Are there shorter tension springs that I could use to get more life from the band linings, specifically the low speed ?

Makes more sense to do it then. It would be a mess trying to rivet it to band presoaked

Is it necessary to presoak linings in oil before they are riveted to bands or can I do it afterwards before I reinstall them ?

Looking for older woven cotton set that is darker and more ridgid than newer white woven cotton sets
I’ve read that the newer cotton sets don’t last as long
