New transmission driven gear ?

Is anybody making new driven gears?
I have a new low speed drum and a nice gear.
Installing new triple gears with needle bearings.
It seems a shame to use a worn driven gear.

VIDEO: Coil & Timer Replacement in Real Time

Following up on my earlier unboxing video, I decided to replace the plastic reproduction coils with period-correct wooden replicas, allowing me to keep the plastic ones as spares - just in case!! While I had the hood open, I also replaced the timer cover and roller, as I'd neglected to lubricate the old one, and wore it out in record time! I have...
Last post
Every time the commutator is replaced, with new no matter of manufacture, initial timing has to be checked.... And either the timing rod has to be lengthened or shortened. Did you reset the initial timing?

TT tool kit

I was lucky today a snagged a TT-5893 wrench at a swap meet. The description that the seller had on the tag read as follows: “Ford TT-5873 only made 1925-1927 for TT truck, spark plug, head bolt, and rim wrench”
It got me thinking… what are the correct tools that were supplied with the ton trucks from factory (ford part numbers would be helpful)...

Now that you have the TT jack, the handle is a tough item to find. The TT tire irons are a bit easier to find at swap meets.
This older post ( link below) shows the TT tire iron and a jack and handle. Scroll down the thread and you will find the detailed measurements of the jack handle to make a replica.

I got a really nice original Boyce Motometer water temp gauge to go in the dash on my speedster project. Good lord, no I didn’t know that! It never dawned on me that it would be anything but a water passage. A good idea wasted. No worries, I will come up with something else. Maybe make a custom top tube with a fitting for the sensor.

I'm looking though the Model T Ford parts Identification guide volume 1, trying to figure out what year car this coil box fits.

Model T's or some other make of car?
Thanks

The way I check clearances for the head is set it on the block Without a gasket and use a bolt at each end for alignment. Then crank the engine slowly for at least two turns. If no contact GREAT!!

The head appears to have spark plug adapters. They may increase the volume of the combustion chamber and thus reduce compression. If that's the case, removing them and using the original type spark plugs could increase compression and improve performance and driveability. A wide variety of early style plugs are available, and plugs with more reach...

I even pull the parking lever into neutral position while waiting for a signal. It is much safer than holding the pedal in neutral. With the foot it is easy to either slip the band on the drum or wear the disks. Ok at a stop sign when the stop is very short time, but with the modern signals it can be quite a wait.

Data plate number stamping ended in the mid 1910s. Block stamping and data plate stamping during the years when both were done was different due to the need for cast iron blocks to be cut by sharp fonts. Data plates using thinner and softer materials could use a more blunt font.
Over the years of production, several minor variations of fonts were...

The same problem with a none-to-sharp bend can occur in carburetor linkages, especially with the thick brass levers on the throttle plate shaft. I have found brazing a washer to the back side of the bend up against the shaft of the rod keeps the rod straight in the arm and takes out the inside radius of the bend.

I think the car in the first pic with the horse collar must be an early concept car for the Edsel. Apparently, the engineering team didn't want to be recognized.

I think previously 2 people gave me their number, foolish me never saved it. As most people said, and I agree, aide of someone with a few iq points above mine will be beneficial. Is anyone in the general Kissimmee area of central Florida near Saint Cloud? It would be nice if someone could stop by and give it a look over, tell me how much of an...

I'm in Naples which makes it too far to travel for a day trip for me. I'm sure that you can find someone to help. Why don't you send an email to the two T clubs in Florida and see if they have any members near to you?
That is actually a decent idea, I'll reach out to them. Thank you.

Trying to become proficient, (well, I'd settle for just get by ) in changing a clincher tire, I saw mentioned in an archived post a reference to DVD by Fred Houston and Mike Bender. I don't see it available here in Resources, nor do I see it available at Snyder's nor Lang's. Anyone familiar with this DVD and/or know where to get a copy?
Thanks,...

The best (my favorite) is Flivver Channel. He has some excellent videos on how to change a tire and one on how to do it without messing up the paint on the rims. Trash Bags. This guy seems to KNOW what he's talking about.

Yes ! It’s a great deal of fun! Only about 30 miles from me over sparsely traveled bucolic roads. So I’ve driven all my Model Ts there over the years. Might load the TT bed with T parts for this first ever ‘swap meet.’ In the meantime, I’ll see y’all at Duncan. :D

Thinking about trying to make it home this spring (been stuck working in FL) and thinking about the reunion and rally as it may be able to do both. Ideally I would make it home dial in the 29 Buick and 26 Speedster get the trailer set and hit the road camping along the way. Of course we all know how every 2 hour project turns into a week project...

I replaced my sediment Bowl and I reused the old petcock after clearing the blockage on the top of it and the petcock is leaking not from the threads but the actual valve part, the spinning part. how might I be able to fix this? I did though disassemble the petcock valve to clean and uninstall and reinstall it but there was no gasket or anything.

I picked up this @ a swap meet it's about 1/3 full I will never use it all up but don't know anyone that repairs valves other than me.

Help identifying straight ball arm and 1 1/4 inch ball arm caps

Could someone help me identify the arm in the photo below. It is the length of a Pitman arm and has the same keyway notch but the unknown arm is straight whereas a pitman arm is angled at about a 45 degree angle. Anyone know what this straight arm fits?
The ball is 1 round but shows wear, measuring 0.944 and 0.90 in diameter. I guess this is...
Last post
No John, it is not an early one. My suggestion was purely to indicate that the easiest way to fix it is to buy a new one.
There is no filing on the ball I use to rebuild an early pitman arm. All except the last bit is done on a linishing belt on my bench grinder. It is quick and easy. The only filing is done to make the ground section round...

Make checks payable to Foothills Model T Ford Club. It's important that the name appears just like this because of Canadian banking regulations.
Hotel and campsite information can be found here:

No washers, you need maximum thread engagement in our old castings. Even when you have the head re-surfaced it pays to clean out the holes and reuse the original bolts. Just fit the head without a gasket first, to check that you still have clearance.
John make s good cautionary point. An alloy head has flat washers to protect the casting. With Z...

I sure like that 1915 touring car, first photo. It appears to have the common 1915 style oil sidelamps with the ball shaped font/bowls. Earliest 1915 style open cars in January and maybe part of February of 1915 used one of a few of the odd interim oil side and tail lamp styles. By the end of February 1915, Ford and the suppliers had settled into...

New Rims

Steve Jelf » Wed Feb 05, 2025 4:01 pm
First post
Earlier today I came across some online photos of new clincher rims. They looked like a nice copy of Hayes rims. I did manage to find the company's website, which has contact info but not much detailed information. I don't know that I need a new rim, but somebody here might like to be aware of these.
Last post
You can powder coat the rims before rewooding, but I would never do it. When the wheel is built it will be tight on a paint layer, rather than on the steel of the rim. The paint will break down with use and there goes the tight fit of the felloes. You could give them a coat of metal etch primer that is nice and thin.

Spoke tightening might have been a rather inexpensive repair back in the day BUT, considering the speed we drive our Ts now, rebuilt wheels would seem to be the most prudent.

What is the proper name for the metal tips that are crimped onto the 5/8 woven cotton top boot straps? I can't find any, because I don't know what they are called.

In my opinion, using a 1/2 tip on a 5/8 strap would be easier than trying to re-work a 1 tip.
