Re: Coil numbering?
Thanks to everyone for the information and drawings! Pretty sure I got it figured out. Edit: I flopped the roller assembly under the timer cover, and it started on the first try! Drove it down to the gas station, topped off the tank, drove wife, sister & neighbor around town. I think I'm ready for t...

Coil numbering?
Family problems and health issues have kept my 1921 TT in storage for the last 3 years. I'm trying to start it again after installing new generator and timing gears. Something isn't right. I have fuel in the carb but not firing. So I'm going through the ignition now. Sitting the driver seat, which c...

Re: Cam Timing gear mounting
After dealing with wife's health issues, I'm back looking at the Model T.
New cam & generator gears installed. Lash on the Gen gear to crank gear is good.
I assume the lash on the cam gear to generator gear should be the same? less than .003?

Re: Cam Timing gear mounting
Thanks guys! Scott, I replaced the generator, pretty sure it was the problem. It was difficult to rotate by hand the entire rotation and seemed to be 'very tight' in one spot each rotation, while the new generator spins freely with my fingertips. Thanks for the caution on the crank seal. I got Grand...

Cam Timing gear mounting
Howdy Everyone My TT died a couple years ago on the way home from the local parade. Family issues put the repairs on the back burner until now. It appears the generator was binding up and the generator gear ate the Alum timing gear. I ordered some parts and cleaned as much of the alum shaving from t...

Re: Holley Carb? Mod "g"?
Look in the oil filler. You can see the teeth of the gear. I had an Iron gear break & shift timing to no compression. It was obvious in that case. Looked in the oil filler but couldn't see much other than I have an alum gear. Pulled the Generator for a better look and find alum shavings. Crank it a...

Re: Holley Carb? Mod "g"?
Your "big bang" was not associated with this and if the truck ran before and not now, it is unlikely the carb (though it DOES need attending to). A loud backfire and failure to run has the earmark of a stripped fiber timing gear, though there could be other causes as well. I would start by checking...

Holley Carb? Mod "g"?
Hello Everyone The back story: 1921 Model TT Obenchain-Boyer firetruck, City of Fowler, California, NO: 1 Was running fine in 2019 and was driving the TT back to the garage after the Cranberry Parade/Car Show. Loud backfire, engine died, Hagerty towed it home. Family calamity and Covid hits, so the ...
