Does anyone know anything about the swap meet held at McDonald GMC/Cadillac in Saginaw? This year's meet is on January 26th and advertises Car Parts for all Makes and Models. I found it on a Model A events listing. They've been doing it for 38 years and I just wonder if they usually have many T parts?

There's quite a bit of good information on side curtains in the forum history, but I have a few specific questions. In the link below, Larry identifies that the eyelets along the back bow should be round instead of common sense eyelets. In the touring diagram on the door curtain, it seems the top eyelet is actually a separate piece (strip) that...

I don't know if anyone is making the correct side curtains for the 22-25 open cars. The original side curtains I have are almost as good as Jim's but not quite. Making these curtains was one of the most fun projects I've done. I strongly suggest making paper patterns for each of the curtains, so as to get the alignment of each curtain perfect. I...

I did some research and it dates around April 1913 ? Any information would be great-full. Sorry no matter what I do it post up side down.

I have no real idea when this one used, maybe somebody here knows...but I'm thinking that it was used sometime later in 1909, because the first 2500 cars had a different sediment bulb than this one...it I think was longer and more square looking and I think had it's own shutoff valve.

When I go on tours, and other Model T functions, I'm amazed at the different sizes of rear windows restorers have chosen for their curtains. Interesting comment on the MTFCA encyclopedia about 23-25 tops and window spacing. It seems to be about the Tourings but maybe the information could be for a Roadster. Just guessing about that but it does give the rear window sizes but the spacing between them varied. If that’s true I wonder why it was varied and not a standard. Maybe different...

Three questions:
I have a mid June 15 touring car with magneto headlights. The steering column was never made to hold wires or a button for a magneto horn but it has the wooden block under the upholstery to mount a bulb horn.
1. Is a single twist Rubes horn correct for my ca?
2. I have a single twist Rubes horn, no front screen or screen ring....
Last post
I'll jump in. My August 15 car has no electric horn nor the button for it. As it was technically a branch car (parts shipped to a branch and built there, although this one was from the exhibition line at the PPIE) I'm not surprised... then again, Typical Ford SOP was apparently use whats on hand , and this would have been no exception.

Last post
The boss around your old valve stem sat in a keeper in your felloe to prevent the rim from spinning on it. Your new rims don't appear to be TT but should work okay as long as everything fits up as stock. You should weld in a similar boss on the new rims to act in the same manner as the originals.

What are the percentages of underdrive and overdrive with an aluminum case Warford? I'm trying to decide on a 3.63 or 4.00 gear in the rear.
Last post
Thanks, Mark G. I think I'll go with 4.00 to 1. In Warford O.D., it'll still give me a 2.93.

Am thinking about rebuilding the top on my ‘23 runabout. I have these pieces that were used to finish the ends of hidem welt. The top one was near the arm rest. Thinking one in the middle is model A rather than T. The bottom one was on the top trim.

The spears posted above as far as I know were only used by Ford. They can't be made from anything. If someone with a metal stamping business would be willing to make a die to stamp these, I'm sure it would be a big seller for the purists.

Does anyone have a list or chart that shows what lengths of bolts are used between the engine block and hogs head to the crankcase. Also how many are needed. Im getting ready to install my crankcase to the speedster project engine. I know I can figure it out, but a list would make looking for the various bolts so much easier. Also does anyone know...

I have looked for lengths in old parts catalogs, and online using Google. Im pretty good at online searches. But so far no charts or lists pertaining to the pan bolts.
As mentioned above it is just a common sense type of thing. and I have done it before. I was just hoping for a list so I could pre clean some of the bolts needed without cleaning...

First post
Our Foothills Model T Club in Calgary has taken on a winter project to make some license plate toppers.
One approach is to use our Club's logo as a basis.
It is essentially the early Ford The universal Car image with our Club's name on it.
That image is the 1910 to 1918 flying or winged pyramid.
This would be cast in aluminum. The problem is...
Last post
It is a winged pyramid. The imagery was big at the time relating to Egypt, even before Carter found Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922, you know mummy's and such. (OP, well sort of)The wings are the scarab which can survive the harsh desert environment and the pyramid eternal like the Model T. There could also be a Freemason connection as well, but that...

Working on a 1925. Magneto works fine when the engine is cold and puts out 25 volts. After about a half hour of driving it stops working properly and drops down to about eight volts and will only run on battery. Once the engine cools down, voltage is back up. Has anybody experienced this problem? Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Curt
Last post
John, your issue sounds more like it's either in your switch or else a cold solder joint somewhere in the field coil. If it was the rivet/screw issue under discussion here, your mag would work fine when cold and then would fade once it got hot, not work intermittently from the get-go as you describe.

It is missing some parts. There should be a shaft that goes in the hole in the side that connects to a piece with a hole in it that acts as a variable venturi as it turns. The twisted flat piece goes from the throttle arem to the arm on that shaft that makes it all work.
Not a bad little carb if they are all together and working.

I hate to burst your bubble Martin, but California license plates weren't produced by California Correctional Industries until 1948.
Prior to 1948, license plates in California were produced primarily by independent steel stamping plants mostly in Los Angeles. The early porcelain plates were made in Pennsylvania by the Ing-Rich Company.

I probably shouldn't post this here as it is not Model T, but I wanted to share a milestone I passed today. Some may recall that back in January I broke my ankle rather badly in a tractor accident. A few months earlier I'd had knee surgery (same leg) which didn't help. As a result, it has been 16 months since I've been able to climb into my 1946...

Bob Peterson's thread on his newly acquired (and unrestored) 1911 raised an idea in my mind. I've long wondered about the history of my 1912, which is unknown prior to 1960. So an idea arose: can we learn anything by looking at the age of replacement parts on a mostly unmolested car ?
In Bob's case, his car looks pretty much unmolested, and yet...

I will have to look at the Frontenac catalog but it could have been used in conjunction with a flywheel housing and Model A transmission. Looks like was made to use 4 dip pan inspection plate.

I see a few differences between the pan in question and the one in the link Shane posted but all in all, they look to have come from the same place.

I looked at my new Taiwan-made u-joint and the rivets are barely peened over. I'm afraid to use it as-is. The heads on 3 rivets are not seated completely. I can insert a feeler gauge of .011 under some. Is this what is being made these days? I will probably send it back unless I can find a way to set the rivets correctly. I know that tightening...

I mounted it in a vice and used a 3/4 drive ratchet to apply torque to it. I applied enough torque to feel it twist a little, but it springs right back. I do not see any signs of looseness.

These photos were captured off this site, they are others, but as with any photos on the web, as long as you aren't selling the photos as your own, any can be used for reference. Your ad would just state, looking for similar oil can like the one in this photo found on the internet.

Pin striping on early cars and wheels

First post
I was under the impression that on the early cars, say 1908 thru 1913 the body and wheels were pin striped at the factory. From 1914 onwards, any pin striping was done locally at the dealer by local artisans. I can hardly imagine that to speed up production the wheels were dip painted and then manually pin striped. It doesn’t compute
On the one...

As I indicated earlier the lighting in the Craig's museum really affects colors. I'll have to check the pin strip color next time I'm there. The picture was taken with the warm interior lighting and bright sunlight from outside. Knowing Craig, it is was its supposed to be.

Hello all,
I am trying to figure out the screw sizes and pitch on various screws that are missing on my 26 Touring. The screws I'm looking for are door latch, door cardboard panel and sill plates. Nothing I've tried seems to work in any threaded holes. Also, where would one find the clips in the door that holds the cardboard panel screws?

I can only speak for my Canadian 26, the door latch is 10 - 32, striker is 1/4 - 28, sill plate is 7/32 - 24.
The 10 - 32 looks very similar to the 7/32 - 24 the 10 - 32 is only .025 smaller than the 7/32. The taps and dies are still available for the 7/32 - 24 if you are familiar with KBC tools.

I have this Ford / Brown electric tail light. What years were these used. I don’t have the curved clear lens. Was it a flexible celluloid?

That tail light was used from about 1919 until mid 1924, when a new tail light was made that was built into the licence plate bracket. The new tail light continued on until the end of 1927 with a new mount to move it to the fender in 1926.

I know the New Ford (my 1928 Tudor Sedan) was in every paper in the country in Dec. 1, 1927, but I know nothing about early advertising of the old Ford.

When I re-spoked my wheels, I gave my old spokes to Woodcraft. They were very pleased to receive them so they could turn them into pens for troops.
I did not have a lathe at that time so I could not turn any pens myself. Now that I have a lathe, I can make a few myself and I thought others of you might like to do this as well.

On the Nodel T of Facebook site someone has shown a page from a twenties Sears Catalog. Wow those prices were a real shock compared to today. Just for comparison a reverse drum in the twenties Sears catalog is $1.95. The same item in the current Lang’s web site lists 3301 with a new drum and refurbished gear at $269. That’s a 151 times increase....

Darn inflation - if it wasn't for it I'd still be making $1.96/hr
