I finally got my generator on my 27 Roadster with 6v voltage regulator. I used a test light on the output side of the generator and it’s working except my amp meter isn’t showing charge. It does show discharge when I turn on the lights. I had a cutout with diode that i tried also and the amp meter still shows no charge. The amp meter is new and...

That would mean you have an open wire, or terminal connection between the generator to ammeter to battery.
The open is often on that firewall terminal block or a longer screw going to ground there.
The wire on your generator cutout should measure the battery voltage all the time.
The ignition switch has nothing to do with that circuit....

I know that car and rode in it a few times over the years. It belonged to Paul Dudek of Edina, MN.
It's a 1914 Ford touring with Minnesota Pioneer plate 653 that was originally registered to Bob Nelson of Minneapolis.
Bob sold the car to Paul Dudek in 1966 or 1967. Therefore, in 1971 when the photo was taken, Paul was the owner.

Do a search of mtfca; warford brace (or support)
In your case you would want a spring loaded support not solid like the cast iron type to allow the frame to flex. With the aluminum cased type, the brace really is not needed but I think is a good idea.

I currently tow with a bigger set-up but I am looking for a car for my daughter and she likes the Jeep Grand Cherokee. She has a 1915 roadster and would have a 20' enclosed trailer. We would buy used around 2018-2020 and the Hemi version is tempting but maybe a little overkill. Does anyone have any experience with a similar set-up?

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee (Sumit) with a V-8 Hemi. I've pulled my Fordor on a flatbed trailer all over the U>S. with absolutely no problems. It likes gas at 8 MPG. Most of the time I drove the speed limit, up to 70 MPH.

Without the engine running, no real harm.
With the engine running at a good idle, only harm is what will occur to anything in front of the Ford. :)

Hello Everyone,
I am 39 years old and starting the slow process of looking for a Model T.
I currently have a great 1931 Model A Town sedan that I almost daily drive to work.
She is completely stock and I love it. I have been hitting 5,000 miles a year for the past 4 years.
I have narrowed my search of a T to a 1923 Touring with electric...

Someone sent me a April 19, 1917 Ford Truck Ready Soon news item.
I would really like to read the whole article and don't remember who sent it to me or where it was found.
Please help, as I am buying the truck that looks just like the one in the photograph.

They were sold as 1918 models, but some states registered then as 1917.

Spraying on a diluted mixture of Clorox and water and letting sit will kill the mold and mildew. Clorox also has a bleach based spray on cleaner that will work well (see photo). After the mold and mildew lightens up from dark green to yellow, it is dead. It might even disappear altogether. Once it is dead, wipe clean with a damp (wet, but not...

I think it's a put-together loosely based on a 12 runabout configuration. If that work was done on the front end, and other parts (square felloe wheels, squared leaf spring, earlier fenders, etc.) it makes me wonder what else has been done underneath. The chassis could be much later.

That's what I was thinking but the center photo looked different no rivets/holes on the cross member end. The far left photo looks very similar except for the holes on the top of the extender. Can't compare the length but looks almost equal to be cut

You can generally spot the electrified headlamps by the full reflectors near the front of the lamp door and lens. Acetylene gas lamps burn rather hot, and the Mangin mirrors or other reflectors need to be some distance back so that they do not burn, break, or smoke up. Electric lamp bulbs run considerably cooler and allow fuller reflectors up near...

Thanks Jim, good advice. I’ve got a later Fulton brand in another car, and it works fine with just being held against the glass with a spring. I may see if I can do that first. If you ever check out eBay, the cheap Fulton prisms sell for $15. The real deal usually sells into the hundreds. The reason for that is the plastic ones don’t work.

One of its issues is the frame has the running board brackets and fender irons bolted on. It’s a bit beyond my capabilities to rivet them back on. So, my question is, what’s the going rate for a decent...
Last post
Yes, the fender irons are bolted on. 3/8 bolts, 24 threads per inch if I recall correctly. Originally, they had castle nuts and cotter pins on the outside and underneath. If you aren't going for trophies or an OCD purist, standard nuts and lock washers work fine. Bolts should be grade 5 or equivalent (good original bolts are fine!).

The exhaust pipe needs 'adjusting'. Fitting spacers/shims/alternative mountings are all masking the real problem, one which is not uncommon with reproduction exhaust pipes. I would take the pipe off and make the 'adjustment'. All you need is a fork in a tree so you can slightly increase the bend.

Help please! January Ford Times 1928 - do you have a copy?

Hi all,
Does anyone have a copy of the aforementioned Model T Times?
I am not sure if it is the US or Canadian issue... was there an issue for Great Britain too?
I am looking for a photo that I recently saw mention of (and an article if an article was included) that I believe shows the December 1927 Launch of the Model A Ford at Holland Park....
Last post
Thank you John, appreciate your time and input.
I think it may be the English Ford Times as it seems there maybe a United States, Canadian and English version?
I just need the article and photo (scanned/emailed etc,) if anyone does have this copy?
Thanks again

This pair of covers is on ebay. Can anyone ID their application? The owner will not respond to questions.

AH YES! I see how they will work to help heat the intake manifold. The seller led me astray by calling them valve covers and selling them in pairs when only one is used per car!
Thanks for clearing that up.

I purchased a new felloe to build up a wheel to replace one of my rear wheels that has a bit too much wiggle. I got a nice 30 x 3.5 inch Firestone felloe from a friend in California and after priming and painting I sent it out to be re-spoked. Yesterday I was staining the spokes when I noticed what turned out to be a hairline crack in the edge of...

Since your engine is a new build the cam isn’t an issue as you said. Find yourself a better front cover and you’ve solved the problem. They are fairly plentiful. Good luck.

Wouldn't be too dismal......even with full size plans, there is finding quality kiln dried ash to make the sills, and all the other parts. Plus the compound curves to do the pieces.
With a 'wood kit' you can be on your way. Sure it may be pricey, but all the hard work and quality hardwood is at your side.

When we got married in 1958, we used an old Kodak camera with a bellows on it. You adjusted the distance setting by how far out the lens was from the film. The negatives were the size of a post card, so did not need to be enlarged. We also had another newer camera with a flash bulb. We set the two cameras side inside the room and the Kodak was set...

This really is a 100 year old story (today), but we need to start at the beginning.
During the summer of 1906, Ford Motor Company sent a batch of Ford six (Model K) motors across the river to Ford of Canada. The ledger below from Ford Canada tells us the now completed Model K number #211 (bottom of photo) is shipped to New Zealand during October...

Many people think that the iconic Ford script is Henry Ford’s creation and his handwriting. Not so. In around 1907, Henry was looking for a logo for his fledgling company, when the company’s first Chief engineer/designer and friend, Childe Harold Wills, who also printed business cards used the calligraphy from his own cards to stylize the Ford...

Lang's has 5 different types of wood firewalls. Hay wagon to speedster project is a 1925-26 frame with a 1915-16 themed upper style. But I would like it to have a starter for convenience and fiance's hair demands a full square window. So which one? This one maybe? 'Firewall, one piece, for cars with starter, birch plywood' 3634H
Last post
If you have a 1915-16 style hood former, any firewall to suit that will do. As far as I know, the only difference in a starter type firewall is the second slot for the in cabin choke pull.
A full width windscreen can be mounted on woodwork mounted behind the firewall. It can be any shape you want it to suit whatever size screen you decide upon....
