Thanks Jerry, I will. Part of the reason I got into this hobby was to learn new things. Taking things apart, listening to others experience, trying different approaches is all part of the learning process for me. Even when I make mistakes I learn things. I appreciate everyone's input!

Clutch Push Plate Pins
While I was at the Winter Clinic Dave Nolting evaluated my transmission parts and made a recommendation that I replace the drive plate because the rivets are loose and the holes that the push plate pins protrude through are wallowed out. I respect his opinion and will probably replace the drive plat...

Re: Coil Box Security Strap
Thank You Jerry,
The photo's help. I don't have a picture of the front of my box but based on the photo you posted in the link my strap is inserted in the front just like the picture. My strap is just too long so I will have to cut it back a little.
Thanks again!

Coil Box Security Strap
I am rebuilding my coil box and purchased a security strap. How do I secure it to the box? There is not a hole in the firewall for it to extend through.
Based on the diagrams it shows a screw or something like that attaching to the end. That did not come with the strap.
Thanks,
Ernie

wood coil box stain and seal
I just purchased a complete rebuild kit for my coil box. The wood is hardwood but doesn't appear to have any stain or sealant. I have read several items on the forum about what should be used. Any new recommendations? I have some stain and polyurethane in my wood shop. Would that be suitable? Thanks...

Generator Repair or Replace
Just looking for opinions, based on these pictures would you repair or replace this generator? I don't know the history of this car, I purchased it this past November not running. It is running now but the generator has no output. I noticed that the ammeter needle was laying at the bottom of the met...

Thanks everyone for the replies! As Nv Bob mentioned I have installed new lined brakes. I will try everything that John suggested and see how it works. I have changed the oil and figure I will change it again after I try to get the neutral working. There wasn't a filter and magnet in the transmissio...

Clutch Plates
I purchased my car last November, 1925 Runabout. It had been sitting on jack stands and had not run for over 10 years. This is the first Model T I've owned so have no experience. After a lot of cleaning, replacing the transmission bands, etc. I finally started the car this week. I was concerned abou...

1925 Ammeter
I noticed that the needle on my ammeter was laying on the bottom of the gauge. I took it apart and found that stem was broken. I would like to rebuild it rather than replace it. Does anyone have a broken gauge that I could use for parts that they are willing to sell?
Thanks,
Ernie

Ernie

Re: Slow Speed Pedal Shaft
One other thought I would like everyone's opinion on. The man I bought my car from inherited it from his grandfather. The grandfather was going to make his own cotton liners from cotton belts. They gave me the cotton belts with the car. Has anyone ever tried making their own cotton liners?

I read the information from Dan, Thank You! Since I am going to put in kevlar bands and they need to be installed with the hogs head off maybe it's best I don't cut anything.

Re: Slow Speed Pedal Shaft
Thank you for the responses, I was orginally planning on putting in cotton liners because this is my first time installing and adjusting bands so I thought the cotton liners would be a little more forgiving if I make a mistake. I was at the McPherson Winter Clinic and they said the kevlar were much ...

Slow Speed Pedal Shaft
I am a new Model T owner and have a question about the slow speed pedal shaft. I am replacing the band liners on my 1925 Runabout. The previous owner had removable ends on the bands but they were installed with the removable ear on the right side. Also the slow speed pedal shaft extends all the way ...
