From what I see in Gail Rodda's Volume 2, this low head would be 1913-1917. Am I reading it correctly? Is there any way to pin it down closer than that?

I gather this means March 24, with no reference to the year.

I'm rebuilding the Hog's Head for a 1925 T. I purchased Brake & Reverse Pedal Supports, Slow Speed Notch, etc... Use standard T shoes with lining. The cast grips & deals with heat better than pressed steel apparently.

Could it also have been partly that aluminum was the new wonder material as was the motor car and airplane, so the two went hand in hand.

I think the laudelet has a top that opens over the passengers as opposed to the town car that is closed over the passengers. The chauffeur or drivers compartment can be open or closed on either style.

It might be a choke like was used with the lights so at low power or high power from the magneto would give about the same noise or in the case of lights would restrict the output so the bulbs didn't burn out.

I've spent a lot of time tidying up the wires on my 24 Touring and am wondering if there was anything that the factory did to prevent wires from chafing where they go through the firewall in the hole above the junction block. (see photo)
Last post
There can be. A lot of the under dash wire sets made some years back were made for sedans that required the longer loom and are too long for open cars. This is one of those one size fits all but were wrong.

English T Wrench? - King Dick

First post
A question for any English members who can help: Is this an English T tool kit wrench - or an aftermarket item?
It would be uncommon for Ford to allow his brand on an aftermarket item though?
In New Zealand most Ts are Canadian and early ones US, so we usually have US and Canadian tools. I was intrigued by this one I found in a 'junk shop'...
Last post
Earlier British tool kits that I am familiar, MGTC, or Vintage Bentley, contain a King Dick slider of the earlier pattern.
I have a friend who has worked on more T's and A's than anyone else I know. I will now refer to him as King Dick Slider.

The repro 'outer sleeves' for the TT rear axle are pretty good. However they do not come with the grease cup hole or the locating dimple in them.
What do you do?
Well, marking where the grease cup hole should go and drilling it to size is easy enough when you use an old sleeve to locate the hole correctly. You actually need that hole to use the...
Last post
My experience drilling the sleeves for the grease holes was difficult. I burned up over one bit per hole, and they were the hardened bits.
The dimples were easy, just build up a little stick weld, not enough to distort the inside of the sleeve, then file the weld down to a dimple.
Also, I had the sleeves held in a vice to drill and a couple of...

I had one of those Dodge pickups many years ago. One of my sons about 7 years old at the time came in to Dolores and said proudly, Mommy, I put water in the geasy fruk That's what he called it! I decided that there just wasn't enough changes to warrant making a 1918-1922 and a 1923-1927 versions of this drawing, so I opted to stipulate the only thing that seems to separate them by the year that the pinion changed from the 2 pinion differential to the later 4 pinion differential. And since the differences between those two as so slight...

I would like to ask what the general consensus is on clear-coating a brass radiator.

Thank you,

I work in an auto museuum with a set of Ford letter cars so lots of brass.Would not consider clear coating.Even the best product will yellow the brass and it won't last and is a big job to remove.Best plan is what Reuben has done and use covers

I recently got a Holley G carburetor with an unusual (at least to me) Throttle lever setup. It has the Dec 22, 1914 patent date on the top. Holley G Feb 2019 #1.jpg Holley G Feb 2019 #2.jpg Holley G Feb 2019 #3.JPG The extra part is 1 1/4 tall and has a label that says Apex Elec Mfg Co, Made in USA, Chicago . It has a thin slot that can be seen in...

James, effectively that part extends the length of the throttle shaft. It also allows the linkage to be rotated on the shaft for a different orientation. On US made carburetors for model Ts that are fitted to RHD cars, the linkage has to be repositioned. This is usually easily accomplished, as the throttle arm is usually just clamped to the shaft...

Here are some pictures of what I think is an NOS early rear cross member. It was in a lot of parts I got the other day that were gotten from Ford dealers in the 50's. I show a picture of another later member for comparison. Could it be used to make a later frame into an early frame? Dan
Last post
Dan from my understanding the rails on the later frame are shorter due to the way the later crossmember is riveted to the rails. The earlier frame rails are longer. Don’t ask me how I know🙄 I’ve seen some guys cut off the ears on a later frame and cobble up a frame that looked early. Great find though! I have a spare that was found in a metal...

2nd triple gear, the heaviest one, I center punched and drilled two pilot holes. No issue.
Stepped up to a larger bit, and the bit just chatters, and loses it edge, almost immediately. No matter what size or coating on the drill bit. Both holes. I used motor...

The riveted 3 piece gears are more problematical to balance. Not all pieces are perfectly centred before the gears are cut. When the three components are put together there can be quite a variation in their weight. Off centre pieces can be a bonus when balancing the gears, as the off-centre part is the bit removed when machining them. Balancing...
