On my closed cab, there were no blocks on the rear cab mounts. The heavy gauge bottom cab plate bolted directly to the frame. There are however wood blocks up front. It's been several decades ago, but I seem to recall the forward mounts had 3 bolts, one large center, one smaller that attached throug...

Right/wrong/indifferent, I did dress up the outer relief (inner facing) edge with a thin layer of RTV to help seal the outer edge against the tube/face. But, thin/skim, certainly nothing that could have caused that much clearance issue.

Re: Ford Model T Touring from year 1910

The reason you question it is that youre looking thru purist eyes giving credence and legitimacy to all the suggestions offered. But that wasn't the issue (not that I know specifically why he was removed). But here's my opinion. The OP was decidedly acerbic, Machiavelian, narcissistic and psychopath...

Re: Snapping noise in transmission

When I got Daisy Mae started the first time I already knew the tranny was worn given 3/8" play in the drum pack, but otherwise appeared decent. The rear end wasn't making any undue noise, so, I opted for a once around the block test drive. Two things noted, delayed clutch engagement, but also a loud...

My birthday present at 7 yrs old.... what started me on my love of T's...
I had the entire 'Yesteryear' collection, but this one was my favorite.
I take exception to the description of the T being "somewhat ugly".....says who?!?!?

Wish I could make it up there, I'd snag 'em. They are lunatic expensive to ship, and I'd love a spare one in decent shape. Every one I've seen or got my hands on require extensive repair, if even possible in some cases. But I hate even more the idea of these parts being junked being harder to find. ...

Re: Rear axle dumb question of the day

@ Jerry Well, not quite impossible... Between my axle bearings being shot, and the fact that my diff carrier studs all worked loose (cottered, not wired) introducing a ton of slop in the carrier, one diff pin was eaten where the loose plate had deeply cut thru the diff collar. But to your point, yes...

You have to throw away the bad parts and use good ones. My axle, while still miraculously working, was toast. The only things being reused in the rebuild are the axle halves and torque tube. Most all else are new parts: Axles Drive shaft Drive shaft tapered roller bearing cartridge DS bushing Ring ...

Rear axle dumb question of the day

So I'm in process of setting up my rear axle. The original thrust bearing washers ate thru the pins and subsequently dropped enough to chew into the diff carrier collar. Assembling the new means setting the washers with some grease to hold in place and keep the plates dropping off the pins. The goal...

IMO there are no quality small flags out there....none found yet anyway. My wife has a sewing machine and runs a wide stitch around the borders, and, as Terry suggested, we tried fabric glue. First tried wiping the edges down on both sides of the stitch about an inch width with fabric glue, but the ...

Yes. Demotivating? Yes. I got to the point of hating seeing it in the garage. It represented failure...

Always a sad day when you lose your home, but to lose a treasure like an antique car just adds to the pain.

Living on the FL Emerald Coast, my steel shop is built certified to 180mph wind. Safer riding it out there than in the home, if it wasn't for the fact the noise is hugely amplified!
