Rebuilding my '26 coupe and found the usual gasket between the 4th main and the hogshead/engine pan end. It also had a gasket between the ballcap flange (p/n 2576) and the 4th main mating surface. I believe the only gasket should be the one to seal the 4th main to the transmission end, is this correct?
Mac's wonderful illustrations show a gasket...

Thanks, all: The Lang's illustration looks like the incorrect one in my old Mac's catalog.
And don't you just love those old forum posts where the entire thread fits on one screen. I have had little luck searching those old posts which usually hold the answers.

Since you could grab the flywheel and spin it before the hogshead installation, did you move the triangle in the intervening time or did something drag it aft?

I think it's a put-together loosely based on a 12 runabout configuration. If that work was done on the front end, and other parts (square felloe wheels, squared leaf spring, earlier fenders, etc.) it makes me wonder what else has been done underneath. The chassis could be much later.

Hi, I just unloaded my new Model T cattle trailer to be used behind my 1921 unrestored ( Art Moran) touring car. Barn fresh with the chicken crap still on it. The racks are easily removable. early T wheels. It will be a lot of fun this summer. I am going to wash it gently tomorrow and linseed oil it. Bob.

I have a set of 100 negatives taken from an unknown tour of western US. Negatives number 59 and 60 are of a wrtecked 1911 Model T Ford. I beleive the tour took place in 1912. The radiator does not have the Ford name and the filler neck looks different. I beleive it is a heavy duty radiator.

You can generally spot the electrified headlamps by the full reflectors near the front of the lamp door and lens. Acetylene gas lamps burn rather hot, and the Mangin mirrors or other reflectors need to be some distance back so that they do not burn, break, or smoke up. Electric lamp bulbs run considerably cooler and allow fuller reflectors up near...

I’ve been looking for a period traffic light prism for a long time. They rarely show up on eBay and often for more $$ lthan I’m willing to pay. I hit an infield double the other day at a local antique mall. Both from 1926, both from Cleveland and I have a great use for both. The seller put his price tag on the moonbeam box and the young clerk took...

Thanks Jim, good advice. I’ve got a later Fulton brand in another car, and it works fine with just being held against the glass with a spring. I may see if I can do that first. If you ever check out eBay, the cheap Fulton prisms sell for $15. The real deal usually sells into the hundreds. The reason for that is the plastic ones don’t work.

Howdy,
I haven’t messed with T’s in a while. I still have a 1915 touring sitting in the corner of my garage waiting on me to start restoring it. One of its issues is the frame has the running board brackets and fender irons bolted on. It’s a bit beyond my capabilities to rivet them back on. So, my question is, what’s the going rate for a decent...
Last post
Yes, the fender irons are bolted on. 3/8 bolts, 24 threads per inch if I recall correctly. Originally, they had castle nuts and cotter pins on the outside and underneath. If you aren't going for trophies or an OCD purist, standard nuts and lock washers work fine. Bolts should be grade 5 or equivalent (good original bolts are fine!).

The exhaust pipe needs 'adjusting'. Fitting spacers/shims/alternative mountings are all masking the real problem, one which is not uncommon with reproduction exhaust pipes. I would take the pipe off and make the 'adjustment'. All you need is a fork in a tree so you can slightly increase the bend.
The bigger the tree the better, as that will reduce...

Does anyone have a copy of the aforementioned Model T Times?
I am not sure if it is the US or Canadian issue... was there an issue for Great Britain too?
I am looking for a photo that I recently saw mention of (and an article if an article was included) that I believe shows the December 1927 Launch of the Model A Ford at Holland Park....

Thank you John, appreciate your time and input.
I think it may be the English Ford Times as it seems there maybe a United States, Canadian and English version?
I just need the article and photo (scanned/emailed etc,) if anyone does have this copy?

Wood firewall fitting for Speedster.

Lang's has 5 different types of wood firewalls. Hay wagon to speedster project is a 1925-26 frame with a 1915-16 themed upper style. But I would like it to have a starter for convenience and fiance's hair demands a full square window. So which one? This one maybe? 'Firewall, one piece, for cars with starter, birch plywood' 3634H

If you have a 1915-16 style hood former, any firewall to suit that will do. As far as I know, the only difference in a starter type firewall is the second slot for the in cabin choke pull.
A full width windscreen can be mounted on woodwork mounted behind the firewall. It can be any shape you want it to suit whatever size screen you decide upon....

Starter and Generator Field Coil sizes
by
OilyBill » Mon Mar 08, 2021 3:35 pm
I have just taken apart my 1927 T Couple starter and generator.
I had bought replacement field coils for both of them.
Once I got them apart, I noticed the new field coils are much smaller than the originals.
Do they work as well? Do they burn out faster? Any difference in performance?
Anyone have any input on these new replacement field coils,...

Like Mark had said, the one is a distributor wrench and the other 2 are bearing or bushing pullers (I can't remember which) for the transmission I believe, later V-8 tools. I have no idea what the last one is.

Allan, Both the pictures aren't clear enough for me to figure out what the thing/logo/initials whatever are, but I do not recognize it. More about the fuel delivery than the line itself. I understand my 8N tractor, with gravity feed, and the fuel tank above the carb. However, at least on my T, if I run a line from the tank to the carb, the angle is downward, or at least level, which is a good thing. Going from the tank to the engine mount wood block opening for the line is still a...

Hello Tourabout -
Yes, the windshield position locking system looks very much like the maybe a Troy windshield that I think I have. I also notice that the way the glass channel between the windshield halve connects to the sides of the frame is very similar. On my windshield there are two screws that hold the channel-piano hinge piece to each...

Mike, if you look down the throat you will see a nut around a slotted bolt end. That is where the adjustments are made to the sound. I made a tool by welding the appropriate sized socket wrench to a piece of steel tube and use a screwdriver shaft with a T welded to it to screw the thread. If you get a sound from it, this will allow you to alter...

But in the hopes it’s not is anyone going to chickasha with a 26-27 Tudor front and rear fenders,25-30 Ford tailgate, or shorten drive shaft, tube and rods for a cast iron warford.

I ordered and received a new key switch assembly. When I tried to move the amp meter to the new switch assembly the new assembly didn't have new screws supplied. I assume that the supplier got the assembly from a common supplier and this was the way they all came. I thought this wouldn't cause a problem so I attempted to use the old switch...

Those new screws are Metric, very common in China, just go get some more!
One more problem, the screws are a little smaller on the head and often go through the terminal eye without a small flat washer that is difficult to find.

Hello fellow Model T-ers.
Although installed by Romero last year, my Classtique top seems loose. Can I simply punch new (tighter) holes in the front and back straps to make it tighter? Or, will this common sense approach have unintended consequences?
Thank you in advance for any help with this.

Another thought (From actual experience)... If the top looked great when it was installed and now looks loose, it could be due to body wood problems.

I have a 5 ball carburetor that is larger than the T Model Carb. I have included a picture of it beside a T Model 5 ball so you can see the difference in size. Do these carburetors go to a tractor or something?

I also have a 5 Ball that has a threaded inlet in place of the Flange used in the Model T’s
