If these are the coils I'm thinking about, they are not good. They are blond in color, the secondary resistance is about 8000 ohms, versus 3000 for a Ford coil. The car i worked on had 4 of them. 2 worked, 1 was totally dead, 1 (buzzed) internally, nothing externally. Call Ron.

Here's my theory. The firing order is wrong. The model T is 1243 as are most early 4 cylinder cars. This requires the front 2 cylinders and rear 2 cylinders to suck 1 right after another. The long manifold has more fuel stored in the manifold. A better firing order would be 1324.

Re: Who knows why???

Dan, I've had 3 or 4 of the drums you are referring. Each 1 had a older cover with slotted holes. I came to the conclusion that there wasn't a special cover. Maybe this is 1. Maybe tomorrow there will be an answer.

Re: Installing Chicago auxiliary transmission

I don't know if this would work or not. Put in a TT cross shaft. Fab a spacer where it bolts to the frame, this would compensate for the difference in the height of the cam. In my mind it would lower the shaft between 1" and1 1/2".

Just chuck up a known good axle in the lathe and indicate the taper in.

Re: How often do 2 piece valves come apart?

I saw a car that had sat for years taken to a national tour. Day 1 one valve lost its head. Cylinder head was pulled and 1 valve replaced. Day 2 another valve lost its head, this time he replaced them all. I think miraculously neither time any major damage was done.

Re: New London to New Brighton antique car run

Another truly amazing car and driver was Herb de la Port in a 1901 Locomobile steam car. The car required fuel and water every 20 miles, and traveled at 12 MPH. He was allowed to start early and finished the 120 miles at 6:15. Every time I passed him he had a smile on his face.

I feel a 23 is much more comfortable than a 26. I have both. If you're short it may not matter.

Re: Celebration of Brass 7/18/24???

I was at the first Celebration. Maybe 15 venders, no one with piles of parts, though mostly brass era, very little Model T. I do plan to attend this, it's right after the T tour in Cadillac.
I'd say go to see the brass cars, and all that the Gilmore has to offer. The swap is a bonus.

I'd first try flipping it. I'd also add, I used one of these on a long trip. I modified it to clamp on the outside, so not to scratch nice plated rims
