Similar system to T, but larger carb, and intake something like the late T Vaporizer, since it mounts to the exhaust manifold to preheat fuel vapor for best combustion. Ford-Zenith carb.

I was going to adjust the three clutch screws in the transmission. I jacked up the left rear wheel and placed the tranny in neutral. With the transmission in neutral the rear wheel will not turn. The parking brake is definitely not set. It doesn't make any difference what position the lever is in the wheel won't turn. Should it?

I just filled a 2.5 gallon gas can.
It took 35 minutes.
2.5 gallons * 4 = 10 quarts
10 quarts / .75 = 13.3 (3/4 quarts)

That tool may work ok on babbit bushings but it requires a lot of pressure to cut the brass bushings by hand. I face most of the material off in the lathe and then install the bushing and sneak up on the fit with the tool shown in a drill.

Enjoying a little time in the shop while waiting on material for two jobs at work. The generator on the 27 tudor Im working on was not working. While I was at it, I rebuilt two other generators for myself. I picked up a Tru-cut armature lathe and a growler but needed a test stand. I borrowed some ideas on the forum and got creative....

On my 2021 to-do list, is to make a table/stand for the beautiful 1940's era vintage Craftsman drill press (that my dad passed on to me), out of the spare 1925 T frame that's laying on my back acre. At first glance the frame looks ok, but a closer inspection reveals that it was horribly hacked at some point in its lifetime.

I have to agree, the Cobalt bits that have come on the market in recent years are the cat's pyamas, they stay much sharper for longer than other materials.
Of course you get what you pay for, some really cheap cobalt bits are the same crap as the so called Titanium bits, just cheap a** metal with a fancy color coating...

I'm looking for information on the 1904 race car known as Baby . It appears to be a twin Model A/AC/C engined car, rated at 20 HP.
I've found a few pictures, but nothing wrote up yet.
Anyone have info?

I didn't think about this, but it's true, the stator coils on an early 09 would be 1/2 wide, where the later ones would be 9/16 ... a pre-2500 T would definitely be within that 1/2 coil width era.

The car was ordered on Aug. 2, 1917, appears to have been built about August 13, and delivered Sept. 8.
There is a Heiser Ford in the Milwaukee area today, I assume a successor company?
At any rate, a fun read.

The bottom part of the T is there, but faint.
The engine assembly date is Wednesday, August 29, 1917. The car was shipped ten days later. It was made almost a month after Mister Schlitt ordered it. We would call it a 1918 model.

Several of the founding members of the Edmonton Antique Car Club in 1962 are still with us — founding member Bob England is not only still with us at 96 years young, but also still sharp, still driving, and as of 11:00 this morning, still falling prey to the T affliction.
Bob has owned and/or restored a number of Ts over the years, but I think...

Chris, That is great.
We will have to get him on one of our tours this summer.
He can team up with Roy Gale and his Model T from Medicine Hat. Roy turned 100 this year.

I seem to have a lot of excess thread on the front engine mount. Is something missing?
The spring has 7 leaves.

An 8th leaf and a proper castle nut will take car of at least 3/8 of that extra thread. Then check for the split pin holes. Or, find a correct replacement.

I don't need a mandate. I am keeping a low profile until I get my shots. Being in the geriatric target group I'm taking no chances. That doesn't mean I can't isolate myself in a Model T. :)

One fellow in our gang is running the disc brake package on 2 of his T’s. He loves them. He is not running safety hubs.
I am thinking of changing my direction gathering parts for my speedster. Original plans were large drums with Rocky Mountain brakes. I am thinking now of safety hubs with disc brakes. Is anyone running these 2 together and what...

I have safety hubs and sure stop disc brakes on my 1917 Touring. The combination goes together very well and is recommended by a friend who is a highly reputable classic car restorer to all his Model T customers. He did my install and also installed new axles (which are 1/16th of an inch longer) as both originals had significant scoring. I am very...

Ruckstell Housing Bent???

I am in the process of building a Ruckstell axle for my 1926 pickup. Going by the book I am down to checking the axle housings for being straight. My Ford side (passenger side) looks great, but on the Ruckstell side, the axle is 5/8 out of center at the outside end. I don't see any bend in the Ruckstell housing (P156) tube itself.
Reading an old...
Last post
Use a plane and depth check to see if the housing is bent. If it not, race the outer sections of the housing tube with a straight edge, mark, heat and bend back. Never seen a Ruxstell casting bend that much the radius rods could not take up.

Hank

What Jerry said. Most of the places I've been, E-10 is the least expensive. Some people tell horror stories about bad experiences with it, but I use it in everything I drive (1915, 1923, 1945, 1951, 1973, 2008), and have no trouble* with it. I drive often enough that it doesn't sit for ages. I once tried super-cheap E-85 and got such lousy mileage...

I prefer to use the early term Gow Job, rather than speedster. To me, a Gow is a modified full body car where a speedster tends to have a smaller (or none) homemade body, and sometimes a single seat car.
In another thread, some requested me to post pics. So here goes. Started about three years ago. I am still a long ways away, but its coming...

So I just came home from Snyder’s with a new upper and lower windshield frame. Everyone says take it to a local glass shop for new glass. Are there patterns around to make sure they don’t screw it up? What thickness do we use?
26/27 roadster is the flavor
Thanks in advance

Two pieces of sage advice given. Install the frame first to be sure it fits. Cut a masonite template to fit the frame. That way you know it will fit your application.
With body parts, timber kits etc. all need work to get them to fit. They are not precision engineered articles, so the work must be done to make them fit each application.

i have considered installing the rocky mountain brakes on my 23 wood body truck.
i could purchase them from a vendor, but i also have heard that the old style may be better or different.
is it worth the effort to find an older set or just purchase a new set?
im not familiar with the differences enough to make a decision
thanks,

Joe,
I used the Sure Stop system. The components are of the highest quality and go together well. Unlike mechanical brakes you don't have to periodically adjust them. They also include a reliable brake light switch activated by hydraulic pressure. Under routine driving only a slight pedal pressure is needed to stop. If you stomp the pedal you can...

Parts book shows in 1912 the list of parts for the first 2500, the magneto is not listed, but,
In 1911 with the recommendation of substituting magneto of later design, coil and fly wheel for cars up to 20500.
I did read at some time that the magneto was up graded because those tin ones would flex to much.
