You color photo is a hard no. The period photos are what you want. I have an original wheel in my collection and it matches those photos exactly. Note the large porrion of each hub bolt has paint as well. The hub plate never had a stripe on it. That was a 1970s thing that refuses to die.

Re: 21st annual Camerons swap meet Minnesota

Thanks everyone for attending the swap yesterday. It was the largest meet in five years for us and we had perfect weather for it. Ken Macht cooked over 80 pounds of ribs. Thanks also to Birdhaven/Texas T parts for bringing their store to us once again. Sales were brisk for everyone. See you next year.

Re: Dimensions needed for 1909 E&J 2-teir lens flare

This is a classic example of times when catalog pictures don't seem to match what actually was used in production. After studying period pictures of actual cars for years I can find not one example of flare fronts being used on Model Ts. The earlier 1909s more commonly had the three tier/large body ...

Good stuff. However I would have serious concerns over strapping a model t down by the frame for transport. I have personally seen frames broken in two using this tie down method due to recoil of the springs over bumps during transport. I place basket straps over the tires so the frame can float nor...

Re: ***1915-1916 Ford/KW Ignition Coil Assembly***

I seem to recall that the 1914 coils still had brads all around the side cover which did not yet have the grooves for the cover to slide on. At some point in this era the number of brads was reduced from 10 to 8. I suspect that the slide on cover came later but how much later i don't recall. Trent p...

I have tracked these cars for over 40 years since i own or have owned both 15 and 16 coupelets and i am aware of less than five surviving examples of the car you seek. Your best bet is to find those owners and ask to be notified when they wish to sell. Your quest may take decades, not days.

Re: 5:1 steering gears in a 1914 box

It worked beautifully in my 1909 column. Had to machine the cover a bit due to differences in the length of the spud shaft. Otherwise no issue going 5-1 in an early case. Mine was a complete new setup from birdhaven. I think as long as you change everything including the main shaft you will be good ...

The bolts are correct for earlier in 1911. By 1912 the slot heads replaced them. All were brass or brass plated.

I restored the car pictured in slim howards post. It resides in the colliers museum in naples fl. I used the brewster green formula outlined in the mtfci judging guidelines. Fun stuff but i would suggest you think long and hard about using them on a car you drive. Think about what happens when they break. This is not ford vanadium steel. This kind of part has caused fatal accidents before. Perhaps they are better on display rather than on the road.

The fact that the aluminum decking extends under the seat and all the way to the back indicates that the builders expected that the car would often be adapted for other uses. The seat platform quickly detaches with only two bolts revealing a full deck that suggests a wide variety of uses. Ford suppl...

One thing to consider is that while new wheels are very good they are likely not quite as strong as originals due to the fact that the originals were made from old growth hickory. I run both stutzman wheels and originals on my cars and good originals like yours will outlast all of us. The originals ...

A great find! Without question the body is a 1912 torpedo. Sill plates are correct and the dash is also likely original to this body.It looks like the patent plate is still in place above the steering column hole so the car number might be there for you. This will not match the engine number but the...
