Re: 1917 spare tire mount

In my initial post I should have mentioned that I have 4.50X21 dismountable tires & rims so I will need a later year rear spare mount to add to my 1817 car
Thanks for the reply's

1917 spare tire mount

What does the spare tire mount look like and how does it mount on a 1917 touring car?
I picked up one at an auction, with 2 ears cut off but don't know if it is correct or where it attached.

Scott, I would love to find instructions---I see a lot of photos with the arms in different positions, some obviously wrong

Re: Seeping sediment bulb

I had the same problem & bought a new one from Snyder's last week $85 but problem solved and it looked just like the one that I removed

Re: Gas tank cover for 1918

The cover on my 1917 tourer is sheet metal and hinged at the rear with about a 1" finger hole to lift it up in the middle as well as a hole over the gas cap

Timers?

What is the best timer? Snyders lists roller timers, New Day timers & Anderson timers.
I am interested in best performance & dependability. I am a new owner of a 1917 touring car.
Thanks

Dip stick?

Snyder's sells a oil dip stick kit, so you don't have to go under the car and open the petcocks to check the oil.
Do any of you have experience with one?
Are they accurate?
Any recommendations for or against installing one?
At 83 I don't like crawling under the car any more than necessary.

Re: Engine oil & coolant

Thanks, guys---I appreciate the responses---Looks like I will try 10-30 oil & 50/50 coolant
The last owner told me he used some type of hydraulic oil in it (hope it hasn't done any damage).
