Re: Detachable Rims

Thanks for your answers. I now know that they are not all the same.

Detachable Rims

Are the lugs on detachable rims all the same size and position? Can any detachable rim fit any felloe on a wheel?
I have two detachable and two non-detachable on my 1915 tourer and want to change to all detachable with a spare rim and tyre.
Thanks

Re: Commutator pullrod

Thanks. Scott.
This is a righthand drive car and the pull rod is only 6 inches long. We will use 6mm diameter rod and turn the end down to 7.32 inch.

Commutator pullrod

On my friend's English (righthand drive) Model T the advance and retard lever will not retard enough for starting. Checking the timing shows that it fires at about TDC instead of about 20 degrees after. I tried adjusting the commutator pullrod but there is not enough thread to unscrew it. We need to...

Neoprene axle seal T-2511-AS

When I tried to fit a new inner neoprene axle seal it seemed like the hole in the seal was not large enough to fit over the axle. I was able to push it about half way along the taper but it would have taken a large force to stretch it enough to slide onto the shaft. My axle is 1.062" (which seems st...

Remote turn off of gas tank.

When my 15 Tourer is in the garage I like to turn off the gas at the tank, but this involves crawling under the car. I am looking for some way of making a remote lever that will do it for me. Has anyone done this? Looking for ideas.

Holley G starting overflow?

I happened to have the bonnet (hood) open when I was starting my 1915 Tourer and noticed that, as I turned over the engine (motor) with the choke pulled out, petrol (gas) was coming from the hole underneath the bowl. Looking at diagrams, this seems to be an overflow from the needle and jet. It looks...

Running in.

In the UK you used to see "Running in. Please pass" signs on the rear of new cars as they drove slowly during their running in period. I am putting my engine (1918) back in my tourer after a complete overhaul (rebore + rebabbeting) and I am wondering about "running in". What should I do once I have ...

Modern seal for front of camshaft

I have the full gasket set for my 1918 engine, which I am reassembling. Whilst it has a modern seal for the front of the crankshaft it has the old felt seals for the front of the camshaft. Is it possible to obtain a modern seal, in the UK, for this? The UK Register does not hold them. Regards, Colin.

Hogshead Clutch shaft o-rings

Do you think that the following would work? Put O-rings on the clutch-operating shaft in the hogshead, with washers and light springs to hold them against the casing. Would it be necessary to make washers with lips on to contain the O-rings? See attached sketch. Regards, Colin.
