Taking apart the speedster to replace rotten wood. Full frame teardown to repaint. Took apart the diff. after water poured out when I went to top it off. Cowel off for rust repair and frame/suspension work. Valve job on the engine. Need to get it ready for July car show.

Was given this by a friend. He said that the person who built it said it was for a Model T. The only thing I can think it would be for is the pan bolts. One end of the long tube is a 3/8" drive, the other, near the wrench, is a socket. What do you think?

Just picked these beauties up for a song. The larger seat tool has the Ford script. How viable of a tool was this? It would create an arched seat instead of a three angle. I know the intake would work fine with a narrow seat, but I was taught to create a wider seat for the exhaust for heat transfer.

Drug it out of its tent for a long hauling. East bound and down. Loaded up and trucking. Out of Washington. South Dakota here we come. Hopefully have time to start the real work on it. It's been two months since retirement and nary a spare moment for anything other than prep for the move.

You must first convert said vehicle to battery/electric. The ICE can then be used as a generator to charge the battery. Any form of fuel for the generator is acceptable. Coal, diesel, kerosene...

Re: Returning Oil to the Ground
My childhood memories are of my mother hanging the clothes up to dry in the backyard. There was nothing better than putting on a nice crisp white t-shirt fresh from the clothesline. BTW, those sure are some long black leggings you are hanging to dry Steve, I didn’t think anyone wore those anymore :...

Re: Returning Oil to the Ground
Most people here are old enough to remember the black stripe down the middle of every highway lane caused by the crankcase breather tube every car had. And on some highways you can still tell far ahead where a bump in the pavement will be, .... there is a dark spot on the pavement from the hanging ...

Yes and when times are tough Dobbin can feed a family of 4 for a month... let's see your new fangled automobile do that. :o Had this discussion with a girl in high-school. Motorcycle v. Horse. This 'sparked' the thought. Since it has two coil boxes. Would there be any advantage to running two coils per cylinder? Two wires to each comutator terminal. Just a thought. Oh, and speedster first for tooling around and then you have something to drive to the parts store while building your next o...

Re: Stromberg OF tip of the day
I have an OF that has the throttle holes and shaft that have seen better days. What is the process for alignment when drilling for new bushings? Can the shaft be 'brazed' and resized, or is it better to just turn out a new one? I really can't believe my T was running with how worn out it is, but I d...

Does water roll off of a 'thick skinned duck's back' better than a thin skinned one? I would think it had more to do with water repelling properties than thickness.

If you do happen to let the smoke out of your wires, they have been making a smoke machine for a while. They are not cheap, but can help if you've made this mistake. Just search for 'smoke machine' in your search engine.

Re: Warped exhaust manifold.
I did heat the entire manifold with my torch. Used to braze, cracked cast tractor manifolds back in farm power mechanics in high school. We would always throw them in the forge until good and hot before, and for a short time after. We then would bury them in dry sand to slow cool. Usually worked out...

Pic no. 2. See how the lack of the running board on modern cars has deprived the short in stature to see what's happening. I vote we bring them back. Why do trucks have all of the privilege.

Alan, you are spot on. I saw them browsing Ecklers and wondered if they where a must. I have a set of ash wire wheels and rubber stem tubes. Your response points me to take a better look at that area of the rim.

I see that there are bushings sold for a steel wheel where the stem passes through. Does anyone use these? Are.they required?

Succes. Mounted up nicely. I know, I know. The parts aren't correct, but for now, they hold things together. This is a patch, get it running for a quick jaunt. Full rebuilt will take place in the future.

Tim, those are the gaskets I have on hand.
John, propane.
It is cool now and does still have a slight deflection. No twisting though. We will see if it is close enough that it wants to sit where it is supposed to.
