RAJO head questions

Hey all, I have an opportunity to buy a RAJO head. After talking with a few people, we believe it is a model B or a C35 head. It missing the intake, exhaust etc. The rocker and valve assemblies are all there though. I can fabricate most everything but I’m most curious about pushrods. Are they availa...

Re: Bosch distributor pieces

What you have is a Bosch 600 series fully automatic advance/retard distributor with no provision for manual advance/retard. No parts for the modern Bosch (like the 009) will fit directly. The cap, rotor and points are the same for the 600 series distributor clip on types. I do not think they were t...

Re: Bosch distributor pieces

Pete, I have spare parts, let me know what you require. Hank in Tin-A-See Thank you sir! I believe everything is here for this one. I just need to replace the broken cap and rotor. I’m not 100% sure about he points being available but it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra of everything just in case som...

From what I can tell this looks to be a Bosch 600. Is that correct?

Bosch distributor pieces

Before I get into this question please leave out the comments about “the original Mag and coil boxes working fine”and “you don’t need a distributor”. Sorry if that offends anyone it’s just that in every distributor thread I see it’s full of people saying things like that and that is not my question ...

Re: New to the Forum New project

Im working on a simple speedster right now. I built my first one up with my grandfathers help back in the 90's. Regardless of the direction you go there was a nice head for sale on the classifieds. https://www.modeltfordclubofamerica.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4009 The common seats for a T avai...

Re: New to the Forum New project

UPDATE: I was able to get the “new” wheel on and drag the T out of the hole it was sitting in and got it home. I can’t wait to get moving on it.

Re: What is bolted to my tie rod?

Wheel shimmy is caused by loose parts in the steering mechanism. A quick fix is to place that device to keep it from shaking. It does not fix the underlying problem. The shimmy occurs when you go over a bump and it starts to shake. If that happens at certain speeds it causes harmonious vibrations a...

What is bolted to my tie rod?

I’m getting closer to bringing home my ‘21 T project. I got a wheel on it and drug it out of the hole and tall grass it has been sitting in. I noticed a strange little contraption bolted to the tie rod. What the heck is it? Some sort of anti chatter or vibration device?

Scored some friction shocks

Just scored some friction shocks for my T build. I know they are 20’s era (my T is a 1919). They will go great for my T speedster or on a T based racecar I want to build soon. Any ideas on a make or manufacturer? They are missing a few small pieces but I can make those no problem.

Re: Tool help

Just to get it on a trailer to get it home. I would not worry about new bearings. Large adjustable crescent wrench, and side cutters to remove the cotter pin. Maybe a screw driver or an awl, to help remove the old crude from the castle nut to find the cotter pin. Personally, I would remove the old ...

If you need new bearings, now or later, the best prices are usually at Rock Auto, Here are the numbers.

Re: Tool help

I thought Chevrolet from that era had five rim bolts, while Ford had four? Correct or no? Even if the Ford wheel is a different size, it should still do the job of rolling the chassis around. That’s what I’m hopin for. It will get a full new set of wheels or maybe wires one day. This is just a temp...

Re: Tool help

Thanks for the heads up on the threads. That will help for those pesky left hand threads down the road.

I’ll have to check on the bearings. The new wheel has the inner bearings but I don’t think the outera are there. With luck maybe I can reuse the ones on the car.

Tool help

Let me preface this by saying that this is my first bone stock model T. I’m used to hot rods and customs. I’m going to be replacing one of the front wheels on my 21 T very soon so I can get it on a trailer and get it home. The current wheel is broken and what’s left if sittijgnin the dirt. I need to...

Found a wheel for $20. It’s not correct but it will get the old girl rolling so I can move her around. Wire wheels are the goal.

I’m also not terribly far from the Chickashea pre war swap meet and the Pate swap so those are always good options.
Chickasha will have its final meet in 2020.

I saw that. Guess I have a little less than a year to save my pennies and make the trip.

Re: New to the Forum New project

Considering the town of Canton has the largest permanent outdoor swap meet in a five state area you might find some Model T parts there! :) Every once in a while I wander down there. Not much for car parts but there are a lot of dedicated auto swaps around these parts for sure. I’m also not terribl...

Looks like you are off to a good start. Word to the wise though... Model Ts are addictive, and they breed. You're been warned. Welcome aboard.

Re: New to the Forum New project

Good find! Looks like a solid start for a T project. Take it home and strip it down to the bare chassis and go from there. Many a T has been reborn this way. Pretty easy to do for a guy that has mechanical ability like you. The forum, parts suppliers like Snyder’s, Lang’s and others have neat catal...

Re: New to the Forum New project

That's a forlorn looking old girl, listing to the side like that...out in the elements. But if the mechanicals are decent, you're well on your way to a neat speedster. Looking forward to following along and you breathe new life into it. It’s leaning because of a wheel missing but over all it’s actu...

Re: New to the Forum New project

If you cannot find a wheel, take double thickness of plywood and cut it round like the wheel. Bolt it on hubs where the bolts go through the spokes and you can roll it around till you can fix the wheel. Oh and welcome to the forum! Sounds like a fun project. Thanks! Thabska good idea. Hadn’t though...

New to the Forum New project

Hey all. I’m new to the forum. My name is Pete. I’m from Canton Texas. I’ve been building cars most of my life and for the last 15 years building them professionally. Of all the old cars I’ve owned and built over the years a Model T has always been on the must have/must build list. I recently acquir...
