1919 Coil Box ignition switch wires

Having trouble understanding how the magneto and battery posts wire up to the switch. I have the magneto wire running from the post in the back of the coil box, running under the base plate, and running through the slot cut in the front. Now I'm unsure how they're meant to reach the switch, as i see the holes for wires outside of the box. Is there...

It’s best to use the original contacts in the coil box if possible. The originals have a bronze content which make them a little stiffer and springy. Haven’t seen the reproductions lately but as noted the repos are to soft and don’t retain their springiness like the originals.
You need good contact on the coils all the time to keep from having...

Hello. I was driving my 1926 roadster last week and it started making this bup bup sound at idle and i could feel a slight miss every time it did it. It was really making the sound while going down a hill. (The sound was coming from the tailpipe) I checked the compression and it was good. I noticed that #1 and #2 spark plugs were black while #3...

I have lost count of the times that people have gotten curious/concerned/worried over sooty plugs on #1 & #2 cylinders. If the car otherwise runs fine, then just leave the plugs alone and have fun. The popping, (not to be confused with backfiring), through the exhaust on deceleration or going down a hill while engine braking is normal. These are...

I found some greenhouse fabric snap clamps that fit nicely over the tubing of the windshield frame without the need for drilling. I'm also considering using some flat rare-earth magnets sewn in the lower seam to hold the fabric to the door. Not Period in the least although if I'm on tour and it's raining I won't care.

When you want a speedy carb for your car, you might look for Zenith made for a T in the flea market: S4BF with fuel line adapter.png

Good morning. As many of you may know, I listed my original 1926 Model T Fordor sedan on eBay several weeks ago (item #115089579487). My stock 23.has 62 psi. on all 4 cylinders. New rings but not bored 6000 miles ago

Bill is quite right of course, as long as physically reversing the cutout is possible, and you don't get it wrong (let's not apply power to the generator!).

Hello.
My '16 Touring has no generator, bit war upgraded to have an electric starter by the former owner (I guess). Also headlights are electric (6V) with two-filament bulbs.
I do not want to install a dynamo under the hood, this is a too brutal change, so the Magneto is my first choice.

5W or 0W would probably be more suitable for use in Maine than in the Carolinas. A 30W or 40W equivalent at operating temerpature ought to be fine for a T engine. I'd go with a 10W30 for break in, unless in very cold weather, in which case I'd choose a 5W20 or even a 0W20.

Bruce, it depends. Sometimes the process does take some time for the new topcoat to blister/craze whatever. Hi Michael,
Gravity being the weakest but most persistant force in the universe it shoud not be a issue unless it kinks over time. Check it once in awhile, you never know when the extra hose will come in handy.

Every HCCT has a wire from the mag ring terminal to the HCCT.
Disconnct the mag ring wire from the HCCT.
This will isolate the mag ring from the rest of the HCCT.

I am replacing my brake shoes with the one piece with modern lining, because going is fun but stopping can be nice too.
These old shoes don't look familiar to me, are they correct? Anyway they are getting replaced.
My brake cams don't look too bad to me, but I assume they are pretty old as they both have Ford script.

I have old stock lined shoes in all of my cars. Keep in mind, more than one company made them. I like the flanged type the best.

WARNING: Hi volume oil line failure
by
speedytinc » Mon Nov 08, 2021 8:41 am
High volume outside oiler kit.
Tightening the 3/8 flair nut & it acted stripped. The nut had actually split off some threads. The flair nut is obviously cast, not billet. This is on a motor with under 100 miles. Not time enough for fatigue. What if it failed down the road??? This would have gone catastrophic fast. New 6K motor lost!! Cheapest...

Try Restoration Supply Company, Calif. www.RestorationStuff.com
Page 62 in catalog is thermometer for the Senior size meter , the smaller Junior size (used on smaller cars like the T) replacement isn't available.

Class, here is your assignment: tell us what you did (with your Model T) last summer. Remember, without photos, it didn't happen.
So last year we had a Virtual Tour of past years travels in our Model Ts. So now, as some of us are putting the Ts away for winter, how about a recap of your Model T adventures from the past year. Even if you have...

This year was the year of driving the 24 Coupe.
I have been doing some repairs on the 14 Touring and plan to some work on the speedster so this year has been the year of driving the Coupe. It’s been on four week long tours, Joshua Tree, San Francisco, Spokane and Southern Arizona.
The last one was the most challenging as it was progressive with...

Explanation of weight oils then and now
Light = SAE 20
Medium = SAE 30
Heavy = SAE 40
So we know definitively that Ford specified SAE 20 when your Model T was new. Back in those days there was no such thing as detergent oil, and multi – viscosity oil was also decades in the future....

Went to the auto parts store to get fluid to replace on two Ruckstell’s. Found this in the correct weight but the label is confusing me. It says it’s rated GL5 for differentials but GL4 for non-synchromesh transmissions. So is it GL4 or GL5?
Last post
Ford didn't seem to be too particular about what you put in the rear axle. Grease, oil, both, whatever. I'd think a fluid lubricant, like a 90W, would be best. I don't see how a # 2 or heavier grease could be expected to stay where needed in an axle, especially in cold weather. I'd also think that it would be difficult to tell how much you had in...

A 26-7 trans cover may bolt on an 11 but the pedal shafts will not align with the bands. If you change the whole trans to make the bands line up with the pedal shafts, the pan will not fit due to the wider brake band. Staying with any of the earlier parts without the wide brake drum gets around these complcations.

There is a hard rubber piece on top of the metal hand brake plate which is shown in the photo. The suppliers catalogs do not have it. Does anyone know where it could be obtained? Maybe it was added by the owner and not from the factory. 20211031_152737.jpg

With the holes around the perimeter of that rubber draft protector, likely there was a metal frame too, most accessory pieces had a frame. Or sometimes just padded artificial leather pieces. Many types were made for the Ford.

I agree with Anthony's method. If front linkage is in good condition, I recommend 1/32 to 1/4 inch toe in. Keep in mind that one turn on the tie rod changes the toe in by about .22 inches.

Trailer tiedowns. For some reason I cannot find this doing a forum search, and it has been some time since I pulled a car trailer, how do folks tie down a model T on a trailer? I will be transporting a 1924 roadster on an open trailer. Plan to do it with the top down, and leave the hood, seat cushion, and floorboards in place. Recommendations?
