Re: Kevlar band question

Thank you for the reply. I also see two other vendors in the Vintage Ford, with one of them selling a set for under $100. Cost is not the primary concern, the quality of the band material is. Has anyone had better or worse results with any of the offerings or is everyone selling the same material? T...

Kevlar band question

Guy's,

Is there a Kevlar band supplier out there that you would recommend? I don't know what brand Lang's offers, but they are out of stock on them.
Is there a good, better or best ranking with these or are they mostly the same?

Thanks.

Re: FS: Tucker Spoke Jack

Hi Walt,

I don't have a T wheel in front of me to check the dimensions- does the jack work on 3.5x30 wheels or the shorter ones, or both? All of mine are 3.5x30's.

Thanks.

Re: Decent quality flags for the T??

Many years ago now, and for the same reason, I purchased a small flag from a local boat supply. At the time, it was a more robust flag than what was available, and I was pleased with it.
Fast forward to now, there is no telling how durable that same flag is today.

Re: The story of a 1910 Ford

The car was built at Piquette, correct? If so, it is truly returning home. And even if it wasn't, what a great story and example of preservation!
Thanks, Kim, for the stewardship of the car and donating it to the museum.

Re: Supply Issues for Spare Parts

The education system has been shunning the trades for decades, and it shows today. When I was in jr. and high school, the guidance counselors steered kids away from the shop classes. I took many of them as electives every year but when I first sat down with a counselor to pick the shop classes, she ...

Re: The "NEW" refreshed "THE VINTAGE FORD"

I like the Vintage Ford and appreciate the effort that goes into it, but I'll have to say I'm not a fan of the altered and computer-generated photos. Call me old fashioned, but I much prefer a photograph in it's original form. And frankly, it is very disappointing to see an AI version of a u-joint a...

Not to hijack this thread, but what has happened to the Rocky Mountain Brake Co.? Illness, retirement, wildfires, worse?
Thanks.

Re: T trailering question

I suppose that could be true. But anything loaded on a single axle trailer could be at risk should a blowout occur, right?
I guess it's chance all the single axle trailer owners and I am willing to take.

Re: T trailering question

Yes it will. But the removal of "loose stuff" and top securement is crucial. Maybe even removal of the top, hood and windshield would be safer.
I hauled my '24 Coupe home on a 7x12' single axle landscape trailer and it handled the car fine. All loose stuff went in the tow vehicle.

Richard,

If you are going to separate them, I would be interested in one tap of each size, including a die if available. What would the cost be of that combination?

Thank you.

But I did chuckle at the photo.

If any of us were to show the photo above to someone and ask, "Which one of these would be scarier to ride in?", what do you think their answer would be?

I guarantee most would say or point to the T!

Re: '24 Coupe cowl vent spring?

Rich, Thank you! That is what I needed to see. The bad news is I now see I'm missing some stuff- some rather important stuff. I only have one broken spring, no screws at the bottom of the dash and I have no notched support bracket! I can add that to the list of missing interior parts. Unfortunately,...

'24 Coupe cowl vent spring?

Guy's,

Where is the cowl return spring supposed to be mounted? I have a broken spring hanging from the vent itself but I am either missing whatever it fastens to under the dash or I'm just not spotting the mounting point. What should I be looking for?

Thanks.

Re: Scott Conger's Float-Valve

No California sales? Is that because of the vehicle emission standards there? Would they apply to a vehicle that old- one that did not have any emission equipment to start with?
Not looking to debate the issue, just curious about the rules and how they apply to old car parts.

Thanks.

Re: Fordite steering wheel finish?

I will probably just go with the satin spray finish. The buffing and polish method looks great, though!

My trouble with that method is that the steering wheel would then look way better than the rest of the car!

Thanks for all the replies.

Re: Engine stuck already?

Wow. A lot of replies to try and reply to! The bendix is not the issue because it's original- no electric start. The spring perches have nothing to do with the engine problem. I mentioned them because the reversal of the fronts prevented me from attempting to drive the car in high, so I have no idea...

Re: Engine stuck already?

Guy's, There may be something wrong with the clutch, separate from the engine problem, and I'll explain why I think this. Here's part 2 of the story, which I should have included after seeing the replies. Back when I got it running, I never got to high speed (thankfully!), only used low on the singl...

Re: Fordite steering wheel finish?

Soiled hands after use would have been my next question! Mine were okay handling it after wiping it down after the sanding, but I wondered if actual driving would eventually dirty up the hands. Did the clearcoat darken down the wheel any, making it appear more black than gray? Or did the gray appear...

Engine stuck already?

Hello all, Any of you ever experience anything like this? Two or three summers ago, I was asked by the owner if I could get his '13 Touring running. It was restored years ago, very nicely, with an engine/transmission rebuild, used very little after that and had been stored for a number of years up u...

Fordite steering wheel finish?

Greetings, I'm in the process of sprucing up my steering wheel. The spider has been cleaned up and painted and now it's time for the wheel itself. It did not have the smoothest finish to start with, so I cleaned it up and finished smoothing it with fine Scotchbrite. It looks great, has a dull gray f...
