Just completed a 17 mile drive from Eagan, MN through Burnsville, almost to Savage (my fellow Twin Citians will know this area). Finally getting the hang of driving it and had a very positive driving experience. Over 60 miles total since I brought it home last month.
Absolutely alive and kicking! Yes, more of a niche and a changing community, due to demographics, and parts will be more of a challenge, as well as an opportunity for some enterprising individuals, and maybe someday gasoline will be about as scarce as kerosene. But having been one of the last ducks ...
Thanks fellows. I've gotten pretty good at getting the clutch in neutral pushed halfway down, just wondered if I was supposed to start over every time with the hand brake. I appreciate the feedback.
Hi, As a self-taught Model T driver, I have an operating question for you. I searched around & couldn't find where this has been addressed previously. When starting out, we put the brake lever in neutral, push the pedal into low, get it up to speed, push the lever forward, back off the RPMs and rele...
In Moose Lake, MN when I was a boy, there was a grocery and adjacent shoe store that had last operated in the 1950s. When we went to town I'd try to spend some time peeking in the windows, looking at the ancient packages of Coco Wheats, bottles of 7up and Wisk laundry detergent. It was owned by a co...
Got the '26 coupe back on the road yesterday! I had some issues with the coils and the old timer, so I put in an E-Timer. Performed beautifully! Being a novice Model T driver, not having to adjust the spark let me focus on everything else to keep it going in the right direction. Still needs some adj...
Wonderful! So much going on in the top picture: stopping by the blacksmith shop for some mechanical help, road apples all over the dirt street. Love it!
I just got a call from Smith and Jones in SC regarding a gasket I've had on backorder for some time. Their supplier has advised them that they should have copper available in about 8 weeks.
Actually got the thing home! Hired a truck over the weekend and we hauled it up from my Dad's place. It runs, but I'm cleaning it up and redoing some wiring before I scare the neighbors with all the racket and my novice driving skills.
I love old pics of babies and toddlers with Model Ts. I always think how different the world they were born into was compared to their parents, thanks to that machine they are posing with!
I listened to plenty of stories growing up from my grandfather, great uncles and elderly neighbors about farming with horses, many involving injuries and/or spooked runaways. They were happy to get rid of their hayburners, although most worked with them until the horses were too old, then they got a...
Robert, you are leaving a great legacy by posting all of this here. As I scroll through I'm reminded of things to check that I may have overlooked later. I've also subscribed to your YouTube channel Thank you!
Wow, lots of great responses, thank you! I haven't pulled the head yet, but I'll do my best to salvage what's in there. Only concern is it seems to be leaking. I haven't had a chance to get a closer look yet, I'll have it in my shop in a few weeks.
Has anyone had any luck buying a headgasket lately? I have tried multiple suppliers, everyone says they've been on backorder for a long time. Steel, copper, silicone, all pretty scarce.
If anyone knows of a supplier who currently has them in stock, please share. Thank you!
