Re: Rewooding 1924, Pillar attachment.

Two #12 wood screws in a diagonal pattern attach the pillars. The pillars also have additional fasteners for the front seat heal panel bracket and for the frame bracket attachments and these are all countersunk. The metal skin nails to the underside of the sill.

Merry Christmas to you too!

Re: Leon Parker's rewooding plans

How could Leon legally sell them if they are Mel’s with modifications?

Re: Leon Parker's rewooding plans

I have not seen all of the plan sets but the ones I have seen all have a copyright by Mel Miller on them. However, Leon’s daughter has stated that Leon altered Mel’s plans to correct some errors and add additional information. That seems to have taken place many years ago as Leon had been selling th...

Re: Creation of new rewooding plans?

Scott - the discrepancies are minor. Overall I was very pleased with his plans. One example of a discrepancy is that the overall side view showed a mortise but the mortise is missing when you go to the specific drawing of that piece. Minor things like that is what I was referring too. I am not sayin...

Re: Creation of new rewooding plans?

The plans that I would create would not look like Mel’s. However, The pieces would look the same as that is a Ford design. I did buy the plans from Leon when I made the wood for my car. However, I did discover that some dimensions were missing and they also had some other discrepancies so I would be...

Creation of new rewooding plans?

I originally posted this in the 26-27 Roadster Wood topic but have realized that it would probably get more feedback from members if I started a new thread. Dan Treace has responded on that thread already and I thank him for that. Maybe for convenience he will copy it onto this one too? I am an arch...

Re: 26-27 Roadster wood

I am an architect and have been contemplating drawing plans for rewooding our cars. I would not be copying Mel’s plans but would be compiling information from forum members as necessary. I have rewooded a 24 Touring but no other cars. I also own a 25 Roadster that has no upholstery in place but it’s...

1924 Windshield Stanchion Attachment Bolt Head Diameter

Can anyone tell me the carriage bolt head diameter that attaches the windshield stanchions to the body for a 1924 Touring? The square holes in the stanchion fit a 5/16” carriage bolt but the modern head for this bolt seams to be too large looking. I am not going for a show car but I would still like...

Re: Piston Options For “A” Crank T Engine

I purchased my engine with it already converted to an Model A crank and it came with Ford 292 V8 pistons. I have no idea what the skirt size is. Don’t know if this helps you any.

Re: 1927 Engine with Model A crank ??

I have heard about the pan dimples from many people. However, the engine that I purchased that had an A crank installed already didn’t hit the side of the pan. The rods were ground to clear the cam and the inspection cover at the rear did need to be bent and the rear cover horseshoe is now 3 pieces ...

Re: BUSINESS FOR SALE

I see several problems with selling the business. The value of the business is not one of them. Not many people that are at or near retirement want to start running a business, most likely the entire business including inventory needs to be relocated to where the new owner is, the owner needs to kno...

Re: Whats the Name of your T?

My 24 Touring is named Holbert. It is a combination of my friend Holger who recently passed away and my father Robert who is fortunately still with me. Holger donated the line drive shaft to the museum that has been in the magazine recently.

Re: A Big Photo

ImageSomeday my car will look like Dan’s. The engine now runs but I don’t have a recent photo of it yet.

Why is my photo rotated? It wasn’t rotated in my photo library on my IPhone
