Ben, I had the same problem with the doors on my 1917 shooting brake. Over the seasons, the horizontal joints in the door side panels open and close as they are wont to. Things have been working good with adjustments to the new bands and proper link angle, very little oil weeping around the hogs head and pedal shafts with the new gaskets.

So after another good long ride breaking in the new bands I went around and tightened the split rims to the wheels and noticed the right rear drum was a lot hotter than the left...

This weekend I needed to select 2 outer sleeves for a rux kit build. Of the assorted new sleeves I have, I found quite a bit of variation. One set was .o62 shorter than the others. The thickness varied from .060 to .070
I ended with the .070 thick to use with .004-.006 under roller roller bearings (I have conidered .005 under too worn to reuse....

I'm working on Larry's '13 T. It has a Short Arm NH Carb that I just Re-Bushed, and put the Choke and Throttle Shaft in from Langs. I'm now working on the Choke Rod that goes through the Radiator for Hand Starting. I've not seen anything to describe or show the proper bend to put on the Carb Choke end of the Rod. For the carburetor end, bend the wire about 80 degrees in toward the carburetor, and go about 3/16 in, and then straighten it out again. Cut the wire about 1/4 past that.

I'm planning to mount a Sparton horn on the long radiator to firewall rod over the engine on my 26 Touring. Some said this may not be good for the radiator. I have a Berg's radiator and will mount horn as close to the firewall as I can. Has anyone ever had any issues when you mounted a horn in this manner? Not speculation but had something bad...

Here is a nifty switch I intend to wire up to choose which horn the button will activate. Turn the switch sideways and you'd get a nice discrete turn signal switch!

Shoulda bought my old '25 Chemical truck! Like they all say, same day service .
Topped out at 18 mph, (all stock) so as long as the call came in before 9 PM and

Neither the body on my 1919 touring nor the top bows on my car are original. They both were pieced together, and I did all the wood work myself, so the measurements may be slightly off. With that disclaimer out of the way:

My car measures about 52-1/2 to the insides of the front bow.

I just replaced the sediment bulb and gas line. Primed the engine using the front crank. Then started the car, runs for about 20-30 seconds and cuts off but I'm not sure if I hear a knock. What do you think?

If it sounds ok I think my next step is to clean out the carb.

Does anyone have recent experience in getting a title for a Model T in Michigan that has none? A friend is looking at a '21 that was inherited after the passing of the former owner and supposedly there is no title on the vehicle. We have yet to discuss this in detail with the seller but want to go prepared with the right questions.

I’m new to T’s. Have seen pictures of modern distributors being used on model T engines instead of the original timers. What’s the purpose of purpose doing so and is the magneto sill available to use. I know these are really dumb questions but I will be taking delivery of a 26 coupe this summer that has the distributor set up. This is my 1st T.

I have '26 headlights. Switching from Bright to Dim makes no difference in light output or beam focus. Bob Bergstadt almost correctly reproduced the water inlet and outlet bolts. For some reason he always has them threaded up further than the originals. I don't understand why.

I was driving my old Corolla on Stanley Street in New Britain, Connecticut today--Sunday afternoon--and saw a Model T. It was a black T, not brass & not Improved Ford, with two brass rings on the headlights & natural wood spokes on the wheel. Body style was regular touring but the top was down.

Initially I purchased just the ECCT without the software. When I purchased the software, it made adjusting the coils easier and more precise. Later I got the Mag software. I would recommend purchasing all software. I have 2 I timers. They are fantastic and very cost effective.

After reinstalling my 4th main I realized I need to put a helicoil in the pan. The bottom left bolt is loose. Of course the radius rods are in the way of a drill. Any way I can do the drilling without having to remove the rear axle?

What are those items protruding from the front of the car ? Right front fender has a fatigue split. Lot of rough road there.

No more than $400.00. Radiator shell may be good enough to clean up and use along with the cowl, maybe. The engine may not be cracked. T’s have been built up with parts like these and turned out pretty good but as the old saying goes “one mans trash is another mans treasure”.

I just noticed there is a missing bolt on the top of my rebuilt 1927 timing cover. It is a large diameter, fine thread bolt. It was installed before rebuild but now can't find it and need to order a replacement bolt but do not know that to order. Would appreciate guidance from those in the know.

Trying to take my ‘25 fan hub apart. It’s the old style,I believe, with a grease fitting. Is the fan bracket threaded onto the fan shaft ?

I had a very similar issue with my 21 Touring a few years ago with firewall to body fit up. I built up the Touring body on the main body sills on the frame that the body brackets were attached to. Luckily I had only attached the two front body brackets to the sills and the rest were held into place by clamps.

That is definitely a cool muffler! I've not seen one like that! I hope there is an OCF to go to this year!!

Currently, my high speed is out... Only low. Long story, but looks like I have another engine pull in my future to sort out the clutch. :-( So, so far... It hasn't been my daily driver this year!!

Hi, I am fitting the firewall and hood former. Where should the 'legs' of the hood former align with the frame? I can widen the hood former legs or compress the legs some. What is the correct position? Also how high off the frame should the hood former be to accommodate the engine mounts sliding underneath?

RV, that's a lot of ifs ! :D I'd like to add another. If any one of your list of ifs is off, it will throw the fit off too.

The only way I could get the hood to fit on my 1915 was to shift the hole in the metal former. It went both sideways and up before the back edge of the hood would line up. I had to fill the original hole with a solid plug...

Has anyone shortened the shift lever on a Layne Warford. If so what length is good,can it be done with out removing the shift assembly? This will make climbing in & out a bit easier.

On my 27 touring I reversed the shifter in the housing. Just remove the shifter, turn it 180 degrees and re-install. It will fit either way. That makes it sit close to the seat. Then I shortened it so the top of the shift knob is at the top of seat cushion or slightly above it. Leave it just tall enough so you can use the palm of your hand to bump...

Your point about setting the hair spring 'zero' load to be very light, was the key to problem. I found the performance of the speedo is extremely sensitive...

Clamps! I nearly ran out.

As discussed previously I went with Titebond III but may have to go back with epoxy for 2 larger than expected joint gaps or maybe just build it up with Titebond III.

Does anyone know the part number or year variant of this holder . Vertical bar in center has a hand hold area formed in it, when it's vertical the wheel is locked in at the bottom, if you push it forward the lower tab pivots to release the rim, it has a padlock ring at upper end and lug relief areas. Took it off my touring car for clean up.

These pieces, referred to as Frame Cowl Assembly....are they just screwed to the inside surface of the sills or are they notched? The parts book isn't clear on this, and my sills are replacements anyway so there's no mounting holes to reference.

Embarking upon a rear axle assembly rebuild and this pinion gear is on here tight enough to give the cheapo harbor freight puller fits. Not wanting to ruin anything and being ready to man up for the right tool for the job, what gear puller would you recommend for this particular application? Take off the nut, turn it around, and put it back on just far enough to be even with the end of the shaft. There should be a little space between the nut and the gear. Then do this:

Got some questions before I start to become a carpenter and metal smith. I baught a hood shelf bolt kit and it came with one extra bolt (I'm thinking) because there is not nut for it

When using a 39-13 (3 to 1 gear set) and changing just the pinion gear to a 12 tooth gear (to get a 3.25 to 1 ratio), What are the chances of the same shims providing the correct adjustment without adding or subtracting shims? Terry, mine was the same application. I hanged the 3:1 gearset in the Ruckstell I took out of my speedster. It may well have worked in my roadster too, but I was not at all enamoured with the compromised brakes that came with the package.

I am installing a turn signal switch assembly and I have the lever adapter. The inside curvature of the adapter doesn't conform to my steering column. It's off by a lot and there is a gap between the adapter and the column. I was thinking of planing or grinding it to fit but there must be a more elegant way to make it fit. I don't want to just...

Hello group! I am new to the Model T hobby ( 5 months and on my second T!) and just purchased the start of a speedster. The engine is a 1925 and has a one piece intake and exhaust called a Vaporator. Does anyone have any information as to who made this and what if any performance upgrade it would provide over a regular two piece unit?

Just got the T out for the season,( in storage since October of 2020 ) This year I ended up changing the sediment bulb on the gas tank, changed the oil, charged the battery cleaned her and dusted her off. Car started right up. However when driving down the road she seems to run very sluggish, not a lot of power almost as if something is holding...

I have never had to try this. A friend just had a magnet come off and lock up the engine, fortunately the engine was just above an idle. Question is can you get the magnets out with the hogs head off with a four dip pan? (He's not realy set up to pull the engine) He has a distributer to put on it.
