I really like the two toned paint schemes that Model T’s were painted in the 1920’s in Australia and New Zealand and, when the time comes, I would like to paint my ‘26 Fordor a two color color scheme as was popular “down under”.

I started working on a Model T when I was a Junior in high school. It was a stuck motor, frame and 2 axles.By the time I got married it had evolved into a roadster pickup, not a thing of beauty , assembled from parts, assembly over time, similar to our lives. It got left behind when we moved to the west coast and has not been started in 50 years....

In going through labeled bolts/nuts from the disassembly of my 1924 Touring, I cannot seem to recall where this part came from. It was in a bag of bolts marked Cowl/Dash. The piece is steel and measures 1 1/2 by 1/2 by 1/4 thick and is threaded to accept the threads on the screw shown. Can someone identify this for me? Thanks

Does any of you change the oil in the rearend on a regular basis? Like yearly? Every 5000 miles? Or not?

I would say if one disassemble the rearend for any reason, one pour new 600W (or SAE 250 gear oil) in the rearend, and then you check the level at season start for example, but isn't that it?

And yeah, I ran into a discussion about this.

What is supposed to hold the crank pulley pin in place? I see large hole/small hole in the pulley, and cotter pin hole in pin. Is the pin supposed to fit tightly through the crankshaft to hold it in place, or does the pin enter the small hole tightly holding it in place? I don't see any taper on the pin. I have read several articles on the pulley...

Last week I get a package with 6 Heinze 1907 Model R coils to make them buzz again as they should.

Found the points at Langs and will use the brown capacitor they are selling.
In two of these coils the hight tension coil is shot, I will replace it with good parts out of some ford coils with bad wood.

Lettered pedals still appeared on 1915 cars being a carry over from earlier cars, this assembly is late 1914-1915 where mid way through the that year the pedals started to change from the lettered pedals to the ribbed versions seen until 1926-7. But most of the 15's had lettered pedals until late in 1915 when the ribbed pedals became standard....

I ran across this interesting article on a restoration/conversion of the old Ford factory in Parnell, Auckland (NZ).

It contains some original data on the factory when it was producing Model T's, and shows how the factory has been converted into modern apartment blocks.

Anyone building cranks? If so what are you using for the sleeve? The only thing I’ve come up with cutting down some non-galvanized tubing, any ideas? The crank is 3/4 cold roll. Bob at 9othree 824 194nine.

My '14 Touring has a later engine with generator & starter. There is no serial that I can make out. My eyes are no longer as sharp as they used to be so often I will shoot some pictures & look over things on the big screen of the confuser.

Started my T this morning and it ran rough, with a lot of popping and stalling. After a few minutes of running, the exhaust pipe turned red hot, so I killed it pretty quickly. Radiator shell turned out pretty nice. Cowl lacing looks self explanatory except for the 2 at the bottom. Bottom looks easy as the back is easy to get to so the rivet can be split. The next one up seems like a rigid nail. What is the fix for that one?

I just got a dash shield and guide for a two piece dash 11-12. Unfortunately the dash shield did not come with the mounting hardware (screws).
I do know that the screws are to be #6 Slotted Round head but what is the length? Thanks

Well if the valves, lifters and cam were not rusted in, I might think about pinning it it the crack does not go into the port. The only stamping on the area above the water inlet is Ford and USA.

I have a victor accessory stop light that I thought would fit over a stock T tail light but the tail light on my '22 Centerdoor is too big. The inside diameter of the stop light accessory is 2-3/4 . Is there a smaller T tail light that would fit?

Three cars out for a 30 mile urban loop with warm-ups at each end. Weather started out a balmy -23°C (-9°F) and warmed all the way up to -21. No mechanical mishaps, young Jay got his first taste of winter T driving and nobody froze their butts off (fingers and toes, yeah a little...) A pretty fun day, all things considered.
