Re: Rear spring differences?
I will stand corrected on this matter.
The ones I have been calling 26-27 rear springs must just be worn out, smashed flat later springs.
Used ones come in all sorts of heights after 100 years of use and abuse.

Re: Engine runs too hot
40 weight oil is too heavy. On a fresh rebuild it needs to be 20 weight. After break in (thousands of miles) 30 can be ok. On a modern oil the first number (before the W) is winter weight and the second number is summer weight. Summer weight matters more than winter because we rarely drive model T's...

No one has mentioned that a Model T can run hot by just using too thick of an oil. I have seen this on several cars before. What grade oil are you using? Check to make sure the vent in the gas cap did not get clogged.
If I understand the symptoms right it sure sounds like a fuel flow issue.
There is a slim possibility of a thermal issue but that does not feel right.
Did it go farther or shorter on the wicked cold trip vs warmer trips?

To clear up some details here, and probably cause confusion. LED bulbs will run on AC power but... They are diodes at heart so will only light on half the cycle. Not that anyone notices this. Re: Preventing leaks in your brass radiator... a PSA.
While we are on the topic of saving the radiator I have a few reminders: 1) If you run straight water add an anti rust to minimize corrosion. And dont forget to drain in cold weather. 2) Use the cleanest most neutral water you can. 3) Brass radiator cars must use the proper antifreeze. A lot of "mod...

Re: Troubleshooting Magneto
Something that is occasionally occurs and will cause lots of headaches is the wiring connections. These harnesses are hand made and good quality but every once in a while things go wrong. After the melt down it got some new wiring that has also not been proven. Verify that the wire end terminals are...

Re: Centerdoor Dome Light Question
Thank you for the answers, and so far it looks like 1916-1923 centerdoors did not come with a dome light and some people add them. The 1915 centerdoor was a special body in lots of ways and the parts book is probably right. The part numbers of the dome light assembly and each of the parts are specia...

Centerdoor Dome Light Question
Calling all CenterDoor owners - Do you have a dome light? My 1921 CenterDoor (Fisher body) came to me mostly finished with a new interior but no dome light. Some insist I am supposed to have one but I do not feel the mounting block in the roof under the headliner and find no evidence of a switch. Lo...

Re: Fan seizing.
According to the judging guidelines, encyclopedia, and parts books he has the correct fan assembly on his 1919 car. The 1917 to 1920 used an iron hub, riveted blade, straight arm. grease cup style fan. I can not find a diagram for it. It has replacable bushings is serviceable and quite sturdy. The b...

Patina is something I have to comment on. First I have to say, do what makes you happy. As long as you are not destroying the car, go for it. Second, I am known for patina. While I can and have worked on show winning paint jobs they dont excite me. I dont want trophies or to worry about messing it u...

Re: 3D Printed Coil Box (Back and Base)
To seal a 3d printed parts they can be sealed using you choice if insulating coatings. Spray clears or brush on and let it soak in. For those that have access to it conformal coatings work great. For better results vacuum or pressure chambers push it deep in the pores. Black paint can be used with e...

Re: 3D Printed Coil Box (Back and Base)
While I love 3d printing and have made many prints but in this application I have some concerns. Over the years I have discovered that most 3d printing is porous (leaky). They will fail vacuum leak tests, weap chemicals when plating, and not hold pressure. When installed on a vacuum leak tester it w...

Re: Radius Rod
After installing many engines and front ends in mostly other peoples cars, they pretty much don't line up without a little help. The weight of the engine and tranny will push the front axle forward due to the built in caster of the front end. The fastest and easiest way to solve the problem is to go...

Re: 1921 Centerdoor Glass Seals
That original seal is very interesting, How and where is it supposed to be fastened? The glass goes up and down plus in and out during normal operation. Quite different from normal car windows. It is nothing like what is on the other windows of the car. And I can not find a match to what the other w...

Thank you for the information. The replacement window side seals that someone installed is glued to the glass with a soft seal with a tough outer shell so that it does not wear out sliding up and down the wood channels. It is not like any of the normal window felts I have ever seen. Looking at Snyde...
