From what I see in Gail Rodda's Volume 2, this low head would be 1913-1917. Am I reading it correctly? Is there any way to pin it down closer than that?

model t 11-02-13 003.jpg This is the original low head on my Sept 1912 Canadian touring , the casting date is above the ford and split by the head bolt one part on each side.As it sits the cast date is not readable. In the summer when the car is out in the sunlight I will have try and read it maybe strip the paint. Cheers Colin

I think the laudelet has a top that opens over the passengers as opposed to the town car that is closed over the passengers. The chauffeur or drivers compartment can be open or closed on either style.

Yesterday I was checking things out on my TT and I noticed the sockets on the drag long were quite loose. What is the procedure for repairing these? The ball looks consistent round but the socket doesn’t look quite as good.

Sure ... that sounds logical. I live in a city and drive mostly in the city so dirt roads aren’t really an option. But I do wonder if the sheer density of of EZ lube would actially prevent dirt getting inbetween the parts. Just guessing.

I am converting the 1915 headlights to Brass 1913 headlights with the quartz/halogen conversion pieces from Chaffin. (see 1st photo.)

I bought a magneto horn about 40 years ago and it had a transformer with it. I have always used it with the transformer inline, has anyone seen this before ?

I've spent a lot of time tidying up the wires on my 24 Touring and am wondering if there was anything that the factory did to prevent wires from chafing where they go through the firewall in the hole above the junction block. (see photo)

There can be. A lot of the under dash wire sets made some years back were made for sedans that required the longer loom and are too long for open cars. This is one of those one size fits all but were wrong.

One not too far away called Winks, I will get there this year, hopefully. So not totally OT.

Today I was close to this little burger stand called Bob's Hamburger. For $4.75 you get a real hot fresh burger that beats any of the fast food joints. ;)

A question for any English members who can help: Is this an English T tool kit wrench - or an aftermarket item?
It would be uncommon for Ford to allow his brand on an aftermarket item though?

I got the transmission apart today and measured the triple gear pins to see how much out of round they are... I got .0021 difference measured 90 degrees apart. I want to make sure I do this right while it's apart. The bushings in the are likely worn also as I can rock the gears side to side on the vertical axis a lot easily... Unfortunately I...

Went and got my neighbors 2N today, with eminent snowfall coming.
He plowed me out for years and mom. Now he has a little trouble breathing in the cold. And the old Ford is hard to start when it's below 20 degrees. So I park it in my garage and plow everyone out, for the last couple years.

Chris, was that cr for a giant or giant super? I believe the giant super was a little higher in cr. It has a minor crack in the water outlet jacket area. A good media blast, pin and stitch the jacket crack, and it should be good to go.

I had the spark plugs out so I stuck a magnet into a cylinder to see if I would pull up any metal dust. Of course I did and it was more than I expected.
After removing the head this is what I found.

I got a large Harbor Freight (24 inch) adjustable wrench with a 20% off coupon a few years ago.
It is tight but fully open it fits the exhaust nut.
If the nut is rusty I use a flat file to clean it up before using the wrench.

I would love to bring my battery indoors in that that the T sits under a carport. Cold weather becomes an issue. With the current cables, are there extenders I could use, so that I could move the battery to the turtledeck area? I guess I could buy longer cables, but the ones I have now are correct and want to keep it original. Pulling it out the...

Does anybody know of a source for metal stakes for a Ford 1924 stakebody flatbed? Even ones that have the correct general appearance and could be modified to fit would be acceptable. I can manufacture wood replacements but like the look of the OEM metal stakes.

The repro 'outer sleeves' for the TT rear axle are pretty good. However they do not come with the grease cup hole or the locating dimple in them.

My experience drilling the sleeves for the grease holes was difficult. I burned up over one bit per hole, and they were the hardened bits.

The dimples were easy, just build up a little stick weld, not enough to distort the inside of the sleeve, then file the weld down to a dimple.

I am looking for information on installing a RAJO B head on a 1926 T Roadster pickup. it looks like I will need to modify the firewall and possibly the gas tank to get the clearances needed to install the head. Yesterday, I saw Kirby Pray pulling his car along interstate 8 toward San Diego, but he didn't see me. This got me to wondering whether everyone was able to get home safely from Sierra Vista. I know some of the roads were closed for periods of time and there were some icy conditions.

From messages and emails I have received, everyone from the San Diego area got home safely. A couple of guys had medical issues but these were resolved. I got home just ahead of the storm that closed Interstate 8 near Campo.

I decided that there just wasn't enough changes to warrant making a 1918-1922 and a 1923-1927 versions of this drawing, so I opted to stipulate the only thing that seems to separate them by the year that the pinion changed from the 2 pinion differential to the later 4 pinion differential. I have mine off at the moment and would like to know if I should put on some clear lacquer after I shine it up.

I work in an auto museuum with a set of Ford letter cars so lots of brass.Would not consider clear coating.Even the best product will yellow the brass and it won't last and is a big job to remove.Best plan is what Reuben has done and use covers

I've seen all kinds of records For Model Ts but I've never seen any way of determining which plant a specific serial number car came from. Is there any way to track this? I'm talking later cars not early brass ones.

Ran into an issue balancing the triple gears.

1st triple gear drilled out just fine.

2nd triple gear, the heaviest one, I center punched and drilled two pilot holes. No issue.

Stepped up to a larger bit, and the bit just chatters, and loses it edge, almost immediately. No matter what size or coating on the drill bit. Both holes. I used motor...
