Gentleman , thanks for all input, I have drilled fill plug & installed vent hose over fuel tank w/ catch bottle, getting some fluid after some miles.
One additional question.. all photos show brass vent location at rear of shift tower. Can it be installed at front area of the tower?

Just tried a solution to clean parts ...
Hot Water & Dawn x5 Powerwash dish soap.
Spray parts with Dawn, let set for a minute then brush in the hot water. 2nd application might be needed, but ECO friendly & easy to dispose of.
Worked well on 40yrs of grease & crud.

Re: Value of C cab top metal
I built this 1924 “ C “ Cab from swap meet parts, also lowered the roof line to 7ft. C Cabs of this time did come with a choice of high or low roofs. I hope this helps .

Welcome to the hobby, I am also a newby. Built my T from spare parts, chose to use a distributor, alternator, 12 volt, overdrive w/ hydraulic brakes. Has anyone shortened the shift lever on a Layne Warford. If so what length is good, can it be done with out removing the shift assembly? This will make climbing in & out a bit easier. Well here’s an update on my McLaren wheels purchased around 2007. After dismounting the spare I found the lug was welded on the inside. Thanks Mark McLaren for a professional product! Hey thanks for the input, going to start dismounting all the tires & finding a good welder to fix things right soon. POR 15 should have a coating that could work, have used their products for years with excellent results. Will post the results when finished.

Kevin, that thread is exactly what I am referring to.. I purchased the wheels in the 2007 time frame, just got the T on the road last summer. Now that I am back home for summer, just had opportunity to look at the lugs and I think I have the same issue.

McLaren wheel lug repair
Just examined my McLaren wheels, they need the lugs welded to be safe. Has anyone taken the next step and had the welding done? Back side of wheel or both sides? Also what have you done about the galvanize that gets removed during welding. Thanks

Re: Wood Spoke Void Filling?
I had same issue... I used West System Marine Epoxy, need to use the SLOW activator. Also spread old fashion PLAY DOE around the top nipple & the flats of the mating surface of the spoke. The play doe won’t let stain or epoxy in that area, simply chip away after it dries.

I used POR 15 with very good results, but you need to follow the directions. Sand blasted frame, then prep with their cleaner and used their prep to etch the metal, brushed gray base coat, then brushed on their chassis black, both products flow out well. Did the same on engine and trans, the engine pa...

I used a heavy flat file & air die grinder with a coarse 3M pad. Installed rear hdy disc brakes, had to cut and true drums along with grinding linings to get drums to slide on and turn freely.

I have the same problem, it took a lot of time sanding down the lining .. got a sweet spot at the lever w/ the rear levers position correct. Hope the conditions improve over time, but the hand lever doesn’t have the travel that is normally observed. Thanks for opinions..

I have used both products for years, Sea Foam is very good but is used as a fuel cleaner, also can be used in oil to clean crankcase. Sta Bil is used as a fuel treatment for off season storage, but it will only last 1 season & needs to be redone for the next season.
