Re: Just bought a 1926 unmolested Fordor Body

According to matching serial numbers on the engine and frame my Fordor was built during the first half of February 1926, and according to the number on the body floor frame it came from Highland Park. The seats are gray with red pin stripes. I will paint the body “maroon” with black fenders. Thanks ...

Re: Just bought a 1926 unmolested Fordor Body

Bare metal under the red on my Fordor.

Maybe that’s what maroon looks like after 93 years?

Seats are gray with red pin stripes.

THANKS ALL!!!

Re: Just bought a 1926 unmolested Fordor Body

Matt, I have not yet mastered the process of posting photos but I will try again. May have to wait awhile as I am headed out of town.

Marshall, if you are keeping up with this, can you provide some history on this particular Fordor.

My goal on this project is restoration to original.

THANKS ALL

Re: Just bought a 1926 unmolested Fordor Body

I don’t mean to keep running over the same dead cat but when I Google “1926 Fordor Photos” I find at least two examples of the same bright red seen here and in traces on my 1926 Fordor. My upholstery is gray with red stripes. All the literature says it should be maroon but I can find no trace of tha...

Re: Just bought a 1926 unmolested Fordor Body

My 1926 Fordor exhibits that same red color under a black over coat. Also seen under the cowl vent door. Could this be an original color?

Re: Just bought a 1926 unmolested Fordor Body

I am restoring a 1926 Fordor and I am finding traces of that same red color. Could that be the original color? I thought the 26 Fordors were either maroon or black.

Signal Lights???

When it comes to my Fordor restoration I am a purist. Not so much on my TT and not at all on my Speedster, but I want the Fordor to be as much like the way Henry made it as possible. I plan on driving it on city streets and country roads so I’m looking for a quick connect, easy to install and remove...

Re: Wood Spoked Wheel Wobble.

This is a 1926 Fordor. It was all original but had no wheels. I acquired used wheels without rims and tires to get it home. Three of the four needed to be re-spoked. I bought the spokes from Lang’s, viewed a video and pressed them in. Probably too tight. All three wobbled but the left front was wors...

Wood Spoked Wheel Wobble.

How much wheel wobble, or any, is normal or acceptable?

I re-spoked three wheels and all four have about 1/4” of wobble.

On another T I recently acquired I notice about the same. I haven’t checked my TT yet.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: 1926/27 Fordor Body Part(s)-getting desperate!

Thanks to all who responded, especially Les who dug one out of the snow and Bob who scoured and found one. With minor mig welding and straitening the part is in place and the body is ready to prime.

GREAT FORUM!!!

Re: Is Florida ethanol different?

After ruining a chain saw, a weed wicker, and almost an out board I don’t put ethanol in anything I don’t run almost every day. My TT, Fordor, future Speedster, 42 Ford GPW, and 46 Willys CJ2A will only see 100% gasoline. Don’t know why it cost more cause it’s cheaper to make.

Joel, I am planning a brass era speedster project in the future. I found a plastic model kit on line manufactured by ICM. Their kit number 24015.

I will use the model to plan my full size version.

Good luck,

Re: 1926/27 Fordor Body Part(s)-getting desperate!

Henry, the rust out extends about 3 or 4 inches up from the bottom effecting the most compound curves on the entire car.

If I could figure out how to post photos I would attach pictures.

Re: 1926/27 Fordor Body Part(s)-getting desperate!

Les thanks for the effort. You are the second one to have the right side part but not the left. I must be out of favor with Henry’s spirit. David thanks for your recommendation. The 1926/27 Fords were called “improved.” The part I need was apparently one of the improvements and didn’t exist on the e...

1926/27 Fordor Body Part(s)-getting desperate!

This is my third and final try by Forum. My project is on hold for the need of a drivers side sheet metal pillar between left front door and cowl. 1926 Fordor Body Part Still Needed

I posted a request for a 1926 Fordor “pillar” last November and received three promising replies: a recommendation to contact Mark Freimiller at Model T Haven. He had the passenger side but not the driver side; Robert Bergstadt at Bob’s Auto Parts. He said he would look; and Mike Peterson who said h...
