Re: Specification for spindle diameter?
Ok, so the drawing says 1.189 - 1.190 which would also conform to the 30.210 - 30.226mm measurements. I'll see if I can find someone to build up some material on the spindle and machine it back to spec. Thanks a lot for your help!

Specification for spindle diameter?
More precisely, the diameter of the machined surface where the inner wheel bearing sits. I bought two used spindles from one of the suppliers, since mine were abused (strawberried) with a center punch. The left one measures 1.190" which as far as I know is how it should be. The right one measures 1....

Ok, thanks, in that case everything will be ok I suppose.

Re: Engine runs too hot
Greetings Rainer, I'm not sure I understand correctly, but are you saying you suspect the reason for your overheating problem was running too rich (=zu fett, zu viel Benzin)? If so, the opposite is true: running too lean (=zu mager, zu wenig Benzin) causes overheating. The way I set the mixture (you...

Re: "Instruction Book" vs "Ford Manual"
Well, my 1914 has a "Ford Manual", dated 1914. It is the same book that is listed on the cimorelli page for the 1914 cars. Content-wise, it is mostly the same as the 1913 "Instruction Books" listed on the page (and also the earlier "Instruction Books", like the 1911 one), just the form of presentati...

Found some ball bearings for the front wheels...
and Keith came all the way to Germany just to deliver them personally!
Seriously - he was on vacation in Germany, so he brought the bearings along, we met in Rüdesheim and we had a nice little chat.
Again - thanks a lot Keith!

Re: WTB front wheel ball bearing cups
Thanks for the link, but they only seem to carry the Timken roller bearing type. My car still has its original "early" hubs, and I've read on these forums that using roller bearings with those can result in damage to the hub, that's why I'd like to stick with the ball bearings.

WTB front wheel ball bearing cups
Looking for a usable set of the outer (small) ball bearing cups. I already ordered a set of the larger inner bearing cups from Lang's, but I'd also be happy to buy a complete set if you happen to have one.

WTB 30 x 3 1/2 wood felloe rims
Greetings, I'm having a new set of rear wheels built for my car, so I'm looking for 2 usable 30 x 3 1/2" wood felloe rims. I'm located in Germany, so these will have to be shipped here. It goes without saying that I will cover any expenses associated with shipping, in addition to the price of the ri...

Re: washer between rear wheel hub and axle shaft nut?
First of all, thanks a lot for your feedback & advice! Frank don't let rebuilding..actually it's replacing..the rear axles dissuade you. Do note I used plural. Do them both while you have the rear end all apart. That is what I'm planning to do - I haven't had the other rear wheel off yet, can't acce...

Re: washer between rear wheel hub and axle shaft nut?
Tim, there are two hairline cracks in the raised center part of the hub, going out from the square corners of the keyway at 45 degree angles. Concerning your comment about the axles, that is pretty much what I've been thinking... but, I don't have any experience with rebuilding rear axles. So, I fea...

Ok, I finally got around to taking the wheel off... first of all, no shims in there! But, the key was put in the wrong way: 20240104_114959.jpg deformed key: 20240104_112842.jpg I suppose that was what spread and cracked the hub: 20240104_112617.jpg tapered portion of the the axle shaft.... looks......

Re: washer between rear wheel hub and axle shaft nut?
To my shame, I have to admit I indeed didn't have the rear wheels off yet. (I'm still pretty new to the game.) But, I checked the axle shaft nuts for thightness regularly, so I knew these washers were there, but it didn't occur to me they don't belong there until recently. I'll wait for the book to ...

Re: washer between rear wheel hub and axle shaft nut?
The wheels turn freely, no rubbing that I am aware of, and the stock handbrake works well. And yes, the car has a "Stronghold" auxiliary brake, which was apparently sold by Montgomery Ward and is very similar to the AC brakes. I guess it's possible that someone modified the hub to install those. Wel...

washer between rear wheel hub and axle shaft nut?
Greetings everyone, on my car, on the rear axle there is a washer on each side between the axle shaft nut and the rear wheel hub. I had always assumed they belong there, however I can't find any reference to them in the service manual and I haven't found anything searching the forums. Without them, ...

you already got a lot of good advice, and maybe you already checked that, but still just to make sure: Did you check valve clearance..?

Hello, don't know if that helps, but if you have the time to spare, you might want to visit the Veterama in Mannheim (Germany): https://www.veterama.de/en/ Almost certainly there will be a T or two for sale there. Ok, since I'm new to these forums, greetings to everyone! Well, they are not really new to me I guess, I've been here reading for a couple of years now, in preparation of T ownership so to speak. Then, 2 years ago, me and a friend of mine bought ourselves a lovely 1914 touring car. She runs and driv...
