Re: Cam and notch movement

Thank you both, John and John. Speedytinc, I know you explained to me how to correctly adjust the low band and I was pretty sure I did it right but when I later wanted to push the car out of the barn it felt as if the transmission was dragging in neutral. When I started the engine the whining sound ...

Cam and notch movement

Hi, tonight I removed the inspection cover to take a look at the transmission. As I mentioned a couple of weeks before I had the feeling that I suddenly had more pedal travel to engage low gear. After adjusting from outside the hogs head I was again able to engage low firmly before hitting the floor...

Re: Clutch pedal

John, thanks for the advice using dental mirrors. So far I haven't had time to check again. Slow speed engages almost when the pedal touches the floorboard. Also it sounds like the transmission already whines when still in neutral with the emergency brake upright. When I adjusted the band with the e...

Re: Clutch pedal

Hi everyone, well I adjusted the low band again until I heard a difference in sound while the engine was turning and backed off a half turn. It still felt as if there was too much engagement travel so I took the inspection cover off again. I checked the drum and it looked o.k. I recognized that the ...

Re: Clutch pedal

Thank you John,
whatever I might find out next weekend I will certainly adjust the band per your instruction. I really hope that it will be some minor problem and not a cracked drum.
I'll keep you informed. Thanks again,
Bernd

Clutch pedal

Hi from abroad, Two days ago when accelerating from an intersection the clutch pedal suddenly felt less firm and I had to push it closer to the floor to engage low gear. Despite heavy rain I decided to take a look and removed the tranny cover, but I couldn't detect anything unusual. I put it back to...

Re: VR or cutout

Kevin and Frank, I wonder if there could be a way to determine if it is a voltage regulator or a cutout without opening it. Something like its "behaviour", different readings on the ammeter, etc. When I had the idea with led headlights, I sent the vendor an email. They said that the minimum order va...

Well, I finally took off that little drum that sits on the generator. I turned it around and found out that it is probably a cut out and not a voltage regulator. I took some pics and would like you to confirm this.
Thank you,
Bernd

Re: Vibration

Thank you everybody, well that is quite a surprise that Ford had them pan ears padded originally. I wonder how many T's still have these leather pieces or how many restorers would put new ones under the ears when hanging the engine back in. As for Jerrys idea with the vibrating fan, the car has an a...

Re: Vibration

Thanks everybody for the info and advice, the engine does have some misfiring quite noticeable when idling, so I have to address that. In addition there are door pins, the brake handle and the lately mounted sidelamps that rattle, the glass door that is. The windshield also contributes to the "harmo...

Re: Vibration

Brendan, Thank you I will try that. But what about engine vibration? Even when the car is not moving and the engine is revved up a little everything vibrates pretty bad. So I can imagine going down the road this adds to unbalanced wheels, hard road surface, no shock absorbers etc. But of course that...

Vibration

Hi, When I drove home today I thought about a couple of issues I would like to improve on the T and how I could accomplish it. One thing that really is annoying is vibration. Keeping the T under 30 mph is o.k. but maybe she could run much smoother even at that pace. Too bad that I have no chance to ...

Re: VR or cutout

Kevin, Dan and Frank, thank you! Tomorrow I will take a look under the cutout/vr. I will also check the wiring on the horn. As for the third brush setting, I was afraid of draining the battery while driving with the lights on for about 35 miles which is the distance to my work. So I thought the batt...

VR or cutout

Hi dear members, a couple of months ago I repaired a fallen off wire in the T's generator. I figured that maybe the generator had become too hot and the solder became soft. Since then I've had no problems and the ammeter stays at 10 to 12 amps with the lights off. Under 30 mph with lights on, the am...
