Yes Fred and Pat! We "young" guys (using this term loosely as I got a very late start at this) and newbies definitely need guys like yourselves to continue to help us out. I'm only a few years into owning a T and am absolutely loving the endless learning, tinkering and driving the one I've got. You ...

Hi Austin, thanks for posing this question and to all of you who have weighed in with your advice. Low band spring slipping
Looking for words of wisdom and watchouts... I need to replace the low band spring, which continues to slip (see pic). Seems pretty straightforward but I've learned never to assume any repair to be easy. I have a new set of springs on hand, ready to go. The last thing I want is to be fishing pieces ...

Re: Oil leak/puddle underneath the starter...
Hi all, update... I did two things in hopes for a simple solution... 1) tightened the four starter machine screws as they were a little bit loose and 2) more importantly, I suspect that I had added too much oil when I changed it out mid-August. I started to see oil drips in places where there wasn't...

Oil leak/puddle underneath the starter...
Hi all, my T consistently develops a puddle of oil (?) below the starter after taking it for even short drives (2+ miles). I'm thinking I need to change out the gaskets or, worst case replace the starter. What do you think?

Shout out to Steve Lang for taking time to trouble shoot with me this morning - I really appreciate it! I mistakenly said the inlet was 1 3.8", when it's really as Steve said at 1.509" ID. I'll be investing in a set of calipers today. We talked through a few solutions and I'm going to go the route o...

Re: Fitting the exhaust pipe into the muffler
Hi Tim, yes from Langs just last week. The matching pipe they sell is 1 1/2" OD, so I'll be calling them on Monday to sort it out. In the meantime, I'll take a look at what Frank suggested about the adapter.

Fitting the exhaust pipe into the muffler
Hi all, here's my current challenge... I have a newer exhaust pipe (steel I think) that's 1 1/2" diameter and I discovered (frustratingly) that the new muffler kit I installed today measures 1 3/8" diameter. So I ended up putting the old rusty muffler back on for the time being. Looking for advice o...

Thanks guys. I ended up having to punch the pin out of the bottom. It was not exactly a cotter pin and was stuck in there pretty tightly. But once it came out, the rest of the steps are exactly how mtntee20 described it. As always, I really appreciate the advice!

Rear view mirror options
Hi all, I'm considering two different rear view mirror options for my 17 Touring... the clamp-on version or the suction cup type. I'm hesitant to do either because, for the clamp-on clamps right on the metal window frame and there's a metal slider behind the mirror that touches the windshield. This ...

Steering Ball Connecting Rod (?) cotter pin fell out...
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to re-connect the steering ball connector rod on my 17 Touring (I think this is what it's called but I'm not sure - see pics below). The cotter pin fell out and I'm stumped on where it's supposed to go. The end with the cotter pin holes is just past the fan belt ...
