Re: Roof 16 valves cilinder head.

eng18.jpg That is so great. I have been hunting for a Roof Type A as it is the correct head for my car. The Lawwell Special. It raced a BB later in its life, but originally had an A. You can see it in this photo which is from a clipping in the Roof family archive. This is my head 9693.jpeg9694.jpeg

Re: BENNETT Carburetor

Looks like Wilcox-Bennett made petroleum carburetors in Minnesota. There is an ad on eBay and some photos of their manufacturing in the Minnesota State archives. I'm on my mobile device so uploading photos here is kinda a pain.

Re: Roof 16 valves cilinder head.

PS: For those that are interested, I would class this as a BB head as it has the 1.5 inch valve opening with the additional clearance in the combustion chamber for the larger valves. Note in the combustion chamber that the valve openings are scalloped out of the main chamber. On a B they are fully c...

Re: Roof 16 valves cilinder head.

Kevin, Just to follow up here. I exchanged a series of emails with Andre outside of the forum, mainly because it was easier to share photos and he reached out to me directly there. I think there is more going on here as well. This series of Roof rocker arms has 4 distinct parts (for both C and B / B...

Re: Roof 16 valves cilinder head.

Andre, I have extensive information about these Roof heads and own some of them. I am compiling a history of Robert Roof and have information from a variety of original historical sources. Please don't hesitate to ask. There is also a good community of people here who are experienced working on them...

There might be someone attending the Harry Miller Club meet in Milwaukee this summer that could bring it back. I'll keep an ear to the ground. Not timely I know.

Is it my imagination, or is that nut welded to the shaft?
The nut is just the thin hexagonal bit I believe.

Pretty sure the tabbed lock washers were the same between the 2 and 3 speed. If you need one, we had some made up a few years ago. Send me an email and I will the info to you.
Okay, thank you! I'll reach out.

Re: Aluminum Warford 3-speed Disassembly

Warfords are all right hand thread with the nut snug then the retaining tang washer has a few tabs bent over to hold in place. I recommend finding someone with an original or reprinted manual for reassembly and adjustments. Hank Great. Thanks. Do the manuals contain those instructions or just servi...

Aluminum Warford 3-speed Disassembly

Hi all, I'm working on disassembling my 3-speed aluminum Warford to clean it up and to change one of the gears out. The transmission was found in disuse, but inside was well lubricated and in generally good condition. The teeth on one gear were munched pretty bad, but other than that all looks well....

Re: Mystery Crankshaft

Thanks Dan! Is there a good place to look for history / documentation of Joe's work? Did he have a machine shop as a profession or was he a hobbyist? I'd be really interested in reading up on him. Yes, understand the concerns about potential failure. May just get a scat and keep this for history...o...

Hi Friends, I know it has been some time since this thread was alive, but I recently came into possession of what I believe is a Joe Morris crankshaft inside of an engine block that is bored .080 over with aluminum pistons. It matches the description of the welded / press fit construction. Images of...

Columbo Cross-Drive Magneto Setup on Ebay

Hi all, Just wanted to highlight a Columbo cross drive magneto setup that is available on Ebay closing today. Current bids are at $300 + 65 shipping. Comes with a DU4 in need of restoration. Would be a neat addition to a speedster project if you can get it working. Not my listing, just passing on to...

WTB - Strong Sight Feed Oiler
