1917 truck rear axle. Save or scrap?

F9A4EA62-AF3D-4C59-B858-6A4F11CDDBEC.jpeg
. Taking the wheels off this old trailer to see if they’re salvageable. The axle housings have been welded on, but are the early style with the flanges. Are these rare enough to save or just throw them on the scrap pile?

The piece that Robert posted is 3rd party, so that may have been some kind of conversion, just brainstorming

Interesting....Not saying you're wrong, but weren't those 3rd party conversions? Would marine conversion parts still carry Ford part numbers?

Adrian, This wouldn't be NRS since it's the later style. I'm assuming Pre-Model T would be something similar to the early two-piece end.

Re: Unusual Drive Shaft Universal Joint Housing

This is not magnetic at all. When it came to me it was painted and covered in grime just like normal, but there was a scratch that looked unusually shiney, so I stuck a magnet on it and it didn't stick.

Re: Unusual Drive Shaft Universal Joint Housing

It's probably bronze, but you can't tell with a magnet, since bronze and brass are both non-magnetic. The bronze universal joints has me intrigued, though. Somebody at Ford was tinkering around.

Re: Getting started on the '25 project

Yes, the frame has been waiting for a few years as Iv'e been steadily hoarding TT parts. I've got enough to actually put together a whole truck now I think, including a decent closed cab and a stake bed. We'll see how it goes. I think I still need a good pair of rear rims.

Re: TT Truck Running Boards

So it looks like what I'm getting is that the long boards first appeared in the August '25 parts book and started appearing on the trucks at that time or very shortly thereafter. That syncs with the '25's I'm seeing being about half and half (unscientific and small sample size)

Actually confirms that the change to the long 'boot scraper' boards was a late (post August) '25 change.

Re: TT Truck Running Boards

I've been looking at pictures of closed cab trucks online that look like they're original. The ones that are supposedly 1925 seem like about half and half short vs long running boards, so I'm starting to think this was a more later '25 change. My 'June' truck should probably have the shorter ones th...

Re: TT Truck Running Boards

It looks like they appear in the parts book starting Dec. 1925. So maybe a mid-year '25 change (?) There were some changed made mid-25 when the close cab came out, so maybe early 25 (?) I'm not sure how much lag there is between a part showing up on a car and it appearing in the parts book

TT Truck Running Boards

Does anyone know when the TT running boards switched to the 'boot scrapper' style? Was that early '26 or did that come in in '25? I'm getting set to dive into a '25 project (June '25, since I've got the engine) and I'm taking inventory, so I've got several TT parts questions that I haven't figured o...

Hello, here's a question from dad, who is working on his August 1913 chassis. He wants to know if anyone has information on when Ford started to use 1914 bodies. Oh, as an FYI. I bought this without title in Michigan and the process was fairly painless. To make sure a car is roadworthy with no glaring safety issues, I run through the International club's tour safety guidelines. It's a good general checklist for any car that's going to be spending time on the road. I'll post the link below, but if that doesn't work, it's on the website for the MTFCI...
