I'd love to but no room, hence my dilemma. Just trying to figure it out before tearing it apart.Original Smith wrote: ↑Fri Oct 03, 2025 1:53 pmThe board thickness is really 13/16", at least it is on a 1925. Take your bed off, and put in the plate correctly. You will be happy you did.

Re: 26/27 Bed crossmember cover plate
Believe you have enough space under the crossmember and the bed to place the hump place flush with the bed wood. Nope that's the issue I have. Could just be the former owner didn't know the flanges of the hump plate mount to the underside of the bed boards. No room. Maybe I need new body blocks but...

Re: 26/27 Bed crossmember cover plate
Everything looks right but it does not add up... I am starting to think your floor boards are too thick, that would bring the cover plate lower and therefore closer to the frame. Please measure the thickness of the floorboards and report back. My thoughts also, something doesn't seem to add up. I t...

Re: 26/27 Bed crossmember cover plate
That 'hump plate' should be mounted with the flanges under the bed wood. Suppose the bocks are misplaced, can't seem to see in the photos. unfortunately, I can't mount it with the flanges under the bed wood. The crossmember is already up against the hump plate. bocks? Do you mean blocks? What block...

26/27 Bed crossmember cover plate
I have a 26 pickup and can't figure out why the crossmember cover plate is proud of the bed boards. The crossmember is up against the cover now so you can't move the cover lower. Are the body blocks incorrect?

Thing can get really confusing when it comes to wheels (at least for me). I have these other wheels I always thought they were correct 26-27 wheels but maybe they are a mix of Ford and Chevy. What do you think?

I knew I came to the right place, a wealth of information. These are wheels I was looking to buy but the didn't look right. Glad I asked. I have other wheels that I have to check. I believe the stem is to the left of the lug.

Something with these wheels does not look right. All the 26/27 rims I have seen have the lugs attached to the rim and not like the ones in the pic.

Re: Engine noise within certain speeds
Hello. I have a 1916 Touring since some years. At the beginning I had troubles with overheating, it also appeared a bit weak, but over time the engine was running better and better. Now it is running very well, but I notice/hear a vibration when driving between 45-50 km/h (28-31 mph) on high gear. ...

Almost 4 years and no response.
Bump to the top.
I also have excessive clearance generator gear to cam gear. I have not tried anything yet, but I'm thinking a thinner gasket won't reduce the clearance enough. I might try no gasket and rtv sealer or a different generator mount. Thoughts ideas?

Re: Securing Camshaft Seal in Timer Cover
I usually squeeze mine between a couple blocks of wood ever so slightly, a little at a time then check the fit. I did something similar to this. I squeezed mine between to large thick washers drawing it together with a bolt and nut. I measured the bore size and squeezed until I was just over the me...

Re: 26-7 roadster top rear offset
I just did the top on my roadster. I set the bow to with plumb line 2" back from the body. The instructions from Cartouche also recommend 2" on the '26 - '27. Sorry with all the pics I took I don't have one taken directly from the side showing the overhang. Oh and make sure the car is fairly level. ...

26 Roadster Top question
I am working on replacing the top on my 26 Roadster pickup. I have searched and read the forums and internet for hours and have not found a concrete answer. Thanks for the link. So it seems hat I suspected is correct. Now what? Do I clean up where I cut the threads? Have a machine shop bore it for a bushing or get another bracket?Scott_Conger wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 9:05 pmread

Steering bracket question
I am attempting to replace the bushings in my '21 steering bracket. I had no problem removing the lower bushing using a 7/8 tap method. The upper bushing is not brass but steel. I figured someone at some point replaced the upper with a steel bushing. So I proceeded to use the same method as the lowe...

Re: Bow wrapping
Yes. Put the seam on top so that it can't be seen inside the car. :) Do you understand what it means for the fabric to be cut on the bias? It means the threads run 45 degrees to the length of the bow wrap, like this: Yes I understand what it means to cut on the bias but that doesn't answer my quest...

Re: Bow wrapping
As you said, the bow wrap is cut on the bias (45 degrees). This gives it the flexibility to conform to the bends in the corners. Here is a video showing how Elizabeth at "Class it Up" does it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6Y8gKaKIrs&t=27s She is wrapping it lengthwise. Is that the correct way?

Bow wrapping
I'm working on replacing the top on my 26 Roadster pick up. I've spent hours searching this site and the web but can't seem to find a clear answer. How are the bows wrapped? On a 45 almost like you wrap a candy cane or length wise along the bow? Is the front bow wrapped like the other bows? Also how...

I got a Bendpak HD-7W and have no complaints. I decided to go with a Bendpak for few different reasons. Bendpak seems to be popular on a few different forums as well as a few car shows. Its was also available from a local lift company.
