Re: 25 Fordor door question
Be careful. 100 year old body structure wood will need to be replaced. And the cost will exceed the value of the vehicle by many times. Our 27 Fordor is the second one that Don Booth rewooded. The wood appeared solid and intact, but was dry and brittle.

Also, if anyone is interested in driving to the Piquette Plant during the OCF, I'm interested. I arrived at Dearborn too late today to get over there.

Remember that Model T bodies up to early 25 are wood structured bodies covered over sheet metal. They do flex over time. Shims are needed for yours. Remove the floor boards and you can see the brackets on the body wood where they are attached with a bolt to the frame. You might need to add a shim (...

We bought a class C RV in 2013, mainly for the OCF. At the time, a lot of the old car fun happened in the parking lot. It seems that a lot of that died with Jack Zimmer. There's no need to remove the individual magnets. Lay the transmission on plastic 5 gallon bucket, magnets up. Lay a good mag ring on the magnets in the correct orientation using a compass. Clip the ground lead of a MIG welder onto the cast frame of the mag ring. Then very briefly, zap the MIG wire ...

2024 will be our tenth year bringing an antique Ford to the Greenfield Village Old Car Festival. They have had us setup for RV camping at Fairlane Mall the last few years. I'm planning to drive whichever car I bring, to the Michigan Central Station and back to the mall. I'm not worried about securit...

A few of our group on the Jamboree a couple years ago crossed the bridge, just to say that they did. I don't remember why I didn't do it. Nobody reported any problems.

Re: For Don Booth
I'll add, that if not for Don's presence here, my life would be very different. 12 years ago he posted the progress of his Fordor restoration. I half-jokingly asked when I could drop ours off with him. He quickly replied, and i drove from Grayling to Bay City on Christmas day. Dad had bought the 27 ...

Re: 26-27 fordor steering column questions
I have the hinges. I have a coffee can full of Fordor parts from a cut-down car that my uncle built into a depot hack in the 1960's. He had scrapped the body and saved the hardware. Send me you address and I'll ship them.

Re: Do I really need a carb shut off valve?
On our 27 Fordor, I was able to fasten a metal rod onto the handle at the stock sediment bulb. It is sandwiched between the splash apron on the wood body sill, and bent at a 90 degree angle. It would not be noticeable if I painted it black. It makes it much easier to shut off the fuel when the car i...

Re: 26-27 fordor steering column questions
The back of the front seat on our 27 Fordor was moved rearward a couple inches, and the padding thinned, during restoration. It's still not real handy to enter and exit the driver's door. I use the passenger door almost all of the time.

If you're in the area, check out the Bay City Walking Dredge that was used to make the roadbed across the Everglades. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_City_Walking_Dredge

It's common for the choke return spring to be broken. It wraps around the butterfly shaft. I've seen a few on them with an additional spring mounted externally. Without it, the choke will suck itself shut.

Re: Shrinner Model T help
The wheels and tires can be an issue. On ours, the tires were no good, and the previous owner had attempted to use bicycle tires and tubes. This was not successful, as the wheels had no lip for the bead of the tire to grab. I was able to buy a couple of cheap bicycles from Walmart, and turn the plas...

If he were to answer truthfully, the Dahlinger story has fascinated me. Evangeline's house still stands, and is likely occupied. Ford vehicles both current and past can be seen on the grounds. Was he really Henry's son?

Re: Painting Wire Wheels
Consider using the washers under the wheel nuts that vendors offer. They help keep the paint from chipping around the holes. The holes are very likely enlarged and the wheels flattened out a bit, where they meet the hubs. I've seen a lot of 26-27 T's with little peaks at the end of the lug nuts from...
