27 driving chassis, an I being cheap offering $1500?

27 chassis. Engine is said to run but froze and broke the head and pushed out a core plug. Tires decent, has newer radiator (2 yrs old). Body pulled for a hotrod. Offered $1500, he is wanting more.

Am I being to cheap?

Sadly no, “minor” damage but still damage. It cut one of the leads off of a coil. Still on the the fence weather I rewind it now or just patch it until this engine gets a rebuild.

Pulled a runner apart for inspection before doing an engine swap. Found a magnet retainer, bolt broken that ate the oil funnel. Looking for a good oil tube. Shipped to 49431 MI.

What does everyone use for insulating washers on the spring post? Also, I noted your caps are red, not the standard orange as supplied by most vendors. Do you prefer your cap over the orange for any particular reason? Thank you for the post.

Just so I’m clear. A rod bolt was loose, not the rod on the journal. No shims, if I tighten this bolt it will tighten on the journal to where you cannot turn the engine. Not much for cams out there. Been looking as well. Hard to pay $500 for a simple low lift 4 cylinder cam. I’m used to BIG V8 solid roller cams that don’t cost what these do. When you have such a small market it’s good we have anything I suppose.

Plan is to pour my own. How do I know the style of crankshaft? I assume it is cast into it or has a feature that is prominent. Im new to T’s, working on my 27’ to get it in running order. Seems the thrust load on the crankshaft and the brass bearing in the transmission would be hard on them if kept in neutral for extended times. Any thoughts? Im just thinking I’m sure to have allot of idle time playing with the car initially.
