Original T at elevation
I took my 1922 T to my cabin lately and when it performed well, during loading at my home sitting at 1600', at the cabin having over 9000' elevation it was misfiring. I adjusted carburetor and I turned the needle all the way in for best idle, when the lack of power was pretty evident as I could not ...

Re: Coolant
RE: "mixing mistakes" and modern car DIY coolant flush and replacement On my modern cars, I have always done my own coolant flushes, using a flush kit that has a "T" that you splice into the water heater hose in order to hook up a garden hose. Unless you remove the engine block coolant drain plug(s...

Re: Out on the prairie
I think the bridge was the only area where you could work on the car without smearing everything in mud.
As for going back to those times, I grew up in times with no TV and no internet, but don't think I would part with my android now.

Re: Coolant
Driving Mercedes for lot of years, I become big fan of their coolant. I put it on couple of my Ford Trucks and the engines would run much cooler, what I noticed by radiator fan not coming on even when towing 10k trailer in 95F weather. There is more to coolant than just "water wettening" and other p...

It is 1922 model and I think I have cast iron muffler, but have to check it closer.
Sounds like welding old pipe is my only option?

New exhaust pipe for Model T
I found old topics where there was Larry from CA making new pipes, but seems he is no longer a member here and I can't find him on google.
Are new pipes available? Mine has crack along the weld, so it might be weldable, but I like new idea better.

Re: Charging System
That would mean you have an open wire, or terminal connection between the generator to ammeter to battery. The open is often on that firewall terminal block or a longer screw going to ground there. The wire on your generator cutout should measure the battery voltage all the time. The ignition switc...

Re: Does anyone have a recommendation for an air filter?
The way you have yours set up with the exhaust appearing to come down in front of the intake, this probably won’t work, but it is a good air filter for a normal Model T setup. It is spring loaded and braces against the hogshead. Jim Patrick F2D72804-656D-497C-9FF2-F586CCA6F674.jpegBE1F4301-37FE-442...

Re: Charging System
Do not at any time run the generator without a connection to the battery! That includes running it with an open diode or regulator. It will cause the generator to overheat and burn out! I don't know about a voltage regulator, but with a cutout, or diode, you can take a short piece of wire and conne...
