Leaking oil pan ear

First post
After replacing old valves with modern one piece valves, and reseating, I’ve been able to achieve speeds that I’ve never had before, 45+. Problem has developed with oil leaking from one of the oil pan mounting ear areas. Maybe due to extra vibration from higher speeds. It has gotten progressively worse, it’s now at a steady dribble.
Any fixes...

Don't over think it! Not everyone has access to torches, welders or cash! But me personally, I would not use JB weld to fill in the gap. I've always relied on Mother Necessity . Even if you are not handy, this shouldn't be that difficult. Any way you can, (w/o crimping/denting) bend that lip upward. Secure the pan, get underneath/behind the lip...

There is a 1909 2 lever, #9110, right hand drive, in Albreta Canada, on ebay. Is it real?
The person that listed it doesn't seem to be a T person. I'm not an '09 expert but I'm sure there's one on board. Don't see it mentioned previously.

To Belgium, the best way is Fedex.
No surprises, only the income taxes and local taxes to pay with an invoice after having delivered the parts.
USPS is cheaper at the start but there is a local handling fee of minimum €30.00 each delivery from the USA plus the same taxes as Fedex to pay at the delivery.
UPS is about 10% more expensive as Fedex and...

Somewhere west of Lansing I found about a mile of paved road. Probably the only stretch they paved this year. Also, if you leave Detroit on Hwy 153, it becomes Hwy 14 and you cannot get off. Had to drive about 8 miles at 30mph and everyone else was going 80. Then I had to get off on an exit on the left side. That is how todays story starts.

Tail Light Wiring on 26 Coupe

I'm not exactly sure how the tail light wire goes. I'seen in vendors catalogs a wiring installation kit for the taillight. Not sure what the flat piece with the 3 holes and spring do and also the grommets with pigtails is for. Any help would be appreciated.
Last post
Richard, my apologies for a bum steer in some of my response. our RHD cars have the starter switch on the opposite side, so the cables and looms have to switch sides under the car. Hence the different route for the wire. The insulators and the 3 hole fibre piece are likely the same, but will be in different locations.

Joseph, your memory has served you well. In industry, the tolerances you have stated are standard. I was just searching for an old file for a friend and came across this article. Around 1997 when I was assisting Gus Stangeland in administering the MTFCA forums one of the jobs I undertook was posting stories from members. I jump started submissions by posting a few stories of my own. This ondetailed how I obtained Rusty, my second model T Ford...

Driving to work this morning and going around 30 mph when I heard a faint clic .. and the speedometer registered 0. The chain broke of course but it wasn’t a chain problem ... the speedometer jammed. Couldn’t twist it with my fingers. It’s the second time it’s done this in a year. Am asking Russ about it via email but wondered if anyone else has...

I have a Stewart 160 in my '25. Russ did it too. It has never been a problem. I greased all the links a few months back, and the chain and housing were as clean as they were when I put the car together over 10 years ago. Perhaps you should think about changing brands of speedometers?

I have pulled down engines with odd pistons in them, you have to remember at one time nothing was availible, I have seen plenty of Ford 292 or 312 piston in them that may be what you have. Hope this helps.

Hi all
I have been helping my friend Bob Benner work on his TT truck that he acquired earlier this year. It is a work in progress that he hopes to give a new life and use as a truck around his farm also to give hayrides and take to the occasional parade and such. It has a ruckstell rear end that I believe has the five to one gears in it. It has...

I am stockpiling parts for my early 14 touring (late Oct 1913) while the engine is being rebuilt. Is the current reproduction exhaust manifold correct for an early 14 T? I am trying to keep the car as year correct as is easily possible.
Last post
Thanks for the replys and advice. One thing I forgot to mention (due to a slipping clutch in my brain) is that the rear exhaust port on my block has seen some repair in the past and therefore I will use a new manifold. Don't want to risk any more damage to the block.

I was at my local hardware store a few weeks ago when “George” was running and a guy comes up to me and immediately knows what the car is and even what year it is, As I’m sure you all can relate, that is highly unusual, and so I engage in an informed and lively discussion. Well, after a while he asks if I...

I have a 6V battery backup on an F to aid in easy starting. It will start on mag when warm, but it starts easier on battery. There is a knife switch from a hot shot battery box that allows me to switch from the magneto to battery or open the knife for off. The original setup just had a single wire from the magneto post to the coil box, and the...

I was just thinking perhaps the magneto was back feeding into the negative side of the battery, with half the sine wave cancelling the positive feed of the battery to the coils. It might be worth mentioning that the magneto's ground point and battery's ground point were pretty close together. Also worth mentioning is that the engine running rough...

I think I discovered the problem. I had some errant sparking between the back of the spark ring and the ammeter. So I put a spacer washer behind each of the four insulators and that allowed the spark to choose the ring instead in that area. Also filed out the spark ring mounting holes a little to allow better centering. So now I need to figure out...

Hi Steven,

Do you have the MTFCA book on differential rebuild? Well worth getting that and it covers setting clearances and provides advice what to do. Mine is in the workshop across the year and I can't recall that passage by heart...
Generally the clearances in the TT are not so touchy as in the T....
