Re: WTB Truss rods.
I had the same problem. Spoke to someone, (don’t remember whether Lang’s or Snyder’s), checked length of what they had - may have been for a year earlier than 15. Sorry to be so vague, but I don’t remember, it was a while back. Bottom line is that I got what they had, there was only about 1/2” diffe...

Re: How to use Marquette tool
Many, many thanks, Jay for the photos and explanation. I first had to change a clincher on my '15 a number of months ago. Two days, many hours and time added to my stay in purgatory for the language I used before I finally got it fixed. Then ran across an article for this tool. Found one on eBay a w...

Michelin tire price list
I'm going to take a shot at this. I've attached a scan of a 1926 Michelin tire price chart that I found stuck between pages in ledger from my great-grandfather's store. Hopefully you will be able to download it and print a copy if you wish. It makes a nice wall hanger for the shop. Enjoy !

Found the tool. Additional instructions would be helpful. Those posted by earlier poster are appreciated and helpful but extra info would be nice.

Re: DVD - Clincher tires
Jeff, Thanks for the reply. The videos I have seen all involve demountable rims. Not saying that doesn't involve mounting a clincher tire on a rim, but I'd like to see some instruction on mounting one on the earlier wheels, (W/O demountable rim). My concern is having a flat while on a tour, or ride ...

DVD - Clincher tires
Trying to become proficient, (well, I'd settle for just "get by") in changing a clincher tire, I saw mentioned in an archived post a reference to DVD by Fred Houston and Mike Bender. I don't see it available here in Resources, nor do I see it available at Snyder's nor Lang's. Anyone familiar with th...

Patching tubes
Ok, whats the best thing to use to patch a tube? The brass stem tubes for the brass Ts are getting expensive, especially when you are “learning” how to dismount, mount a clincher tire. (Goober, where are you when I need you… ? )

Re: Rear axle bearing sleeve
DHort, Thanks for the reply. When I took the axle down, the inner oil seal consisted of a steel bushing having an OD the same as the ID of the expanded sleeve. The bushing served as a holder for an oil seal. Since the steel bushing had an OD the same as the sleeve's expanded ID, the sleeve couldn't ...

Re: Rear axle bearing sleeve
Ok, another question... (In case you haven't guessed, I am in the middle of the tear-down and seal replacement) When I removed the sleeve, the inner seal, ( a modern one, but a two-piece consisting of a holder and regular type oil seal) came out with it. Fine. After that there was what I originally ...

Yep, you are correct. It did. I just didn't expect it to be that hard to move.

Ok, a follow-up. Finally got it out, it was just being difficult. I did use a hose clamp to compress as soon as it was out about 1/4"-3/8" inches, that helped.

Rear axle bearing sleeve
Ok, I've found old threads on this, but I am still stumped. Supposedly, you remove the rear bearing sleeve with the tool sold by suppliers by engaging the tool in the grease cup hole and then turning clockwise. Yeah, right... What about that "dimple" that's supposed to keep the sleeve aligned? I see...

Conroe, TX fall swap meet
I used to go to this meet when it was operated by another organization. That was over 10 years ago. Has anyone gone in recent years? If so, is it worth it for T stuff. Pictures suggest mainly 50's on. I'm thinking of going but don't want to waste my time if there is very little T stuff. Thanks, Greg

Thanks also to the ones who posted recently. I generally keep the spark advanced about 2/3rds. I will try adjusting the carb. Seems I did that yesterday but she started to miss a bit. Question… I have a 15 roadster that cools via thermosiphon. Worked beautifully, stayed right at the midpoint on the motometer. It recently started misbehaving. Pegged out on a 3-4 mile run. When I got back, I noticed the fan was not turning. It was a recent restoration and while the fan had grease p...

Re: What’s the trick to a smooth transition between low and high gear?
Thanks to all who made comments ! Last weekend, I awakened my 23 touring after a 15 year sleep. Things seemed to be going very well until I took her out for a brief run. Shifting from low to high was accompanied by severe lugging which did not disappear once I got the beast up to speed. Made a list ...

Shifting low to high
I've been driving Ts for a while, and there is one thing I've never mastered. Not sure if it's ignorance or whether it's just not going to happen.
Is there a way to shift from low to high without the engine lugging as it goes into high gear? I never seem to get it right.
Thx!
Greg

What kind of grease, (if any) do you put on the speedo gears on the drive wheel. I can argue none, given the fact that grease will hold dust and turn the goo into a grinding compound, but hey, what do I know?
