I saw him do the kick wheel start several times. Jane would be standing on the passenger side and I always thought she might have had a hand in the start process. Another one of his props was the methane Briggs single cylinder he would start with no gas in the tank, spark plug wire disconnected and ...

Passing of Bill Portier
Bill was a great guy and avid model T’er for many years. He had not been active in the club for a few years due to declining health. Bill was always a very entertaining chap, having run Willy’s Used Up Car lot at Flywheelers Park in Florida. His show using a model T as the prop, was always a hoot. H...

I always put a front cover over the radiator to prevent air from entering through the engine compartment, that lifts the floor boards and bellows the top. None of that happens if the front opening of the radiator is blocked off! One down side is it is not very aero dynamic!

Model T’s in single digits
A group from the NokenT’s of Ohio went on a two day tour this weekend. We left Friday morning with the temp at 25 degrees. We never saw 15 degrees until today. All cars performed flawlessly. Start temp this morning was 8 degrees with snow on the ground. Ignition systems to include coils with standar...

Re: The Secret to Looking Young!
More often than not, when we are out in a T, we will get more comments and questions from younger girls or ladies than guys. I sometimes wonder if the guys are shy to ask a questions. But if a guy is with a gal when the answer is given, he’s paying attention too! And the gals always want to go for a...

In regards to how loud they are, two of ours are steel and one is aluminum. The steel ones are much louder, however, all three have a nice tone! As a side note, our X Govenor of KY, Matt Bevin, owns the company, meaning it’s still in the family for more than a hundred years.

Re: Distributor and coil, vs. Coil boxes and timer
Because I did not understand the Ford ignition original to a T, and the folks we started touring with so many years ago tuned their T's by ear, I switched to a distributor. We have had several T's and when there were issues with the Ford ignition, it was a pretty quick fix to go to a distributor. We...

Re: Texas T Alternator instructions
I have had this same alternator for about 20 years almost trouble free. If connected straight to the same wire as was used by the generator, after a period of time, say 6 weeks of sitting idle, mine will discharge the battery completely. I have since installed a small 30 amp relay that opens the wir...

Re: What Have You Done to Your Model T in December
The only way I can get our 24 touring top up and down is to stand on the back seat floor boards and raise or lower it from there. Make sure all the top bow arm joints move easily. A drop or two of some kind of lube keeps its irons from pitching side to side and binding in the process. Once you do it...

Texas T Alternator instructions
I’m trying to help a long distance newby friend with removing a Delco gear driven Texas T alternator that needs checked out. I read once that Ford changed to positive ground on model A's so they could be sold in Europe. European cars weren't allowed to be sold if negative ground.

I have the same vent door on my 25 and it only has one spring. I’m pretty sure, based on other 25’s I’ve seen that it is correct or at least others use the same setup! Works well!

Re: Which Tube Patch Kit(s) work reliably?
Some members of our club are having issues with the patches sticking to the tube, applying the patch in the same manner as they have for years. The patch comes off, many times before the tube is installed in the tire. Maybe tube compounds have changed making the adhesive not stick?
