Steve, I also use the key on my 1915 touring upside down. I have a size 14 shoes and would always kick the key off at stoplights and I have crank start only. Since I started using the key upside down I have had no problems. bobt

I have a question to satisfy my own curiosity. Torpedo windscreens look to be set at a greater angle on the lower half than any other models. Does this mean that the detent ridges pressed in the hinges have to be in different positions to allow the screens to be set at the correct angle?

Tim, the RFs are great carbs, I just wish they hadn't used crappy Aluminum to make them. The brass welds to the Al and they can be impossible to get apart....

I found Royce and he is a really swell guy. Because of his expert advice I now have a beautiful period correct brass ended speedometer cable and its housing on its way to my 15 Touring. No more insults from Original Smith, at least surrounding this part of my car.

The six cylinder was a really backward step from the Essex four. The four cylinder cars were sturdy, and speedsters built on them went well and took a real pounding with great reliability.

Over the years I have run across at least two Model Ts with later 12 volt generators complete with a three terminal voltage regulator box. In both cases I replaced them with the Texas T alternator. Indeed I think I have one of the systems available as taken off a T. If anyone is prepared to pay shipping or pick it up, it’s freely available.

I agree with you on the red for the acetylene gas hose.

If you look at the last photo I posted, the gas line hoses appear
much like the radiator hoses which are red.

Certainly not cream, or white, like the tires in that photo.

Drained the oil. Then pulled the filter (There is a bolt on top that drops the filter housing). It was seriously clogged with crud. Cleaned the housing inside and out. Filled the housing with fresh oil, then added fresh oil Non-Detergent to the engine.

I bought a set of repro hoses and OE style clamps from Lang's about six years ago. I have never had a leakage issue with the stock hose setup. The Lang's hoses are red; i just assumed that red was the correct color. They are pretty much the same dimensionally except for being rectangular and using different wood, which you already know. FWIW, the (standard) 1913-17 number 2, 3, & 4 sockets are essentially the same; only the front bow to the windshield changed in '15; it is 23 long vs. 26 on the '13-'14.

“Wearing in” anything like this is essentially going to be displacing or wearing off metal that is an interference fit. Does that “worn away” metal just disappear? NO! I personally would install an accessory wishbone brace instead of using a later wishbone with the earlier perches.
