Re: Does anyone have an alternator conversion on their T?
I don't believe there was any question as to whether or not alternators can be dependable. The question seems to be whether or not the possible 40A - 80A output concerns anyone. I suppose a battery with an internal short, or a short anywhere else the charging circuit, could trigger the max alternat...

Re: A Very Hot Generator
I make a 60A diode cutout or even better, put a voltage regulator on it and save your battery in the process. And never "flash" a generator with a VR installed or you will fry it instantly. Beware of installing alternators on a T. The stock wiring is a fire hazard. I've written a very detailed artic...

Price Drop! Rebuilt Generators - $260
Now that I make the field coils and every other part in these units, I can drop the price of rebuilt generators AGAIN!

Finally - I've been working on making these for over a year now. I just got the shipment today. They’re perfect, and epoxy coated like the starter fields. $45 each plus the ride (yes, I'm trying to make this hobby MUCH more affordable.) I've also dropped the price of rebuilt generators to $260. http...

Re: 12 Volt
You do not need a 12 volt starter, you just need the 0 Gauge battery cables that ford specified in the blue print to get the current to the 6 volt starter. Most battery cables sold today are 2 Gauge 12 Volt cables that cannot transfer the proper current required. Excellent point Jim! This is probab...

Five years ago I installed a WOSP LM256, It's exactly for this reason (among others) that I perfected my 12volt Model T starter conversions which use stock bendix parts (springs) without causing issues I've and priced them competitively. Thankfully the choice is now purely personal preference. I fo...

Re: 12 Volt
I wonder if your 6V generator and battery troubles weren't related. (?) If you don't have a voltage regulator (you still have a basic cutout) and you drive your car often, the battery will ALWAYS be overcharged leading to a failed battery. Overcharging is the #1 killer of batteries. Hence why we de...

Just look at my website under 12v Starter conversions and you'll find a wealth of info and pics of horror stories of folks jamming 12v into 6v starters. Honestly, I try to talk folks OUT of converting their cars to 12v BEFORE they do it. If it's already done, then I do make 12v converted starters th...

Does anyone have an alternator conversion on their T?
Does anyone have an alternator on their T? Buckeye sells them and states this on their website about them: "The 12-volt version is capable of 80 amp output; the 6-volt version is capable of 40-amp output" Model T's only have 12 AWG wiring in the charging circuit... and its 100 year old wiring to boo...

I have probably already lost the argument on this, but I like to browse lots of topics across the Model T spectrum, and more categories just means more places to have to look each day to see what's new. I decided that adding pepper to the radiator every few trips wasn’t going to be a good answer to the multi-leak problem.
