Re: plastigauge
The model T restorers book from the MTFCA says clearance for connecting rod caps should be .001 to .0015. Seems odd that your shims are different. Maybe it was supposed to be a temporary fix?

Re: Magneto jammed
My magnets all seem to be pretty uniform for the most part, I'm not too worried about having a perfectly functional mag, I drove the car without it working for several years and the generator seemed to have no problem keeping up the battery, even with the starter and headlights. I never had to charg...

Hey all, I had a hole in my #4 cylinder, and decided to replace the block instead of getting it bored and sleeved to save cost. Thank you guys. I decided I'd try to find something that would work to make my own shim before I get some used ones. So, I lost the brass shims for one of my connecting rods while taking apart my motor several months ago. I ordered a set of new ones, but they are way too thick and the clearance is much more than it should be. The plastigauge was hardly phased after I tightened down my cap when I was checking it. I...

hey all, I just bought a 23 touring project, 95 percent complete, just missing a top and windshield.
