Carb work in general is piddly work but it is necessary work!. Stan if those balls are in good shape, not pitted like the one you show, could the needle be soaked in PB blaster to free up the spring?

What kills me is if you do what the MTFCA axle manual tell you to do to remove the bushing you shear off the rivet heads, ridiculous! I think those rivets are expanded it there so tight that it wont matter if the ends of them are sheared off. Look how difficult it is to remove the pedal shaft rivets...

The foam strip across the top edge of the spring helped form the nice round crown. The pleats create themselves as you pull the upholstery up around the top from the center to the outsides

Scott is correct, a version of those were on my car when I got it and they were wearing a groove in the tie rod. I rebuilt the front end properly and there is no rattling. They are not needed

Come on guy its obvious what he did, the canvas is hogringed to the top of the spring before you put the upholstery down around the spring, canvas holds the cotton from falling down into the spring then the spring is crimped to the upolstery

I am currently working on this carb with Gene, does anyone have a float setting spec for it. Also when I removed the float needle seat there were 3 gaskets on the seat. Is this right, why would the seat need to be shimmed like that? Thanks

Mark, I just installed a Classtique upholstery kit in my 24 Touring without any added padding and everyone who sits in it cant believe how comfortable it is. Now if you are installing a complete upholstery kit you must install all new springs with it also.

Mark are you refering to the video of Mike from Classtique doing the seat bottom? I found that Video very helpful and watched it several times to do my seat bottoms. The camera showed how he crimped the material to the spring pretty clearly. You must be talking about another video

Weep rate, i like that one Duey. I had to make a move, my excessive weep rate caused my wife to not park her car in the garage anymore, she said the inside of her car stunk like gas and was making her sick. I put on the new sediment bowl and her car is back in the garage. Happy wife happy life.

Has anyone purchased the new top irons with the wood bows that the vendors sell? For $1040 ready for installation I was wondering about the quality. Doesnt seem like a bad price for the irons and the wood if they are decent.

I could not get that nice round crown on the seat back until I cut a strip of dense foam that you sleep on in a tent and hogringed it to the top of the spring. It worked really well.

My family and I visited the museum this year and we were very impressed. The assortment of different Model Ts is outstanding. Al Im no expert but I think the little "nub" on the side of the iron is suppose to point to the outside of the car. You might have the irons on the wrong side. If you flipped them around the iron hitting the upholstery will be on the outside

I'm currently rebuilding my rear end and using Chaffins manual. I'm wondering why there wasn't a shim selection chart ever made so you would know what size shim to install under the ring gear. Meaning, if you had .030 backlash between ring and pinion, what size shim would you need to get .012

Soak in water for about 4 hours clamp them while they're still wet, let them dry in clamped position, remove and use weathestrip adhesive to apply them to the hood

When looking for a short in your car, disconnect the ground cable from the battery and hook up a test light from the cable end to the ground terminal of the battery then pull fuses from the fuse box one at a time till the test light goes out. You will now know what circuit the short is on.

Yes Scott, when I rebuilt mine I spent alot of time on the commutator doing just that and now it charges too good. I have to do that final adjustment of the 3rd brush on the car

Dave H, I believe you are correct. If you think about it when the muffler is clamped to the exhaust pipe and then bolted to the frame when the car flexes over uneven roads the muffler is transmitting the twisting torque all the way up to the pack nut causing it to loosen. Thanks Dave, I think I'll find a small black rubber plug to put in the spring hole to keep the dirt out, it will blend right in so you wont see it then just pop it out and squirt some oil in
