In car Mag recharge

I have a charger whose output is 36 volts and 30 amps. Is this strong enough to charge the magnets in the car or do I need to use 3 12v car batteries

Re: TW Timer

I’ve put about 5000 miles on my TW timer with the larger brush. Replaced the brush last year. I also noticed the rough places at both ends of the metal contacts and found the insulating material wearing down causing a ledge next to the metal contacts. Both of these will cause the brush to wear faste...

Re: 26-27 coil box kit

I was advised by Lang’s that the new plastic coil box kit they are sending me is from a new manufacturer. When I inquired about the contacts, they have available the generic ones but have not found a manufacturer for the really good ones. Some of mine are not very good anymore, thus the need for som...

Museum transportation help needed

We have a possible donation of a 1925 Tudor to the Model T Museum that is located in Drury, Massachusetts, and are looking for inexpensive enclosed transport to the museum. Anyone willing to help get this car to Richmond please email me at Jerrybkramer@gmail.com. Just getting it closer would help.

Re: Will a "roll pin" work as an alignment pin. ???

A split roll pin will measure a few thousands larger than the hole it is meant to go in and will require tapping with a hammer to assemble. It will also require some force to separate. A part with a smooth roll pin could be put together and taken apart many times without any force.

I don’t see the museum getting into the business of using any of the items or tools that we have for profit. There seem to be many very able machin...

Mark, You must have something not quite right alignment wise with the TW timer. I have one in my 27 RPU that I tour in that has several thousand miles on the original brush. I clean it every year and only a small amount dust. Just put over 600 miles in the last two weeks and still going strong.

I would get a magnetic base drill or position the table in a drill press, a hand held drill won’t work. Then use a carbide drill or end mill

Ted, Every machine has a clutch and can be turned on or off as the line shaft is running. The clutch mechanism is built into the machine on all except the lathe. It’s clutch is mounted on the wall above the lathe.

Dan, Thanks for the info. We will definitely try the cardboard rings.,

Dan and Mark, Both great ideas. We may experiment using material other than steel. I did add grease zerks to all the bearings to minimize drips and frequency of lubrications. Thanks for your thoughts.

The liability we face in the museum would be no different than what you face when you give rides in an old car without seatbelts or other modern safety items. The machinery can only be started by authorized personal. The machine shop has a barrier at the door that discourages unauthorized entry but ...

Just thought I would try out the new forum. We are still looking for a line shaft driven vertical milling machine.
