I always use new spools for the reason listed above. The old ones bust.
Also always have my crank guy dress the flange on crank. Every crank, if you don’t you are wasting your time and money.
And, every transmission gets a new main shaft. Never seen a Ford shaft that was any where near true.

Good cams on brake pedals are getting harder to find.
They are all 100 years old. And what pedal gets used more?
Best fix is a new Rocky Mountain brake pedal and new cam.
But that should also include rebushing the Hogs Head. Good luck Dan .

There is a back issue of VF that has a good description on doing a in car charging. Measure the resistance of mag coil. Should read around.5ohm to ground. You need to hook with the guys around Luray. Looks to be close to you. They can get you the help you need. The swap meet there is one of the best in the country.
Also a picture of the damage would help.

Check for air leak on intake manifold.

It is more about dew point than vaporization of fuel. Look up carburetor icing. Where I live we need them more in summer than any other time of year. Dan
