Could it be that when you go forward there is a natural flow of air through the radiator. In reverse, not so much.

Toe-In on 1926 Runabout
Since sprucing up my '26 Roadster for my Granddaughter's graduation party, I have been driving it quite a bit. I am trying to fine tune some aspects of the car and this led me to steering issues. I discovered a worn ball and cap where the drag link attaches to the tie rod. I replaced them and decide...

That is a really cool find!! As mentioned above, this was a common arrangement on several makes of the era. 1925 Chevy had this setup plus the oil pump added onto the rear.

Well, I'm kinda new here so I might as well get started by P___ing someone off. Art just asked for some advice about un-sticking some valves. He knows what the car owner wants and what he is willing to spend. He seems to be approaching the job with an open mind and some flexibility and common sense....

I don't know about the geometry of the spark lever on your 1916, as compared my 1926, but I drive with the lever at 6 oclock. Try some more timing.

Congratulations to the new owner. On the subject of new young hobbyests, I have a pretty large pile of Model T stuff in mid Missouri. No fancy or rare stuff just the same variety that everyone has. I will gladly give parts to young folks who are trying to assemble or restore a car. Mike Russell Colu...

Re: Fan hub leaking oil
Thanks everyone for the input. The bushings are new, as I stated in my original post, with about 5 or 6 hours of run time. It is hard for me to imagine that there is enough wear to cause the belt to run off center but I will check it out. Allan, I have the late style fan bracket that is part of the ...

Fan hub leaking oil
I replaced the fan hub in my '26 Runabout. I installed new bushings and had to ream (very slightly) to get the used shaft in. It took a bit of a push to get the unworn center section of the shaft to go past the bushing. It seemed to be an appropriate fit, once in place. I rubbed grease into the felt...

Re: Rear axle outer bearing removal
I had leakage but I think it was due to oil migration from the engine. The diff was way over full. I drained off the excess and removed as much of the thinned out remaining oil, as I could. I topped off with 90W. The u-joint ball is now pumped full of gun grease and I will look at the 4th main in th...

Yes, the hub is extended forward. This car was given to me in 1966, by a family friend. He bought it at a farm auction in 1953 from the original owner. The car has been in central Missouri since new. Jim, Thanks for the detailed illustration. It brings up a question though. My hub is extended to bring the fan closer to the radiator. What is a suitable oil for my fan hub?
It seems like regular 30W or similar oil would seep out. Maybe that is the plan and the reason for the reservoir.

I removed my rear spring and dismantled it. Nothing is cracked or broken. I was careful to reassemble it with all leaves in the same orientation as before. I installed the spring turned end for end to they way I took it apart. The measurements stayed the same. My rear crossmember is about 1/2 inch h...

Re: Trying to level my frame
The aforementioned 1/2 half inch was before the spring clams were anywhere near tight. The situation gets worse as the clamps get tighter. I was measuring at the lip of the rear crossmember where it terminates near the outer end. 1/2 inch there is more at the outer corner of the body. I have a NORS ...

Re: Trying to level my frame
The spring center bolt is in the hole where it belongs. I did not lift the frame high enough to see if there was padding but I think I can see it through the dowel holes in the top of the crossmember. I will track down the other threads and see what I can learn. Thanks.

Thanks everyone. After I posted my question, I found an original block. I figured there was some shrinkage and came to the conclusion that 3/4" was the right thickness. Re: Why can’t 21” tire flaps for wood wheels be used in 21” Ford wire wheels
Mounting would be almost impossible on a drop center wheel. When mounting a tire on a split/demountable rim, the tire/tube/flap assembly goes on together. The split rim is drawn together so that it will go inside. I was taught that the same is true on clincher rims. Assemble the tire/tube/flap and s...
