2AE6FD3B-CED8-4813-8FBC-88E2BB4B98C9.jpeg I found this little guy here and am wondering if it’s a cast imperfection or a crack? Just my observation Iam thinking on the casting side of things. But Iam sure folks on here have seen some things over the years so I brought it here for discussion. What do you think? Leave it be or try to fix?

I was suspecting it has been there a long time. The engine builder didn’t seemed concerned and the rest of the block was checked out and passed the test so I assume all is good. Otherwise it made a nice topic and I thank all who played! 👍

Does anyone know what size (width) the window channel is on a fordor I think it is 5/8 like a model A but not sure. Langs has not had any for a while also any place to get it in long length so i can eliminate waste and and where to maybe get it. Thanks for any help you can give.

I remember a reference to StanPro division of Cooper Standard Automotive in Novi MI as a source of many types of replacement channel, and one of the suppliers to our model T parts shops. Change length steering column

by
Emeraude » Fri Feb 11, 2022 10:05 am
First post
I am using a 24 roadster running gear making a pie wagon replica. I am using a 3/4 inch plywood firewall and as a result the steering shaft is to short as the spark and throttle rods are short in the steering bracket on the frame.
My question is can I grind off the rivets on the column collar move it back the needed distance and reattach?
Last post
i would like to thank all the replys to my question on the length of my steering column. I tried txgoat2 suggestion on making the hole in the firewall slightly bigger than the flange and securing it to the engine side. It worked and now have the correct length on both rods.

Hello...I used to be a member along with my dad when he and I restored a 1919 touring T in the Late 60's and again in the early Naughts with a 1926 Touring.
That said, I'm here to ask a couple of questions about Ash wood framing and people who know about this are few and far between.
Except for T People.
This is actually about a Morris Minor...

Exposed end grain acts like a wick to absorb moisture and cause rot. For some reason, wood will rot faster when in contact with steel, such as around nails and bolts whenever moisture is present. For that reason, I'd want to seal bolt holes through wooden parts before installing the piece. Car bodies are excellent moisture and dust traps, and any...

Absolutely, so long as the fabric is correct width for original roller. Fabric is stapled to wood roller, make sure you get it absolutely square & straight. jb

Flux was also sometimes applied by waxy-like sticks with similar application difficulties. All of those methods resulted in excess flux being splattered all around the work area.
Sure was done that way! Note the worker on the right as he smears flux on the parts, the hole in the forging holds the brass wire that is melted to braze the joint....

I mix a quart at a time. I thin it just a tiny bit so it soaks into the open grain of the wood nicely so the high build primer doesn’t soak in as much. It is compatible with the primer so that is the way I do it.

Matt,
You are on the right way.
I use paint stripper heat air gun, but pay attention not to burn the wood and take your time to open the box one piece at the time.
If some of the panels like to stay togheter just leave them. You just need to take out the coils and work inside the box.
Good luck

Would agree, keep to .040 for best results.
Also, have never placed a head gasket dry. Have always use good sealer, Permatex Copper gasket sealant, or quality alum spray paint with lots of metallic content, on both sides of the head gasket. No failures using good torque sequence too.

Generator not charging on 1925 T

I bought a rebuilt generator but doesn’t show a charge on ammeter. Checked all wiring and seems to correct. Input wire to generator indicates 6.3 volts. Stud on generator no indicating any voltage. Do I need to flash the generator? Cutout replaced but didn’t solve problem.
Last post
My last and final comment, what is the difference between turning the generator on a bench device with an electric motor and turning the generator on the motor?
No difference at all. That's how I test mine, on a bench device. The issue was with running the generator with no load applied. Doing that, either on a car, or on a test stand, can/will...

1913 Engine Block Main Bearing Caps

I'm working to pour new Babbitt in a 13 block, but the first and second main caps have thrust on them, which seems odd as compared to all the other engines I've done. Honestly, this will be the oldest engine I've done. I'm used to seeing thrust only on the third bearing cap. Is this normal or is this a home-brew modification that someone did over...
Last post
You only want thrust to be taken on one bearing, which allows for block and cranshaft differential expansion under heat.

The level was for me to move the car around so I could find level, and could remove some oil.

You never know how critters get in. A few years ago I thought I heard mice scampering around the attic above my bed. So set some traps up there and one morning, I was awakened to a snap. I thought I would go up there after I got up to see what I had trapped. It kept moving around and so I went up there quite early, and I didn't find the trap where...

Early carb float hinges
by
Allan » Sat Feb 05, 2022 7:32 pm
The hinge on the left is from a Holley H1. I took it out to check it against the other one, as I need a second one for a parts carb I bought
I was going to ask what the second one fitted, but a Kym Dobbins post about a Kingston 4 ball looks to have sorted that out. The assembly I have looks like new old stock. If anyone needs it let me know....

Go to your name on top header and open your user data, then click on message board to go to your long list of messages. At the lower right bottom is a icon with upright, click on that and it opens the menu to do what you want, then mark them marked and then delete the list with a click.

So my project to address leaking axle seals may have morphed into a bigger project. I removed the rear end from my 1924 TT to address the inner oil seals which I knew were bad. I had patched things together last year by replacing the inner and out bearing seals but knew that I was getting differential oil down the axle housing to the bearings. I...

Thanks for all of the replies. I think I have found a good worm gear. No joy yet on the axle so may just put back together and make sure its well greased. Through researching on this forum, I got connected with Tom at Model A Works and he has a set of properly sized felts coming for the inside seals and the driveshaft. I know they won’t perfectly...

It appears to me that if the emergency circuit has a simple single pole on-off switch, the right/left switch will activate both sides together. I think the emergency switch needs to have two separate terminals going out, with no connection between them. Is that right?

Is there anything in particular I need to know about centerdoors before I take a look?
How do they hold value compared to other T's?

In my opinion, you won't be disappointed with a Centerdoor as these '20 Model T Centerdoor,p.jpg are not too common when compared to the other body styles.

North America, obviously goes without saying. 39 model K were documented being sent to Canada. Most of those cars were sold within Canada, but a...

Darel,
Good choice. I hope to one day learn there was a K in South America, meaning the model would have been to every inhabited continent.
The last location was Hawaii. The islands were a newer U.S. territory. In 1908 a Model K participated in a reliability contest with a White steamer, Packard, Buicks, Maxwell and Franklin....
