Yes, they really work.
Years ago, you couldn't give them away.
Today, there is some demand.
In my opinion, $200 would be a reasonable price for a matched set of four of the style shown in your photo.

I was reading some news today and came across a new AI search engine called perplexity.ai that is said to probably take over

This car belonged to the grandfather of a friend of mine and he would like to know if it is a Model T. I don’t know enough to answer that question but I figured you guys would.
He would also like to know what all of the levers are on the side of the car above the running board.
Thanks for your help!

It's not a Model T, but it looks a bit like the 1909 Humber 8HP which was used in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , although the Humber used in the movie did not have a windscreen.

since I started this, I figured I would show the progress. A short trip to the bead blasting cabinet and a quick shot of etching primer left me to find the appropriate color.

‘26 pickup box width

I’m “piecing together” a 1926 roadster pickup from parts. I’m planning on building a wood box. From what I can assume (we all know what happens when we assume) the exterior of the box (or distance between the inner fenders) should be in the vicinity of 43”. Anybody know the exact measurement?
Last post
I measured it right at the rear of the roadster body subframe. I think the bed side is straight, just the mount flares out inside the fender. The fender mounts to that flare on the bed side and it is parallel to the subframe. I will take another look at it.

This what I came up with. I'm sure some won't like it. Part of installing the trans requires cutting out 7 of the running board bracket. It ties together the running board brackets and supports the...

I have a KC Warford in my 1917 shooting brake. I made my support to align with the back of the transmission so the weight of the transmission and the torque tube were better supported. In my experience, use any measurements as a guide only. For instance, they will tell you if the front fender iron is bent back or forth. When you straighten it, the hole measurement should fall into line. If the inner skirt does not line up with the frame rail, the bracket may have to be lifted/dropped.Other holes can then be custom drilled to...

I have looked at the 'Encyclopedia' and at both of the late Bruce McCalley's books, but find conflicting information. #1 Should the windshield frame on 26-27 ENCLOSED cars, be painted the same as body color, or were all windshield frames, black? #2 I have seen nothing in print, to indicate the the entire 'belt line' around a coupe or tudor body...

Ford literature for 1927 (Available on Cimorelli.com) states that the coupe and all closed cars for that year were offered 'in three pleasing colors, Grey, Maroon, and Green'. That inverted '27 coupe shown above was gray. And as Norman states, the exact color match will be a challenge. jb

I recently got done refinishing my wheels on my 22 touring. For the most part, I enjoyed the process. It presented a few challenges, but I learned some things to do, and not do when I do it again.

Accessory, as noted.
Many types were made, as Ford didn't put a steering column support on the steel firewall Ts until about March 1923.

So Ts with metal dashes prior were lacking such clamps or supports.

Just today we made a tool to replace the camshaft without removing the head and valves, while not using the original tappets with the hole provided for the job per the Ford manual. All things are possible. Ford manual describes a process to change the crankshaft gear without pulling the engine.

In the Marines, for a few extra dollars, we could buy anodized brass buckles, brass tie clasp and brass uniform buttons. Like Baldwin door knobs, the brightwork was very brightly polished and never needed to be polished. I wonder how difficult and expensive it would be to get Model T brass work anodized and who does it.

Any engine builders out there have a suggestion as how to mill a woodruff key slot key slot into a crankshaft to install the crankshaft gear?
My project involves installing a Chevy crank into a T block, so the front of the crankshaft have been modified, part of the modification involves cutting a new key slot to accept the crank gear.
I have a...

1927 T kills when any pedal is pushed

I have a an issue I can't figure out. I have the rear end removed. When idling, the drive runs, but if I push forward or reverse pedal, it will kill before engaging the planetary gears. The bands will smoke until it kills if I slow the pedal motion down. Nothing is engaging the way it should. I inherited this car and it hasn't been driven since...

Not sure which I'm more impressed by... your diagnosis or the damage! :o
Excellent call!
Thanks Jerry! The diagnosis is the product of nearly 25 years of experience with several engine and/or transmission rebuilds per year. It’s not in any of the books but I’ve...

Occasionally we see an online lament about Young folks just aren't interested anymore . The following question appeared this morning in one of the FB Model T groups: How should a Model T be driven? Driving a long way seems weird. Is it OK to drive on dirt roads?
In four hours this young man got 68 replies. I didn't see one negative comment....

I am trying to help a friend determine a fair price for a pretty nice brass original E&J carbide generator she is thinking about selling. Does anybody have a good idea on the value or contact information for someone who could be helpful? I have more pictures I can provide, but for some reason I can't attach them to this message.

The dent, cracks, missing basket, and gasket issue will lower its price, though it still seems like a nice piece overall. For valuation, I recommend reaching out to specialized antique lighting dealers or online auction platforms like eBay. A quick search of similar items can give a good starting point.

Getting close to time for the Duncan swap meet. (March 19, 20, 21) It's looking like the move from Chickasha is being accepted as the pre war replacement. But we need to make it as successful as possible this year. So I challenge everyone on the fence to throw a bunch of stuff in the back of a truck, rent 1 or more spaces and show up as a vendor....

Started loading more boxes of goodies. The main thing I'm looking for is teens, 1920s, 1930s, camping items. That can be anything related to Auto Touring or Motor Camping. Even books, literature, photos, post cards, Tin Can Tourist stuff. I'm currently looking for a 1920s Coleman lantern. A nice folding wood table would also be nice on our camp...

I saw that too on Facebook marketplace here in Texas and thought they were good deals. A bargaining point would be no titles and only the bill of sale. I have a new low speed drum and a nice gear.
Installing new triple gears with needle bearings.
It seems a shame to use a worn driven gear.

Following up on my earlier unboxing video, I decided to replace the plastic reproduction coils with period-correct wooden replicas, allowing me to keep the plastic ones as spares - just in case!! While I had the hood open, I also replaced the timer cover and roller, as I'd neglected to lubricate the old one, and wore it out in record time! I have...

Every time the commutator is replaced, with new no matter of manufacture, initial timing has to be checked.... And either the timing rod has to be lengthened or shortened. Did you reset the initial timing?

I was lucky today a snagged a TT-5893 wrench at a swap meet. The description that the seller had on the tag read as follows: “Ford TT-5873 only made 1925-1927 for TT truck, spark plug, head bolt, and rim wrench”
It got me thinking… what are the correct tools that were supplied with the ton trucks from factory (ford part numbers would be helpful)...

Now that you have the TT jack, the handle is a tough item to find. The TT tire irons are a bit easier to find at swap meets.
This older post ( link below) shows the TT tire iron and a jack and handle. Scroll down the thread and you will find the detailed measurements of the jack handle to make a replica.
The late Jack Daron made one from...

I got a really nice original Boyce Motometer water temp gauge to go in the dash on my speedster project. Good lord, no I didn’t know that! It never dawned on me that it would be anything but a water passage. A good idea wasted. No worries, I will come up with something else. Maybe make a custom top tube with a fitting for the sensor.

I'm looking though the Model T Ford parts Identification guide volume 1, trying to figure out what year car this coil box fits.
It looks like the11-12 Hinze coil box, but the latches for the top are different than what the book shows. Is this a coil box for
Model T's or some other make of car?
Thanks

The way I check clearances for the head is set it on the block Without a gasket and use a bolt at each end for alignment. Then crank the engine slowly for at least two turns. If no contact GREAT!!
Another traditional variation is chew some gum and put some on the piston and or valves in any areas of concern and repeat the process. Inspect the gum...
