Hi all, I hoping for some history on the aftermarket gas tank suppliers.
Not available? Who has the patterns for inlet and outlet castings? Was the business offered for sale?
I plan on making one for my 09 . The sheet metal forming doesn't look that difficult. I'd prefer not to rob my original tank parts for the project.
Anyone else needing...

Your 1909 round tank with riveted brackets likely hard to replicate. Don't know if this builder of the later round tanks and oval tanks could help.
The inlet and outlet maybe could be used as the later types used, but may not be exact as the original. You could call the builder and ask, he may help if you supply the original tank as pattern....

Which is correct? Bolts and safety wire, or nut and lock washer?

As posted, use bolts, castle nuts and cotter nut to bolt end. The bolts pass into the cap but will thread into the drag link. The nut and cotter keeps bolts in place.

An excessively lean mixture can be hard on exhaust valves and will lower power output and cause issues like lean backfire and an increased tendency to overheat. Ford did encourage operators to lean out the mixture, consistent with good performance, once the engine was warmed up, for best economy and reduced carbon deposition. That said, going to...

A thinned down wrench to hold the nut next to the starter switch mounting plate means you can hold that nut in place when wrenching on the cable retaining nut. That way you will not be turning the stud bolt in the switch.
The same applies to starter and generator terminals.

My passenger rear had three loose spokes and when I jacked up the car it turned into more than a couple.
I ended up depleting the supply of U shims I had access to (8) and the wheel tightened up just fine.
It now has a bit of side to side wobble.

Willy. Be sure to realize that a Ruckstell is a mid range drive and not an overdrive. That's a lot of $$$. bobt
Leave the hubcap off the rear wheels to remind you to check the tension on the axle nuts once you have done a few trips/miles. Things settle in after a bit of use. You may get another slot or two.

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to install a RICARDO PAT NOV 13 1923 HEAD & would like to send it out to have it surfaced .010 to get a better gasket seal but I'm
concerned about piston clearance. The current area over the piston is .423 so I would end up with .413 with a gasket crush of .050 to .060.
I have found info on line of the stock compression...

Put a ball of modeling clay on top of each piston then put the head on and crank it over and remove the head and see how much you squish the clay. You can buy the clay at the dollar ($1.35) store. bobt

Im holding an old spoke up to a new spoke in my 22's wheels, which has the slightly longer spoke.
I'm 80% sure they are hayes,...

All of our 21 wheels have the straight up outer edge on the felloes. i have never seen that on a 23 rim here. where Kelsey in Canada seem to have been the major/only supplier.
Interestingly, 21 Hayes wire wheels have an outer edge of the felloe rolled to the outside, making the relief for the lug foot even more interesting.

Art, that is a great idea. Just don't use so much adhesive that you trap an air bubble in the socket that may prevent the bow seating all the way down. In woodworking, dowels often have a slot in the side, or are fluted all round, to allow air to escape as the parts are assembled.

TURN SIGNAL FLASHER

First post
Installing a turn signal flasher on my 27 Touring. Pretty simple schematic or wiring diagram if you prefer.
Once installed and system powered up the turn signals both work correctly.
When the turn signals are NOT on, the flasher buzzes and none of the turn signals are on or flashing.
What's going on?
Last post
I installed ours two months ago but I hear a lack of information.
Just some general questions:
Is it an electronic flasher or thermal?
Does the flasher have it's own ground wire?
Does it buzz then head lights are ON? OFF?
Does it buzz then the engine is ON? OFF?
Are you using incandescent or LED bulbs?
Are you using two separate sockets per...

This is an UNSOLICITED post. Sometimes you're just so impressed w/ a product you have to let everyone know about. I just installed 2 of these 6 volt LED Headlight bulbs
I'm literally BLOWN away, and it takes a LOT for me to say that about a product. These are actually originally made for video projectors which explains why the pattern is so...

I'm reluctant to use LED bulbs in my Model T... First off, they're not a period accessory, Second, they are way too bright for a 100 year old car, and Third, the light they throw is white! I'm sorry but Model T's are know for their annoyingly dim, yellowish headlamps! The solution, don't drive a Model T at night
I think that’s all fine...

This story has taken about 15 years to finally complete. 1910 Model T ford #23805 was sold by Hickman, Lauson and Diener company in Milwaukie, WI. on may 6, 1910. The buyer was H. B. Foster Of Port Washington, WI. Foster was described as the local Ford agent in the book The spirit of west bend By Dorothy E Williams. She relates that Foster only...

If you’ve ever wondered how wooden body parts were made…

Well, here’s the answer.
They were made with a dovetail glue jointing machine. One picture is the original rear seat heel panel from my 22 sedan. It’s made of two pieces jointed together.
The other is the piece that the rear seat cushion sits on. It is made of three pieces jointed together with one of the pieces having a completely different...

Franklin Automobile Co. made EXTENSIVE use of Linderman Machines on virtually all wood parts except chassis frames. (Frame laminations were all knot-free Ash or Maple of a specified size and thickness. The wood chassis frame on my 1926 Franklin is still in excellent condition, and the doors are perfectly aligned and close like a bank vault door!)...

The distributor cap looks correct for the ZR4 Dual. There should be two connections on the other (input) end of the magneto. One of these is the 5th terminal.

I just received my Warford this week. I got on the list at the end of October so it was right at 6 months.
John allowed me to send them my driveshaft and torque tube for shortening while I waited so now I have everything ready to go for the installation.
That worked out great.
Got mine today! IMG_5603.jpeg

The Mile High Pedal Pushers Club has decided to NOT hold a Swap Meet this year. Reasons: Lack of Buyers, Lack of Vendors. and, the venue has site construction on going, so there is no place to hold a swap meet this year.

Problem is, I don't remember whether the fabric straps on the...

From the factory, there were no webbing straps undere the top.
The top pads serve that purpose and, if they are made correctly, they have canvas sewn inside them. There are two pieces of leatherette top material sewn down the middle tacked between the first and second bow as reinforcement (finished side down in the photos below).

I found a simple way to measure the angle. Quite stupid I never thought of it, but better late than never. I measured angles at the crank handle. I measured the angle at the point where the buzzer starts buzzing and the angle when the buzzer is silent again. It appears to be slightly less than 45 degrees. So that is half of the original angle, so...

Hi all,
I'm installing a new top and I'm looking at the correct height of the #2 and #3 bows from the front of the windshield. In period photos, the #2 is almost always lower than the #3 bow. I can't seem to get the #2 bow lower. Mine always seems to be at the same height or above the #3 bow. The drawings I've found show that the height of the #2...

John, a couple of tips, some learned, some taught by my trimmer.
The back bow should be between 1.5 and 2 rearward of the top of the back panel.
Before the webbing straps are nailed down, the bows can be positioned by tacking thin wooden laths to the underside of the bows, measuring as you go. Two short ones set the back bow square across the back...
