Re: Airconditioning in Model T?

FWIW, long ago in days of working 24/7 and Company Cars, I would sometimes be in some of the hotter parts of the United States, I found out about the Swamp Fans. They worked reasonably well in the dryer parts of the States, West Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, etc., but really cooled only if it was dry. ...

Re: This was trucking-Old Photos

The posting by Mr. Iffrig of 15 May brings to mind one I saw in Cody, Wyoming in the '80's. The oilfield was in one of it's Boom and Bust cycles, and activity was at it's peak, wells were being drilled where they had never thought of drilling before. Anyhow, while standing in front of the old Cody H...

Re: PARTS OF MODEL T FORDS USED FOR OTHER THINGS,

Both of my Grand Daddy's were old time Country Blacksmiths, we never did have electricity, so they flame welded, and it worked as good or better than an electric machine. I think everything on both places were made out of old T parts, both used T axles to make Spurs, they swore by the steel in them....

Re: Antique Pocket watches

Look up NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors). It is an International Organization, I was a Member from the beginning,oh so many years ago, but got to where I couldn't see and lost the ability to hold things. I am sure that you can get lots of help from them on locating a Repair...

Re: Nice Day For A Swim (photo)

The lot of of my younger days were spent in Central Texas in Hays County, not much there but cedar and rocks. On our monthly trip to Austin to trade butter and eggs, my Grandfather, Grandmother (who helped raise me) and my Brother would all get into my Grandfather's Coupe, I have no idea what year i...

Re: Take a look at these spurs!!

Both of my Grand Daddy's were old time Country Blacksmiths, forge, flame weld and all. They both used Model T axles to make spurs, even though they were in different parts of Texas, I suppose that was common practice back then. I still have one set of spurs one of them made me, they are just as bright...

Re: Local Ford Agency Blank Check

Not exactly the same, but when I first started using or getting checks they were what were called "Counter Checks". You just basically filled one in with the name of your Bank and etc., the Merchants and all had these blank checks on their counters to use, hence the name. Hard to imagine how honest ...

Re: Interesting Discovery Today

Back in my days of working and Company cars, I would usually get a new one every year when the new models came out. It was a real thrill for the kids when I traded, because I would take out the back seat, and they would get all the loose change that would be there. There were times when there would ...

Probably 40 or so years ago,in my wanderings I would go through and to Rio Grande City, Texas, which is on Texas 83 to the South and West of Laredo. Last weekend I made a long trip(for me) of about 300 miles. I drive little anymore except an occasional trip to Town. On my trip,my Wife, Daughter and Son drove me crazy calling on my cell phone to check on me, and I pull off the road to answer a call, so it was hectic. When I got to my Friends, the...

Re: Buying gas from a visible gas pump

Doesn't seem all that long ago, but it was. Both sets of my Grandparents had very small Country Stores, and they were in even smaller communities. Both had the gas pumps described, and I pumped many a gallon of gasoline through one of them. Sometimes we would pump it full to the 10 gallon mark, and ...

Re: Where were you 50 years ago?

I was living in Austin, Texas, with my Wife and two kids. I was determined to watch this Show in color. We had a small, probably 12", black and white TV with the Rabbit Ear antennae, ran a wire over to a window screen for better reception. I started looking for a used color set, the system was still...

After two or three days of 21 F, I am afraid the Peach Crop for this year is gone, lots of orchards were in full bloom and some leafing out, unusual for us. All the Wife's flowers took a dive, and my Fig tree as well. My stock tank froze over twice this week, also a bit unusual. I'm going to start my...

Enough to make you cry, big, tree shaded front yards, big wrap around porches (with chairs), no fences, folks in their Bib and Tucker, where did it all go? I dearly love Wyoming, worked up there for years, and would gladly have retired there to Big Piney, but the Wife couldn't take the winters. I remember well a trip headed West on I-80, the wind warnings were up, too late for many that had hit it in the night. They had routed traffic to the North and ...

I have always had a "Foot Feed" on my 1925, and it makes it so much easier to shift my Warford, and I know it is easier on it's internals using it. I drove some of the big oilfield trucks with multi speed Brown-Lipes for years, and throttle usage is important for shifting the multi-speed systems. I ...

There was an old Shop in Georgetown, Texas, that had been the Ford Dealer back when. He said that he got new cars crated as show, put them together, and taught you to drive one, all for one price. He did a valve job on my 1926 in the 1950's, he was still going strong at the time but shut it down abo...

I personally like Lubri Plate, I have used it for everything in this world since it's introduction way back.
