I'm installing a rebuilt 1915 engine. I see numerous Model T engine installation tips on our forum, but I'm wondering if there are any pads installed under the two rear engine mounts (leather, cloth, or ?). Last post
The rear engine mount to frame bolts are the primary electrical system ground point. You don't want starter current, or any significant portion of it, passing through the front engine mount, the gas line, or the control linkages. Even if you don't have a starter or a generator, you still need a reliable engine to frame ground for the ignition...

Does Birdhaven still sell the Texas T turn signal kit that the controller/activator unit attached to the spark lever? I saw them in an old Ben Hardeman Texas T catalog, but I don't see them in Birdhaven's online catalog. Last post
Take a look at this for turn signals. Signal Dynamics, part # 01003. This very small unit is 100% solid state, self canceling, and the flasher is internal to the small control unit, that is about the size of a half pack of cigarettes. The only down side it requires 12 volts. If running LED’s, a small battery would last the entire touring season,...

I am fairly sure there should be screws or tacks holding the roof to these irons, can anyone verify what Ford's process was for the 2nd and 3rd bows from the back on the Touring cars? It is a 1916 model.

 Thanks,
 James
 Last post
Ford used a single upholstery tack with a larger head than the all the other tacks. It is better to drill the socket, but often you will find the nail on the tack has been driven through the metal socket. Driving a new tack into an existing socket hole may not work well. The hole in the wooden bow is likely oversize due to previous nails and rust...

REMEMBER THAT A MODEL T DOES NOT HAVE REAL BRAKES! Learn to drive it the way it is and then decide if you want to add disc brakes which some do. Average speed for a stock T is around 30-40 MPH. And that may be too fast for some people. They don’t have electronic ignition that thinks for you and YOUR the one who thinks for your T. Read and study...

Williamson’s instruments inc. just sent me the original MotoMeter water temp gauge I sent them a few months back because they can no longer get the gas needed to fix it. It is a lovely gauge but does not work. If Williamson’s can’t do it I am not sure who can. Last post
You might try Keystone Instruments in Lock Haven, PA. They repair all manner of antique aircraft instruments, one type of which are oil temperature gauges that work exactly the same as your coolant gauge over a very similar temperature range.

I have a '22 Coupe and the brass roller turns freely along the track so I would guess that your roller should roll and not be in a fixed position. Sliding a solid metal piece against another solid metal piece would cause one to wear a flat spot or hole in the other.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the info. Looks like someone chose brass lamps from 1915 on my car at some point. The motor was cast in April 1916 so it probably came with steel sidelamps.

No, it is a diary, space for daily entries. Ford never indicated daily maintenance as far as I know. It is just a piece of promotional material to keep the T model T front of mind.

I'm sure many of you who use YouTube are familiar with Matt and Jim from Strong's Garage. Recently, a video was put out by Strong's Garage informing of a recent accident involving Matt. Any older vehicle that has operated in road salt should be carefully inspected for structural damage from rust. Abuse or crash damage can also compromise structural integrity. A friend of mine had a new 1970 International Scout. He thrashed it from day one. When it was about a year old, it was up on a lift for some reason, and I noticed that 7 out...

Hi all, I have this Riverside three speed transmission with a reverse. It looks to be the same as a Muncie ? Anyway I am missing the

I would like to make a new one. Thanks for any help. Jim

Made my own disc brake swap to my knowledge its not been done before with these parts.

This conversion is NOT BOLT ON as it required welding and some basic fabrication. Im not making more of these. I have over 2500 miles of use on them including decending a 15% grade - no issues! 330mm rotors are plenty big but don't stick out too obvious behind...

I have rebuilt engine that is stiff to turn over. I was thinking about pulling the spark plugs and squirting oil in each cylinder then
pulling the car around the yard to loosen up the engine.
Kind of like a poor mans engine run in stand.
 Last post
A new rebuild shouldn’t be that tight to begin with. If you rebuild an engine and you build it fairly tight use some lubriplate , STP at least a coat of oil on all the bearing surfaces. A coat of STP on the bearing surfaces works pretty well. Just a little makes the surfaces really slick.

 Craig.

I'm not sure what those gear ratios are on those pulleys. Max output of a T gen is 100watts. P=VI, so 100w/6v=16.667 amps. I always recommend charge rates of 3-5A, so if it was a reduced speed, it would charge, yes. If you notice how the gen acts when a T is idling,...

If you are using a standard T oval tank, most I have seen have a depressed X pattern in the ends. A vinyl stick-on may not be the answer. A vehicle wrap type application should do the trick. Maybe neither will appreciate fuel being spilled over them.

I’d like to hear from people like me who drive their model T nearly every day. I think it’s a very different experience than the occasional drive. The license plate bracket, taillight base with single socket are one piece.
The lense holder can is seperate. You basically need another tail light unit & will have to change the sockets in both to double sockets.
The stock light is a running light, no stop feature.

They are door strikers. They are mounted on the B-pillars for the door latches.

The area with four screw holes above the striker is for a dovetail.

Unlike the NASH transmission mounted speedometer drive sold for Model T's, which used more than two gears, did the Patterson drive use only two gears, one on the transmission output shaft and one on the end of the cable which was secured to the transmission inspection cover? Last post
The drive I have has a four start spiral gear and a 10 tooth fibre pinion gear which is well worn. The top right hole in the cover is round as usual. All the others are slotted. I presume this is to allow some sort of mesh adjustment between the spiral gear and the pinion.

In my experience, the mounting to the running board is full width and is bent from the top panel of the fender and has folded edges over an additional strengthening plate, just like the later fenders. How tall is a low radiator shell? I am looking for a low radiator shell. Art Last post
You don't need the height to identify a low shell. If the sides are square the front, it is a low shell. If the sides are flared outwards to the rear, it is a high shell. The height may help if one is not aware of the above.

My 12 T is equipped with the later Magneto meter. I see a significant voltage drop in indicated on the magneto meter when I shift from Battery to Mag. What should I see? It currently is unhappy running on Mag. Last post
In retrospect I should have posted the arching however in that the mag never worked right from the beginning after a full rebuild including rebuilt coils. I did not consider that the arching would have discharged the magnets that I fully charged individually and pull tested all magnets to exceed 3 # with a spring scale. Now we all know that can...

My top irons are need of painting.
 I am thinking of a semi-gloss black.
Or should I go to a flat black?

What have you guys/gals painted your top irons?

 Thank you
 Last post
Gloss black, in enamel. It is more resistant to chipping/damage when folding the top.
