Is this a TT windshield?

This windshield and brow came with my TT. I'm not sure if it's right but I'll probably make it work when I build the cab. I'm also not sure what the tinted brow goes to.
Thoughts?
Last post
The tinted visor is very cool. Just know that it won't have laminated safety glass in it, and while trailering at highway speeds, there may be a real risk of it shattering. If you use it, you should really consider replacing the glass.

Later this week I hope to locate the wire harness on my 15 runabout restoration project. In the next day or two I should be getting in the mail the following wire harness clamps from Langs:
Which includes two clips to attach the harness to the firewall, and two clips that attach it to the side rail. My understanding is that it doesn't come...

Paul Iverson has a really nice, unrestored 1916 touring.
If you look at the photos he posted a while back, you can see bits and pieces of the wiring. Note that it looks like the loom is tucked under the edge of the hood former.
His car also has the bell wire staples for the headlamp wire.

Man, seems like this question comes up once a week. I repeat myself - J.C. Taylor. It's not how cheap, it's how good. You won't know that until you have a claim. Look at the discussion that's already taken place on this forum (numerous times). Recommend you also look at the AACA discussion forum. Plenty of good info there as well.

Engine number question
Replies: 9
by
Anton Seelmann » Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:07 pm
First post
When I overhauled my engine, I found a second number on the left side (bottom right - see photo): 52318. What does this number mean?
The engine number at the water inlet is C 171352; a Canadian production.
Last post
The Canadian engine blocks used casting dates through to the end of production whereas these dates were discontinued in USA production starting in 1922. For whatever reason, the Canadian blocks revised their casting dates around 1923 using an alphabet letter to designate the year. “A” for 1923, “B” for 1924, “C” for 1925, etc.

Up until a short time ago, pretty sure it was Lang's maybe other too, carried a weld on fake bottom that allowed one to created a 1 piece pan out of later ones. Maybe call Lang's and talk to Steve and see if they might have any left or know where to get one. This would allow you to used the wider square hole cover and have room for starter ring...

I decided to do some research in the latest edition of the guidelines. The radiator cap for 1913 correctly states it is the new low fin stamped design, possibly even late 1912. With the exception of nickel plating in 1917, it remains the same through 1927! I don't believe this to be true! Is it implying that all the stamped brass radiator caps are...

95%. Regular is 90% or less. I was a chemistry major at one time. In case you are wondering alcohol forms a 'low boiling azeotrope' at the end of distillation so the only way you can get 100% alcohol, no H2O, is through chemical extraction means. The hard thing to believe is that I still remember that from 37 years ago.

Very good advise for sure. Those wires and rods for the bell crank and the choke butterfly and the throttle butterfly all need to be carefully tuned to proper length as you posted. Take care to always check when assembling the carb to the manifold.

Could also be that the timer case spring is bent and not putting enough tension on the timer.
I would guess that the vertical disk is the shield that goes behind the timer, it would have no effect on the brushes placement in or out. It remains stationary and the time case rides on it.

Many of you have been following my adventures restoring the 1909 Touring. Well this last week I have been trying to get it started.
Way back in 2017 after the motor was rebuilt I did actually use a later flywheel and hogs head and had the engine running. Not for long but it seemed ok.
Now after all the bodywork and other items are completed,...

Tony,
After messing with the radius rods on the rear end of your car, you should check that the rear wheels are properly aligned.
Fellow club member Less V's 13 touring was wearing out rear tires way too soon. He found the rear wheels had considerable tow-out. He was able to correct it by adjusting the radius rods.

Has anyone noticed that the 1926 - 1927 Wire Wheels have two different size hubcaps?
I started to put one on today and it just about fell through the hole.
The diameter size difference appears to be about 1/4 inch.

I’ve looked at this and looked at it for a few years. I believe this is either the top or side opening into the false tank used on one of the Ford Special racers. This “tank” is used to hide the back cylinder of a racer motor that extends through the firewall. I don’t have a photo of the other side, but am sure #4 cylinder exhaust pipe extends...

Tim, yes, I believe that’s the 228 motor mentioned. I hope someday someone finds more drawings, to better differentiate the racers.
Scott, I had not thought of the the “pipe” idea from the drawing. I believed all along that it’s either the faceplate, as tim point to above (red arrow), or the faceplate for the exhaust pipe on the right side. As...

I'm trying to figure out how it worked, and what ratios it provided.
I guess from the text that it gave a 50% reduction. That would make it similar to some other devices, and would be consistent with using differential-style gearing. It's also consistent with the recommendation to use 'speed' gears - I guess that means a 3:1 CWP.

Powder coating is not the answer. Powder coat is a form of paint. When water gets into the rim/tyre assembly, it will still cause rust as the paint breaks down under constant moisture contact. It may take a little longer, but they will still rust. Galvanising is the best answer, but ask yourself, How come very few original Galvanised rims show up?...

I looked at a TT today and it was in a very tight space, but I was able to turn the crank. Is this a Ruckstell trans part?

It came with my truck, I think it's part of a Ruckstell trans linkage but I'm not sure as fork looks different than the ones in the catalog? Any idea of what it is and what it is worth?
Last post
The TT shifter is held on with 4 bolts, the car shifter is held on with 3.
There are more differences including size but that's the basic way to tell.
Cool thanks, you learn something every day.

Repairing 21" Split Rims That Use A Lock Screw

If anyone has 21 split rims, the late type that use a round headed screw to lock the rim, (not the earlier latch type), that have had the threaded hole for the lock screw enlarged and modified by a previous owner, I have the solution. I was talking to Hank Lee and he mentioned that it wasn't uncommon to find a 21 split rim whose threaded hole for...

I ran into the problem too. Bought some of these things from McMaster Carr but can't remember the part number. I think they we called press nuts or something like that. I ground out the stripped one and welded in the new one.

Yes, there are photos of Model T's but there also is various antique bike and other antique automobiles in the UK.
It is worth looking at, if you have not seen this photo gallery. This is the event in 2019. It was cancelled in 2020 due to the virus.
There are 314 photos to look at.
Here is the link:

Helena Hall Helena Mont. I suppose this was Mom arriving at Carroll College in about 1929. I have seen Grampa's T loaded with camping gear like that in other photos. If that is a banner on the back curtain I can't read it. A journey from somewhere in Wyoming to Helena would have been an adventure.
The T would have been 4 or 5 years old....

In the past year I’ve been collecting vintage information about camping trips with a model T. Sometime this summer I want to go out for a few days in my runabout and get away from it all. I bought an original pickup box for my car to allow me to carry what I need when I venture out with my wife, which would naturally require more than if I...

What are the chances being a “brass snob” goes back much further than the latter-day affliction that infects some of today’s hobbyists ? Did owners back in the day dote on their noble steeds, polishing brass to a blinding glow, while looking down on the slovenly who let it all tarnish to dull brownish-green ? Did the owners of cars two to eight...

The earliest Model T toolkits for 1909-11 contained a hub wrench that Ford purchased from Weston Mott. Does anyone know if this wrench was originally painted, and if so, what color? Most of them I've seen are unpainted but is that original? Someone on this forum once posted a photo of one that was red. Are they supposed to be red? I'm referring to...
Last post
That very early 1909-1910 hub cap wrench was purchased outside and perhaps the mfg. did some finish to it, seems no early records on that detail.
Practice for a tool of this nature, for supply to automotive market would be some finish IMO, and certainly no finish and left to rust.
Best guess would be black finish.
if you go by the later early...

Great rebuild work, you made good from a pretty nasty smash. Nice looking T now.
As for the front end, your photos shows the correct '19 and later spindle arms, for the under axle wishbone set up.
But your spindle connecting rod or tie rod is indeed the '18 and earlier, and will be too long to get any adjustment when using the '19 and...

I would pull the hand brake back and take a look at the little levers on the brake backing plates that the rods attach to. With the brake fully engaged, the little levers should be vertical or maybe a little leaning towards the rear of the car. If they are leaning towards the front of the car, that's an indication that your brake shoes, drum, or...

In the pharmacy we always sprayed the counter tops and the counting trays with 70% alcohol. Do not use the 91% alcohol. The 70% alcohol with penetrate the cell walls of the virus better than the 91%.
If mixing aloe vera with the alcohol, use the 91% so your solution becomes about 70%.
